KORE3

FWIW my car went from manual disk/drum to manual KORE3 with the same C5/C6 hybrid setup Marty has... the difference is rotten apples to Florida oranges! I feel like I could stand my car on it's nose if I needed to!

Call Tobin at KORE3! You'll be happy you did!

But that's a good thing!

Marty,
I have a few questions about your brake system. You say you are running Tobin’s Kore3 C5/C6 setup. Is it the Vette base brakes? What are your rotor sizes, front and rear? What size wheel do these brakes require?

I’ve looked at Tobin’s website numerous times, but I have no idea what’s what. Lol. So any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jimbo

Misc Stuff and a New Toy (( 11-12-22 ))

This post is just a random post about nothing.

I am leaving this here as I have a sill crazy idea.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3db5418-me.jpg

Picked up some distilled water for start up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d7fd0c6-me.jpg

As every already know I love taking pictures and since the iphone does such a great job. I picked up the SnapGrip from www.ShiftCam.com and I love it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...db553f1-me.jpg

Of course I had to take a few pictures.

Ground Wiring (( 11-13-22 ))

It's getting closer to starting time with Andrew Dr EFI so I figured I would wrap up all the ground wiring. I have ground studs in the drivers and Passenger side Kick Panels which need to be converted to brass nuts, bolts & washers.

Passenger Side

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4836492-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...04691bd-me.jpg

Drivers Side - Out with the old

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8f56c4d-me.jpg

I put a small amount of Dielectric grease on the head of the nut and the washers inside the cabin.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3cc4f2b-me.jpg

Since my memory sucks (chemo side effect) I used an extra bolt to stack the wires the same way they were in for mock up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e1ff8ff-me.jpg

All better

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b3f9969-me.jpg

I also located the wires from the Holley ECU that I will be using to control the fan and AC shut during full throttle acceleration

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f8ea37e-me.jpg

Picked up the Mat Sensor which I completely forgot about.

Unfortunately the Front Brake Lines are still leaking (( 11-20-22 )

Just like the title says the front brake lines are still leaking !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5496de0-me.jpg

Which means once again I am going to try to blead the brakes.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6811410-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c27db83-me.jpg

Apparently, the line is still leaking as it's constant bubbles under suction and there is fluid on the cardboard.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ecf4e29-me.jpg

I am going to replace the banjo bolts since it's the only thing I haven't replaced.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3492d1f-me.jpg

UGH still leaking so I am calling it a night

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...630e256-me.jpg

11-21-22 Update (( I HAD TO WALK AWAY YESTERDAY )

I decided to put on the new lines that Tobin sent me to see if that was the issue. I created this unnecessary little line so I could just plug the line coming from the master cylinder. So many unnecessary pieces but it was fun using all of the pieces I had laying around. Lets just call it an anger management project and it worked. On one of my trips to the Autopart's store for the plug I found a discarded phone case that had the owners ID, Credit Cards and Debit card. Since the address wasn't far from my house I brought it to the address and left it on the front porch. y guess is they stole his phone and ditched the case.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ebcb16f-me.jpg

New Lines installed & a slightly larger outside diameter crush washer which I picked up earlier in the day.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c73749f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fe4bed1-me.jpg

Drivers Side Line.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e2c4b16-me.jpg

You can actually see the size difference of the crush washer even though it is very minimal.

Fuel Lines and Kicker Blue Tooth Car Stereo (( 11-25-22 ))

I decided to clean out the fuel lines so I can finally start the car. Then I for some unknown reason decided to walk into the rack. Man did that hurt.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4a28868-me.jpg

Since my head was still hurting I decided to run the wires for the kicker controller up to the shifter.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7d8def8-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6230e2d-me.jpg

I will need to put the wires in the tech flex flat loom which I will most likely do later tonight. I just wanted to here it play music.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e688750-me.jpg

This will also be wrapped in the flat loom and will be attached with Velcro to rear firewall.

Yep, I found a single U-Joint needle bearing on the floor. (( 12-04-22 ))

So I found a single needle bearing on the floor and of course it's from the driveshaft. I finally decided to remove the driveshaft off and see which U-Joint it could be.

Please of Please make this the last time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...865f450-me.jpg

I also cycled the suspension to make sure the lines don't hit anything and I discovered the passenger side was hitting the upper control arm. So I loosened the line on the frame rail and took the tension out of it and set on the proper location/rotation.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0112281-me.jpg

Installed the top post batter covers since the battery is not hot !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...edab352-me.jpg

Another nice easy project at least on one side and it's a good thing that I have plenty of bike water bottle hardware laying around.

It looks like the passenger side is going to be put on hold as I have no interest in removing the starter today.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...957676f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3096acf-me.jpg

I climbed back up in the attic and removed the Vintage Air controller to see if I could turn off the fan as when I turned the key to ignition on position the fan starts running.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0a0c5f6-me.jpg

Installed the defrost ductwork. I am not going to lie as I am most likely going to buy some new stuff as it's kindy dirty.

Years ago I received at Craftsman Stainless Steel Socket Set. It has come in handy so many times. Once again the plastic grip on it allowed me to hand tighten the line clamp.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7a213ac-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a0a3700-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fc5595e-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...121d9ec-me.jpg

Time to Organize some stuff (( 12-12-22 ))

Since I started building this car I have acquired and or rented a bunch of cool tools. Because I ran out of room in the garage I ended
up putting them in the garage attic. Well today was the day that I finally decided to add a couple more shelves in the garage.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...26c4cdb-me.jpg

Quick trip to home depot to pic up a new shelf.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...51792db-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9786fb9-me.jpg

I actually started from the bottom up as I know one of the cases will actually be sitting the on the floor under the lowest shelf.

Intake Tube Concept 1.0 / 2.0 (( 12-16-22 ) Not Liking it.

A couple things I don't like the intake tube mainly because one is polished and on tube isn't.
The other reason is the angle/bend radius so I ordered matching tubes.

Eventually I will have my buddy Ben weld on the bung so it looks like it was done correctly.

So I have this box in my warehouse since I originally started the car way back in 2011. I decided put it in the car as it would be so
much more comfortable to kneel on or even lay on while I am working in the car.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3a11788-me.jpg

When I removed the shifter I forgot that I needed to touch up the bare steel.

Thank you and definitely order the dust shields now as they were hard to find locally.

It amazing how comfortable it is to work inside the car now. I plan to bring the backseat home this weekend so I can sit on the seat and stir up the dash and make sure I got everything right.

Shifter and Center Console Install (( 01-01-23 ))

Step One is to find an older carpet Soldering Iron. Everyone needs one of these.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...93666d6-me.jpg

Let that sucker get nice and hot.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9e4c7f9-me.jpg

Install the four bolts that hold the shifter assembly in. Then lay the carpet back in and make sure you have it exactly where
it needs to be as you only get one shot. I like installing the carpet this way as the shifter assembly keeps the carpet from moving.
Once you are certain then this is where it gets fun. You need to push down on the carpet to find the first bolt. I choose to do the
right bottom bolt since I am right handed. Now all you have to do is gently push the soldering iron into the carpet and it will
make a perfect hole and the carpet won't fray since the iron melts it perfecty.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...426d315-me.jpg

Install the bolt and move on to the next bolt. This time I choose the left bottom as this hopefully will allow me to find the top to easily.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0462da9-me.jpg

I used the shifter as template and it worked perfectly.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6f24f85-me.jpg

Next I need to locate the hole for the ShiftWorks shifter cable.

Since I am here I gently ( ha !! ) peeled back the DEI sound deadening.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...577a1fb-me.jpg

I installed the cable on spun the cable grommet to a safe orientation as there are a couple wires running over the top of the transmission.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c0a8ec1-me.jpg

I needed to peel back more sound deadening and of course some of it will never come out from under my finger nails.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7336845-me.jpg

Quick run to Home Depot for the correct length stainless crews.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d1ef1c6-me.jpg

Installed the shifter to make sure everything looks good.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7c30d42-me.jpg

Everyone needs one of the Harbor Freight Dead Blow Hammers. They are so cheap.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9143edd-me.jpg

I installed the cable and ran it through the gears.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6869231-me.jpg

Quick picture of the wires under the shifter for location reference.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...caed243-me.jpg

I used a paint marker to mark where the wires run. As you can see I reposition the grommet.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...18e1ee7-me.jpg

Since these screws are not self-tapping I drilled a 7/64 hole.

Glad to hear it's going to be started this weekend, Marty. It's been a long time coming.

Marty, you certainly do not disappoint sir!!

I know I'm stupid late on the brakes, but when you use a vacuum gun you need to put teflon tape or paste on the bleeder screws so you don't get air from around the threads = false readings.

One thing better, and to add to your shelf, is check out Motive Power Bleeder. That thing has changed my life. I got really tired of hearing the wemmens complain about running the brake pedal I found this and never looked back.

If you have an older master, the early american rectangular adapter is a pain to use. It doesn't seal very well, I've used C-clamps to hold it down to get by. That being said, having a large reservoir of pressurized fluid is amazing when you're running the bleed by yourself. Just seal it, pump it up, then stroll to each bleeder and crack them. You have to add a couple pumps to the reservoir every now and then, but man, makes brake jobs like butter. Even purchased the tilton adapter and use it to bleed my T56 setup, takes 10 minutes start to finish, almost cheating.

Well that was left out of the instructions. However I am certain I will bleed them at least one more time.

Glad to hear it!! Run by the hardware store and pick up denatured alcohol as well, that's what recommended to flush/ clean the pump after use.

Planning ahead for Kick Panel Speakers (( 01-01-23 ))

Since the carpet is in I figured I might as well see how well the center console fits. I need to tap the threads so I could use a
bolt versus a screw. I am also going to have Dennis at High Speed Welding fabricate a tray for the surround to sit on.

Planning ahead again. I decided it as time to run the wires from the center channel to the kick panel.

More trick parts on order. (( 01-05-23 ))

More trick parts on order.

Since I have to remove the steering column to repaint it as it has been scratched to death. I have ordered the collapsible steering
shaft to save me from being impaled by the steering wheel in a car accident.

Intake Tube Concept 2.0 (( 01-07-23 ))

I didn't care for the first intake tube and actually it was the second as I sent the first one back.

Using a tighter bend radius it looks like I can get a 6" filter on the end. We shall see when we install the Anvil Carbon-Fiberglass inner fenders.

Need to find a good location for the MAT sensor

Since I had a very nice set of pedals made for the first version of the car I would like to use them. The Guys at Screaming Chicken . com make a very nice adapter.
