You just need to establish your reference points for approach, turn in, and braking. Turn 1, 6, 7, and 8 (the corkscrew) are blind so references are on the horizon or the track surface. I think the max speed I saw cresting T-1 on the KTM RC8R was 145, the MotoGP guys see about 165 which is hard to comprehend. I'd guess you might see 130-135 with your car, the key is scrubbing speed on the downhill approach to the dual apex Andretti hairpin (T-2). It's a great track!

I haven't ran any car track days, I'll assume they're similar to bikes and run three 20 minute sessions on the hour for advanced, intermediate, and beginner skill levels?

Cool man..thanks for the insight... or warnings... LOL :D

I'm not sure on the sessions and different days available... just looking at that now for several tracks.

Flash, check out trackmasters racing. I ran with those guys when I had the sti. Super mellow, and they will put an instructor in the car with you first time. Headsets and all. The info they give you is priceless- cool guys too.

A case of the nerves is normal for anyone your first track outing. Hell, even second and third. The thing you should remember is that there are skill level groups that you could choose to be in and in each of those groups most everybody around you feels the same way and are most likely thinking the same thing you are, bringing themselves and their car home in one piece.

I'll be running a time trial event with NASA May 14th at Thunderhill. You should sign up for HPDE 1. That way you can ride with an instructor to learn the line on the track in your car and then you can ride with me and get an idea of what it will feel like wheel to wheel.

Fair warning: Road racing can be addicting and hazardous to your wallet.

Headsets?? Hell, I don't want anyone talking to me while I'm running. It's just me and the road.

In all seriousness, thanks, I'll check that out! I gotta get down and see your car... and that motor!

Dammit, I'd love to come that weekend but I think that's the weekend of a debaucherous bachelor party I'm going to in Guerneville. We are renting a house for 20 dudes a half block from the brewery. That won't get messy. :_paranoid

I do wanna go for a ride with you on the track soon tho man!
