The only thing I've ever had done on my cars by someone other than myself is paint, AC work, and alignments. Everything else was done by me, and until a few short years ago in a single-stall apartment garage! I still want to do everything myself but time and energy are becoming more scarce then before.

I'm still no body man so the new Firebird project had one big stipulation - the car had to have clean - straight sheet metal to keep paint and body shop expenses to a minimum. Although it will still be built in my home garage (a detached 2-car affair) I still have access to an incredibly well equipped machine shop with digital scanners, numerous CNC mills, an engine shop, dynos, and other tools so I guess I'll be blurring the lines between home-built and pro-built, but the results are not in yet so we shall see! lol

Just saw this thread. Im hoping to do everything myself including the TT 5.3 with the exception of the body work as I dont have the time or the patience to tackle that type of detail work.

I understand I may need to call in help but Im going to try to keep it within my circle of friends. Trying to keep this car as close to home as possible.

Thanks man its a work in progress...I am using a rear axle from a 2002
Z28, currently about 8 inches too wide, need to gut it and get it narrowed.
I am using this axle for several reasons but mostly to keep torque arm setup.

Not a car but garage-built by me....and now torn down again to replace the cab, smooth the firewall and get the gapping perfect over the winter.

My next project is waiting in the wings and will hopefully fit in better with the outstanding builds on this forum....:hail:
