Can anyone recommend a decent tripod that's stable but not too heavy in the $200 range or so? My brother said "oh just get a Gitzo", but at what they cost not going to happen. Costco has a couple Dolica's that have decent reviews. Any thoughts?

Sieg, I know you created this thread for unedited pics (sorry for posting the ones I did not realizing this). It may not be your thing like it is mine but if you bracketed this shot in say 3 different exposures of -2.0, 0.0, +2.0 and then merged them together with something like Photomatix software it would blow you away. Great shot as it is though and loving this thread

Thanks and don't worry about posting tweaker pics :lmao: Not a problem!

I did bracket that shot and most of my shots but not at that extreme range. Don't know about Photomix.........I'm finding Windows 8 isn't loved by many photo software developers........can't blame them AT ALL, I'm on the brink of switching back to Win7 so I can use my Canon software that came with the camera.

Any examples of a merged composition?

I've heard good things of Manfrotto tripods. They had some at my local costco a few months back for around 120-150 (i forget. as i just drooled on them) heheh.

We USED to use a remote "shutter releaser" that screwed into the "button" to keep from shaking the camera... it was a simple cable and sheath.

Now you need a (relatively) expensive wireless remote...

Poor mans release is the built in self-timer.

The Canon wireless remote is $21, off-brand that looks to be identical $9.99 via Amazon Prime.

Last night of the U of O Girls Basketball Camp at Matt Knight Arena.

Last year my daughter couldn't get off the ground to save her soul, this year things are changing........not enough in this mismatch though. :D

They brought the girls in to watch the last 4 minutes of the NBA game on the scoreboard screens and then handed out camp awards.

Notes:
1) This is when than 50-150 f2.8 lens would make a difference
2) That floor design in the arena plays h*ll with light meters!
3) My kid is very fortunate to capitalize on Phil Knight's generosity.

If you do anything with Off camera flash, the yongnuo triggers work as remote shutter releases well (as well as off camera flash triggers). And they're cheap.. $30-40.

No you don't, get an ML-L3 for yours. A genuine Nikon one is less than $20 (I think you can afford it :) ) or a cheap aftermarket one for much less.
