Wow, this car is incredible James. I never did get a chance to come look at it but maybe another time.

Kevin can you share more information of this "kinsler spec Bosch fuel pump? Keep up the awsome work and documentation:cool: |

Kinlser has a decent pump comparison in their tech manual here. |
It was a productive week this week, with some major progress on the OLC project.
We were able to get the subframe mated to the rest of the car: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/sub%20on%201.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/sub%20on%202.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/sub%20on%203.jpg |
We mocked up the exhaust one last time to help with the fabrication of the rear diffuser. Once we are done with it it will go out to the coater before final installation.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...0mock%20up.jpg |
We got the rear AP Racing brakes on:
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/rear%20brake.jpg Which allowed us to get the HRE wheels and Toyo Proxes R888 tires on: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...eel%20tire.jpg Which fit like a glove: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/rear%20tire.jpg |
|
And for the first time we were able to get the car on the ground on it's own wheels and tires...
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...ground%201.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...round%202a.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...ground%203.jpg well - almost on the ground... the hoist doesn't go low enough so it's on a couple of blocks for now... |
The front shocks still need to be adjusted to get the front end down another 2 inches to get to ride height.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...ground%204.jpg But the rear sits nicely as is... http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...ground%205.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...ground%206.jpg |
INCREDIBLE :hail:

super build! what i dont get is if its a one lap car.. why the front sheetmetal is steel and not aluminum??.. or CF.. i mean in a racecar less weight equals more speed and less tirewear..
its so close to penny it should almost be named dolly (the cloned sheep) no offence intended, it just seems alittle showcar'ish and not a true one lap uncompromizing streetable racecar but love the build.. it is exactly what a g.mashine is in my book... a streetable racecar... |

Duece - The One Lap of America is not about balls out race cars in street trim or ultra light customs with licence plates. There are far too many race venues and way too many miles of highway driving packed into one week for that. Besides, at this point in my life I wanted a real car that I could enjoy on my own terms. |
Spent a little bit of time today working through the plumbing of the clutch and brake master cylinders and remote reservoirs.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/masters%201.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/masters%202.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/masters%203a.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/masters%204.jpg |
And started looking at mounting options for the coils:
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...acket%201a.jpg |
We'll start hanging the front sheetmetal this week then get an alignment done and weld the subframe in...

looking good. I love the Tilton 900 series pedals. Any reason you went with the CV Products reservoirs over the Tilton version?
|
Epic. The best part of being in this business, is to see a car of this caliber come together.
The engine screams for a custom intake, but I'm sure you knew that. Tyler |

The intake has been narrowed down to two options ;) I just need to sort out the details... |

dont get me wrong.. i think the car is absolutely perfect! and just the right combination of uncompromising race solutions and streetable cruicer... i wouldnt change a thing! i just wondered out loud if it was perfect for one lap.... |
Looking good James,
What sizes are your tires, I was trying to search for the sizes on Penny but couldn't find them? |
Quote:
The fronts are 255/35-18s on 18 x 8.5" rims The rears are 315/30-18s on 18 x 11.0" rims |
I am really digging your car and cannot wait to see
the final product. I check this thread daily
|
James,
Car looks really good. All business but with a lot of style to it. I'm assuming you went with the AP Racing C5 brake kit. How are you mounting them in the rear and what are you doing for the parking brake? |
Every spring, Heighton Restoration in Beiseker, AB has an open house and car show. Since we were mocking up the sheetmetal to make sure the fit was correct before welding the subframe in Chris thought it would be cool make the car half way presentable for the show. I think the results are killer:
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%201.jpg The stance is really close but I think that the actual ride height will be an inch higher front and back when we are done. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%202.jpg The lower valance and Marquez running lights came out pretty well. The chin spoiler is a Carbon Fiber piece that probably will be replaced soon but definetely shows completes the front end well. We're not quite done on the header panel and a few other bits and pieces but wanted to get all the sheetmetal together one last time before paint. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%203.jpg |
I am really happy with the HRE wheels (ok, heck, I'm happy with how the whole thing is coming together).
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%204.jpg The backspacing on the rears is (IMO) just about perfect. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%205.jpg |
It's cool to see the entire engine compartment come together. The down bars still have to be painted and are in to confirm hose routing and clearances in the mean time.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%206.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%207.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%208.jpg |
I'm still not quite done on the plumbing for the remote reservoirs. There winds up benig alot going on in that corner and I hope to be able to clean up the -4an lines to the reservoirs a bit before I'm done there.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%209.jpg http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%2010.jpg |
Matt at RFR Custom Fabrication made up the killer shims for the fenders. The down tube bolts will be changed out in final assembly.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%2011.jpg There is still some work to finish up at the back. We are about half way done the rear bellypan but it's coming together really well. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%2012.jpg |
The radiator support and closeout panel was a ton of work but looks natural with the sheetmetal in place. The cable release latch assembly is nice and tidy as well.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%2013.jpg Again Matt at RFR Custom Fabrication came through with the upper collars for the hood pins. The Ring Brother's pins were originally designed for Mustangs and left some threads exposed on the Camaro. Matt went above and beyond here and came up with a perfect solution. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/june%2013%2014.jpg |
That is it.
Best engine bay I've seen in a 1st gen, super clean, very race inspired and simply functional. This must be a great moment for you. I'm having a beer right now in your name. Congrats on a great mile stone in your project. Tyler |
Wow that car is awesome. The stance just screams business. Are those 18's or 19's? I'm sure it will run better then it looks and it looks awesome.
Rodger |

Cheers my friend. After two and a half years it is really cool to see it on the ground, more or less in one piece. |

Thanks Rodger, I am really happy with the way that the car sits. We spent a lot of time playing with wheels trying to make sure that we were able to get the stance and backspacing bang on and I think that it was worth it in the end. The wheels are 18's - 8.5" wide on the front and 11" wide on the back. |
Man......the thing looks killer. Congrats on such a killer car :wow:
|
Amazing fit and finisht on engine bay.As tyler said best ever seen:thumbsup:
|
daaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnn...
that thing looks like its on the warpath.. |
KILLER
Now hurry up! Must feel good getting close, when are you going to turn the ignition and start the beast up? |
