Radiator to Upper Grill Shroud

Hood still off till I get the EFI/Dyno guy over here. I Changed the plugs because they were fouled.

Not many new parts are left to put on.

I am thinking about making an upper shroud for the attachment to the upper grill. Since I moved the radiator forward 1 1/2" , the old hood latch bracket wont clear the condenser. I have to make something. Either something small 8-12" wide, all the way to the hood pin brackets, or something that goes fender to fender and under the top grill slat.

Do my pictures look blurry? Some of them are not perfect, but most are OK from my viewpoint. I am not getting anybody else on any other forum complaining.

Not complaining but they appear to be very low resolution, basically like a camera phone or equivalent. That's probably what he was talking about.

Pics are appreciated though, keep up the good work!

You need a camera to match the quality of the car. Look at pic below to get my drift. lol.

I agree with you on the front grille core support plate.

Jake,

What is your screen resolution? The pictures are shot at 1024x768, and when viewed at 800x600, it cause the picture to be very large. How do these pictures look? I changed it to 640x480

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...6/PIC_0499.jpg

Intake tube is done. I still need to get those blue hoses removed and replaced. I'm going to try and get one or both of the tubes welded to the hat, but the chroming is going to be an issue.

Yea, I see what you are talking about. It may be that most of my pictures are taken inside a poorly lit garage. Will be able to tell more in a couple of days when I get the hood back on, and try to takes some nicer ones outside.

68protouring454 06-24-2007 05:37 AM

i had the same problem, now i use i think the redeye mode or something and it pre flashes then flashes again when pic is taken now my indoor pics are way better, let me look in my book to see what mode i have it on, but all i did was take pics inside with all the different modes then looked at them and pic'd the best one.
get them outside pics

Water Temp Sending Unit & Air Filter Shroud

I had to install an extra water temp sending unit. If I tapped in to the EFI water temp probe, it may have caused a LOW temp reading by dividing the signal. So I tee'd the manifold, and added the dash gauge water temp sending unit.

I also built an aluminum water shield (2 sides only) for the under-fender 12" long conical air filter.

H Pipe

Got a lot done today. Took a day off to regroup. Those damn gremlins keep sneaking up and screwing with everything.

For instance, the drive shaft delivered to me was too short. Well I ordered, and received from UP (a few weeks late) a longer driveshaft. This fixed one problem but created another. The front universal knuckle started hitting the H Pipe. Damn it!!!

OK I removed the H pipe and had it cut 3/4" on both sides to give me a little room. I also clocked the EFI sensor a little clockwise because it was getting very close to the frame. This allowed me to lift the transmission a little more, hopefully taking care of the shifting problem. We will see in the next few days:

Front End Alignment

Got the front end aligned today also. I stayed with they guy doing the alignment, and boy am I glad. He really didn't know that you could rotate the plate to move the LCA out for the negative camber.

The figures from TCP:
Camber 0- ½ degree neg
Castor 2 ½-3 pos
Toe 1/16” -1/8” In

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...EndAligned.jpg

But We got it done. Front and rear end. It was only out a little, but a little sure makes a big difference in the way it drives. Now I got to lift the rear a little more. There are adjustments on the UP rear Coilover system to allow for this:

State Inspection & Dyno

I got the car State Inspected today.

Then went over to the local dyno shop. After a lengthy amount of time test tuning, doing some gentle pulls, then getting more robust each time. We are not finished tuning yet.

But I took a video of the last pull. Enjoy!

More horsepower then you need.. . However nice to have. Nice video, great, music!

We will be able to see this car when? How's the quality of the paint on this bad boy? I know its been recently painted, however, black is a bitch to make look right.

Black is very difficult on painters. Shows every flaw. It was buffed and clayed. When you touch the paint it is smooth as silk. It is not a 100 point paint job, but it is, IMHO, at least a 95.

Going to some local shows while I finish all the little things. I don't have any plans to go to any nationals. I might go to the Unique Performance Fest in Dallas on Oct 20th.

Valve Train & Vortech Hat

I changed the plugs (again) and adjusted the valves. Got close to 100 miles on her now. Want to see some trick valve train ...

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...Adjustment.jpg

The blue S/C hose is GONE. The aluminum intake tube has been cut to fit and is at the welders (I'm not that good, and don't have a TIG). Now compare the hat before and after:

Re: Cold Air complete, Snake turns in to Medusa

Seems like every time I make one step forward, I take one step back.

Got the cold air intake installed.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...eFinished2.jpg

Now for the good news/bad news. Good news is I found out why it is running so rough. When I adjusted the valves, I adjusted only the right (passenger) bank, because I was getting a little lifter noise. But I still noticed a roughness in the idle, and something was just not right. So I pulled a compression check. Cyl 6, 7 & 8 were low. #1 was at 120# after 3 revs. Cyl #8 got up to 95# after 5 compression strokes. I pulled the valve cover, turned it over to the heel on the cam, and backed off the tensioner. The valve MOVED UP. It was not seating properly. SO I backed it off a little more. NO SPRING. Goes loose immediately. Adjusted it back down, up, down. Adjusts exactly like a solid lifter. YEP, collapsed lifter. Checked 6, 7, & 8. All collapsed. 5 is OK. CRRAPPPPPPP

The Snake reared its ugly head and turned in to Medusa!

Would that be a good name for this project?

This is a rookie mistake by the engine builder. I am a little PO'd. I'm gonna see what they are planning to do. $36k for engine and you would expect perfection!$%*^$

GHOSTDANCER 07-14-2007 02:09 PM

Good name. Good luck with the engine

jarhead 04-17-2015 12:40 PM

Cool project,I just read through the whole thing.

I found it searching the site for Keith Craft.

What was the outcome on your engine?

colorado80439 04-29-2015 08:27 PM

Nice build
