As stated, he's home. Loaded up and dropped off...all nestled in his rightful place in the garage. I've just been hanging out in garage, staring at it. :lmao::lmao:

Marcus, car looks amazing in the sun!!! You're moving along at a nice pace, I bet it feels great to have it home! Now get to work! :)

It's a friend of mine. He let me borrow it. It's far, too expensive for me to buy my own and only use it once.

Well...I've never thought of it that way Jeff. My C10 is next, so I guess I could or should rather invest in my own huh?!:bang::lol:

Thank you. I chose it without even doing a spray out because it's from Kindigit's paint line. So I had to order it and go with it. I love what you're doing with the Nova as well.

srode1 01-05-2021 03:17 AM

Love that color too! Maybe I missed it - but what did you end up doing for your intercooler for the Whipple?

Thanks...I bought an AutoRad radiator set up, complete with A/C condenser and intercooler.

Beautiful car and you're making great progress so far, thanks for sharing! I tried going back in the thread to find the answer, apologies if I missed it, but would you mind telling me what radiator core support you are using? I looks like great quality and definitely better than the repops that are readily available. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments. I'm using AutoRad...

Nothing big and not much has been going on with the car. Waiting on my buddy to get a few cars out of his shop to be able to get me in and start wiring and plumbing the lines. Nonetheless, tinkered with it a bit the last few days. Tried to measure out the BMW convertible M3 seats. I chose these due to the integrated seatbelt and me having a convertible that doesn't have a B-pillar with no place to mount a shoulder harness. They will be recovered in grey leather. Also, getting the brakes installed too.

I ordered my HRE wheels back in January. It's now heading into June and they've cut the centers in house, but are having trouble procuring rim halves, which they outsource, to finish building the wheels. I've called just about every manufacturer of rim halves I could find and everyone is having trouble getting them. I even called other wheel companies to try and buy them from them and either they don't have them or the few that they do have, they have to keep to build their own wheels before selling them out the door to other customers. This industry-wide backlog is due to Covid and I guess all we can do continue to wait. Otherwise, if anyone has a connection or knows where I can get some, please let me know. I specifically and desperately need 19" step lip, rolled edge in a 5.5" outer. Until then, this is my life as my car continues sitting like this...

Musclerodz 05-23-2021 09:28 PM

I think there is 2 maybe 3 hoop manufacturers in the entire country for all the wheel companies out there. They are all buying from basically the same places.

Right Mike...that's what I found out through all of my phone calling. There are plenty of companies/businesses selling hoops or shall I say "re-selling" hoops because they all are pulling from those same 2-3 manufacturers.

214Chevy 06-01-2021 09:47 PM

Well, I found a line on some wheel hoops. Sad part is they're double the price. The ol' "supply and demand" trick.

Jeff-

Yes Jeff, they’re the exact ones that RB made for the Valkyrja Camaro they built. Same finish and all. When I first saw them, I liked them so much...I had to have the exact wheel. :headspin::headspin: This is only the second set HRE has made too. Of course Valkyrja being the first set.

Cant wait to see those mounted. Really like all the details and colors. Its a shame you had to paint/powder coat all that billet goodness.

Thank you, yeah, I agree. Billet is the most beautiful in when it's in its raw, shiny form. Unfortunately, I covered it cuz it didn't go with the them of my car since I opted for majority of all darker colors, etc.

214Chevy 06-08-2021 09:16 AM

Hopefully, I can get the tires mounted on the wheels this Friday. Notice I said hopefully. If, not it'll be next week.

Thanks guys!! It took 6 months, but I'm definitely satisfied with them. I haven't stopped staring at them since I got them.:lol:

Che70velle 06-10-2021 03:52 PM

Awesome Marcus! I like the uniqueness of these, as there is only one other set out there. Hopefully more progress is soon to come.

Thanks Scott!! That other set is all the way in Belgium, so I have the only set in America. :walkingdog: For now anyway. I have some job training to do tomorrow, but I should get the tires mounted tomorrow after that pending I get out of class at a decent time. Now that the wheels are here I can get the car to the exhaust shop too, hopefully soon and then get the car wired as well.

Thanks Chad...it took 6 months but I'm now happy.

214Chevy 06-12-2021 02:05 PM

Got the wheels mounted yesterday. I'm happier than all outdoors just to see the car sitting on the ground now. I measured everything on my own and did it, literally 9-10 times. No lie!! I even bought different new tires and kept checking fitment. I was so nervous and afraid to turn in the numbers I had measured to HRE. They kept emailing me for my backspacing numbers, as I had already put down 50% deposit and I kept procrastinating. I'd buy different size tires from Discount Tire and return them, which is doable just so long as you don't mount them. I told the guys there what I was doing and they were happy to help. So, after checking my numbers a million times on several different tires I went off of hope and ordered the wheels. I was still worried, because the worst thing you want is to order super expensive wheels, only to get them after waiting and they don't fit. So, I was super excited to receive the wheels. After getting them mounted and balanced on the tires, the moment of truth came...."Ohh s#!t, I hope these wheels fit!" Low and behold, every thing was perfect. I probably could've added an extra .25" on the rear, but other than that, they're perfect. Tires are mismatch, cuz once I get the car running, I plan to have a tad bit of fun hopefully and burn a little rubber. I have a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sports to mount afterwards. Now, that wheels are finally on and the car on the ground I can get the exhaust done and get it wired and start the car soon.

Wheel specs are:
*19x10-275/30/19
*19x13-345/30/19

jmac 06-13-2021 06:46 AM

Looks great! Nice job on the measuring! I can understand your nervousness with the wheels, that would be an expensive mistake. I'd probably err on the side of caution and just live with that extra .25" of clearance.

Correct, I'll just live with it, because .25" is such a small tolerance that it'll be ok. It would only bring the tire outward towards the quarter panel just a tad bit more to my personal liking. But, I definitely wanted to make sure the tire didn't hit the quarter panel and that's why I went with the measurement I did to be safe for that very reason...I didn't want any rubbing.
