Doz rear bumpers....fit like Isotoner's (LOL, only us "older guys" will get that)

Love the color, workmanship, first class.

gofastwclass 11-28-2017 06:19 PM

The car is looking sharp. By description I wasn't sure about the colour (actually matte clear), but seeing the pictures - it works well. :)

How much "older" does one need to be to remember that commercial? Let's put it this way, I wasn't driving age but I still remember it. :innocent:

Some help for the younger guys... or the older guys with CRS. :D

Think I'm going to put some stainless mesh behind the dimples.

Have the pattern made and plan to cut the top out of 1/8 aluminum on the waterjet. Will cut two doors out at the same time and already have an aluminum continuous hinge to mount them.

I'm doing the rear seat delete in my 69 Camaro. I've got the riser welded in, just kind of stuck on how I'm going to do the access doors (panel)
Waiting to see how your doing yours, I know your going to have a much better way of doing yours.

Thanks Wayne I was originally going to go with a lighter blue but with the matte finish I liked the darker better.

Thanks Torq, Other than changing the color we stayed pretty much as I had planned in the beginning.

Thanks Trey, as I posted earlier its the 16-17 Camaro Hyper Blue, I originally wanted to do the Vette Laguna Blue but with the matte clear the Hyper blue won out

My son Taylor cut all of the parts on his waterjet. The latch is a QuickLatch push button latch. There is a piece underneath the top itself that forms a rest for the door to sit on and bumps out to mount the lower part of the latch to attach to.
I have DXF drawings of most all of the parts we've made, on parts like this I usually cut everything out of wood on one of the CNC's at my cabinet shop first to make sure everything fits before Taylor cuts it.

I'm doing the same to mine, was going to use wood but seeing this has convinced me to do metal. I do not know how to weld, and do not have any weld connections (that i trust anyways, cept maybe the paint shop i used).
But i can fab aluminum.

I was going to use the corvette rear glove compartments, one for safety equipment, other for the "permanent tools" every car must have. But, i really do like the idea of putting the battery there, however, these cars usually have a 52/48 weight distribution, so keeping it in the trunk area is what i'm going to do. Although, the COG is lower where your mounting it.....:superhack:

Hey Mike I've been going back and forth lately on where to put the battery , also trying to figure out where to put the 175 amp megafuse that American Autowire sends with the wiring kit I'm using. They recommend not locating it in the interior, but I'm wondering if both the battery and the megafuse would be "safe" in there beings that the compartments are fully enclosed with metal.

I am real curious to see what the weight distribution will be on my car with virtually the entire front end being carbon fiber.

Great work... I am going to do something
similar but not as fancy to help brace my Ride Tech
4 link along with a place to store the battery and
my sump accumulator... It would be nice to have that
covered instead of riding on the tunnel next to me

Keep posting up as it gets the rest of us inspired

Okay, as is fairly obvious to anyone reading my build threads I'm lousy at keeping up to date. But this time I have somewhat of an excuse  Basically my last update was that I had gotten the Camaro from the body shop and back into my shop on Dec. 1st. That same week the committee for our local indoor car show met and my car was picked to be the feature car for the show.
Great!!!
except the car show was Feb. 2-4. Oh boy, no pressure :bang: I assembled my 69 in 3 1/2 months and thought I did good. The other problem we had was the feature car is always "featured" on the posters and billboards advertising the show as well as on the cover of our local Motor Market magazine. I gave Ben Hermance a call and had him update my original rendering with a few changes.
Added the Z28 vent to the hood, changed the wheels to the Forgeline GA3R's that I ended up with, darkened the blue a bit, etc.
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/eMuTAe.jpg
The updated rendering was used on all of the advertising mentioned above. The magazine also used it and a bunch of build pictures in a story promoting the car show. It was the first time the magazine had used anything but an actual photo on the cover but said they had a lot of positive comments!! Thanks Ben!!! Sorry to everyone else for the long winded story.
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/t22NoN.jpg
Oh btw as you can tell by my avatar I did get the car "done" for the show but have a lot of loose ends to tie up before spring!

Thanks Bob yeah it's tough sometimes to come up with enough time! Everybody at the show said "I see you got it done" I laughed and said "car show done" There's a bunch of stuff to finish yet :headspin:

is it running and driving?

well done, did the carbon lead time affect the build time?

Not very often the rendering looks like the final build, this one does, awesomely

interior close? love to see some pics....how did the rear come out?

Thanks buddy!! John saw it in person alright!! We were talking on the phone in late December I believe and I mentioned the deadline I had to get done by for the car show. John immediately said he had to come in this general area (well 2 states away) for work in the next couple of weeks and how about if he stopped by and helped for a few days. Hell yeah! Turns out his work trip fell through and he came and spent a few days helping anyway. That was awesome and I can't thank John enough. :hail: It was great bouncing ideas off one another. My only regret was having somebody with John's fabrication talent there and all of the fabricating pretty well done lol. He did end up building pretty much all of the oil and power steering lines and not 1 leak.
As many have said this hobby isn't just about the cars, it's all the great friends we make along the way.
BTW I cant wait to fly down and give him a hand. Thanks again John!!!!

Thanks Mike it is running (I have a video somewhere :headscratch:) It is not driving, have a short list of things to do yet, bleed the brakes, clutch fluid, little exhaust work, wire the headlights and fans etc. lol But the weather here is still way to crappy to get it out anyway!!

The carbon fiber affected the build time in a Big way in both the lead time and the time to get it to fit correctly. :hairpullout: and almost :waveflag:

The interior is done except the interior guy is coming back to fix the carpet. My interior pics are pretty lousy, I took some new ones today with my camera but now my pc wont read the card.

Just curious..... Did you have any issues with body movement when you cut the floor pan out. I see you had the car on the rotisserie at the time?? I'm contemplating doing the same full replacement rather than "patch mine in.....

Thanks, Dave
