Intake Tube Concept 2.0 (( 01-07-23 ))

I didn't care for the first intake tube and actually it was the second as I sent the first one back.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...30bb452-me.jpg

Using a tighter bend radius it looks like I can get a 6" filter on the end. We shall see when we install the Anvil Carbon-Fiberglass inner fenders.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5424777-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...84c0e3a-me.jpg

Since I had a very nice set of pedals made for the first version of the car I would like to use them.

The Guys at Screaming Chicken . com make a very nice adapter.

Test my MAT Sensor Concept and hope to start the car soon.

My goal for tonight is to mock up the MAT sensor.

Best Tool Ever !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cd5b982-me.jpg

Yep, The first hole was just a little bit off so I new hole was made.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a397ef6-me.jpg

I made the hole just big enough so I can temporarily thread the fitting in. So we can possible start the car this weekend ( 01-11-23 )

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...34bf5b3-me.jpg

It's not permanent but it will do for start up.

Adding distilled water.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c839942-me.jpg

Well it wasn't me that leaked all over the floor.

Next time I will make sure the petcock is closed on the bottom of the radiator and yes we were laughing at me.

It's nice having moral support from your friends when you need it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5432d62-me.jpg

Heater core hose bypass is also leaking and it was the clamps.

We have power and Andrew AKA Dr EFI and I are on the phone.

It's a very simple website but here it is and trust me he is good. https://drefi.net/

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5047a0b-me.jpg

Connecting the power and Andrew is trying to remote connect into the ECU.

We have Lights ..... however we have issue's

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d91b56d-me.jpg

I am so happy I made this thing serviceable.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b62cf82-me.jpg

Not Good - All the lights are White and we are unable to connect to the handheld.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b3a8f63-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bb2762e-me.jpg

Calling it and we are going to try to figure out what the issue is.

Hopefully it is something I screwed up and a simple fix so we reschedule for next weekend.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ec8d123-me.jpg

Andrew AKA Dr EFI gave me a couple suggestions of what to look for and I will work on that later today or tomorrow.

Since it didn't go so well (( 01-14-23 ))

Well, sometimes you just need to move on and take some parts off. So off came the lower valance so I can eventually install the Anvil Carbon inner fenders.

Pictures for reference

Pulled out more of my notes (( 01-15-23 ))

Since I couldn't remember what the blue white wire does I pulled out some of my notes. Yep, it's the tach output signal wire.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...806aeb2-me.jpg

I am also relocating the Holley Ground Wire down to the shut off terminal.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6f77c63-me.jpg

Certain ''Hot'' wires on going to be on the top post DSE Battery terminals.

However, I am not a big fan of them as they just don't seem to grip the battery post.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b30f9af-me.jpg

I am also considering adding a positive post on the core support just like the negative post.

Removing the Vintage Air to get it out of the way

Since it is only a 30 minute job to remove the Vintage Air unit I am taking it out so I can access all of the wire if we have an issue when we try to start it again on the 21st.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2314740-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f17d75d-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e97d64e-me.jpg

The Blue White Wire - Yep I am going to move it just in case I want to install an old school tach.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ef1af53-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b5e463c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b813090-me.jpg

Fingers crossed that I will be starting the car this weekend.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...09f1f1d-me.jpg

One more task added to the list. I am going to drill a hole in this bracket to run the wire directly through the center of this bracket and tuck it under the carpet.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...12cc990-me.jpg

syborg tt 02-01-2023 07:20 PM

Labeling a couple more wires. (( 01-17-23 ))

I realized when the Vintage Air unit is in the car I was unable to tell what each one of the fuses were for.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...44f6933-me.jpg

So apparently it is very important to not stack the 11.0 Loose Wire Ground so I am going to move it 2'" away from the ground stud.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...58e0ca3-me.jpg

I moved the blue white wire to where the Holley Digital dash will be.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bfe2ab6-me.jpg

Apparently Remy decided it was nap time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6723be0-me.jpg

Remember those DSE Top Post terminals apparently the positive one broke overnight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...78fd592-me.jpg

Going to plan "B" or is it "C" or is it "D"

These have a little more beef however I am not sure if I like them cosmetically.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...29b2691-me.jpg

So, well the issue seems to be resolved by moving the Loose wire ground and actually hooking up the Holley Main Ground. DA !!!!!!!!

Yes, I actually forgot to install the main ground wire for the unit and yep I am an idiot.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2ceaa07-me.jpg

Test Ignition on and what do you know it actually works.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...99517fb-me.jpg

Junking the DSE Terminals and trying these.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...71aeedc-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3d1baa9-me.jpg

Moving on to the Loose Wire Ground and have I told you how much I love this drill.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...07594e7-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2728b4e-me.jpg

I stripped all of the paint and coated with Dielectric grease.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2c7267b-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9098552-me.jpg

This is what happed to the hose clamp on the water pump heater core lines. Apparently I opened it up to much and the inside slider
sleeve was pinched. So I am just going back to the old style stainless steel line clamps. On a side note these are almost impossible
to see when they are in the car.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d07b46f-me.jpg

Remy's up and want's to go to bed as do I. Plus I have to get up early to have a Mohs procedure done on my left
calf. Apparently the biopsy wasn't in my favor and they need to remove more tissue to make sure they removed
all of the skin cancer cells.

Screaming Chicken to the Rescue. (( 01-22-23 ))

Unfortunately we didn't attempt to start the car on Saturday as my leg was pretty sore and the Doctor told me I need to stay off my feet for 3 days. Holy **** is it hard to sit on the coach for two day and stay off the bike for 2 or 3 weeks.

So I jumped on the Screaming Chicken website and ordered all the parts I wanted. Let's just call this a late Christmas present.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...945f52f-me.png

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5ed4d38-me.png

When I get the new steering shaft I will drop the Steering column off at the Body shop to get repainted satin black.

The old levers are coming off and I think they are going to Ron.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7871619-me.jpg

I also bought a longer charge wire for the Optima charger.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2c67284-me.jpg

I rescheduled the start date to the 28th with Andrew. Let's hope I get everything sorted out by Saturday morning.

Injector Specs

Plugged everything back in and checked to see of the Handheld connected with the ECU.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a388356-me.jpg

I also moved the Holley ECU ground to the battery shut off post.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...79a5d9c-me.jpg

Last minute change up. I really didn't like the top post terminals so I quickly next day air with Amazon a set of Marine top post
terminals. These actually grip the battery post like they should.

I completely disconnected the Holley ECU.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9b68b83-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bc958de-me.jpg

I also cleaned out the car to make sure there was nothing in the car that wasn't needed. Low and behold I found the pedal bracket
that I ordered over a year ago. It's funny because I told Dave a Screaming Chicken the best way to find lost parts is to order a new
one. Unfortunately I was correct as I found it before I opened the box.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8ae640d-me.jpg

I put the rear view mirror with my bike stuff.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5ebc44c-me.jpg

It's about to Get Real...We Have Gas !!! (( 01-28-23 ))

Well, things are finally feeling real as I am pouring gas into the car for the first time in almost three years.

https://www.lateral-g.net/forums/cac...5047a0b-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1ed15cb-me.jpg

I also went over my start up check list and oddly enough I missed a few more things.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6f8c607-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...19f746c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e2634a8-me.jpg

Somehow, I missed a few things and of course one of the most important things.

Yep, I missed the PFT tape on the NPT fitting going into the tank and thankfully Dan was over and he noticed all of the fuel on the ground.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8609484-me.jpg

Problem solved.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d585a7f-me.jpg

Andrew continued running test before we fired up the car and he notice that I wired the Fan relay incorrectly.
Instead of rewiring it while we were on the phone I just snipped the trigger wire and I will just manually connect it to the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f25fd77-me.jpg

Here we go first start attempt in 3 years. Well it fired right up and boy did it sound terrible.

Then we started again so Andrew could remotely diagnosis the problem. He discovered the entire left "Odd" bank was not firing correctly.
We shut it down and started looking at the coil harness as that seemed to be the issue.

As you can see from the pictures the Holley plug is at the rear of the valve cover and of course it's just plug and play. Well in this case this
case we discover the issue. What we quickly discovered was the wiring was 180 degree's off. Ugh !!! Somehow number 7 is at the front of the
motor. So we called it a day and I will be calling Wiring Specialties on Monday.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3b43821-me.jpg

I pulled the harness out and noticed they were numbered (( DA !!!! ))

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...798cfde-me.jpg

Hours later .... You know right before you are supposed to be at dinner for a good friends Birthday stupid idea's run through your head.

What if I flip the coil harness around and push some of the main harness from the inside of the car into the engine bay will it actually reach.

Yep, But it's tight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f662810-me.jpg

I figured I could start the car when I got home as it's already snowing and I have a 30 minute drive to the restaurant. So I will just start it when I get home.

syborg tt 02-02-2023 09:52 AM

Home from Dinner and we have an Oil Leak !!! (( 01-28-23 ))

Yep, We have an oil leak.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1e7942c-me.jpg

Thankfully I picked up the Earls "O-Ring" version a couple weeks ago.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b2c2ad2-me.jpg

This time I added the PFT tape before it leaked.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ef8d888-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...61d91ee-me.jpg

Looks like I have a second leak as the Oil Pressure switch at the back on the block is leaking and most likely the culprit.

Oil Pressure Switch is still leaking (( 01-29-23 ))

Happy Sunday Morning,

It's Sunday and I am feeling good.

Today I am going to change up my top post battery wires for the last time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a1734da-me.jpg

I move the ground wire that was on the top post to the side post so all the grounds are killed when I twist the switch on the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5342876-me.jpg

I will eventually clean the wires up in the inner fender.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...27d6f84-me.jpg

Something is missing.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6a5c3ab-me.jpg

All better

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9c3ae55-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e76fde8-me.jpg

I sent Andrew a text of how nice it was running and he called me and said let's finish this thing and so here we go.

I told he we still have and oil leak so I am going back to fix it with PFT tape instead of the paste.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...169f2fb-me.jpg

syborg tt 02-02-2023 10:26 AM

It's Sunday Morning and I am going to go start the car (( 01-29-23 ))

It's Sunday Morning and I have one goal and that is to here the car running and running correctly.

Fixed and now I am finally going to start it and hopefully it sounds better.

Time to call Andrew and give him the good news.

Couple more small leaks (( 01-29-23 ))

Couple more small leaks.

Nothing major just needs to be tightened

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f428d35-me.jpg

Since I missed the PFT tape everywhere else I decided we needed to look at the fitting under the manifold.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a9a1130-me.jpg

Since the intake tube needs to be bead blasted and anodized black it was no big deal removing it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...228e181-me.jpg

Nothing to see here as it looks like I remember to do these.

Nice!

Congrats Marty!! Can't wait to see that beast out in the sun again!

For now you can de-pin the weather pack at the end of the coil harness and move the wires around so they connect correctly to get the harness back situated the way you want. The #s on the coil plugs will be wrong, but you won't have the harness hanging off the engine.

Good news I found one as Walgreens by the Movie Theater and it is bigger then the old one.

andrewb70 02-08-2023 07:32 AM

I can certainly do it, but it isn't rocket surgery. This is the big Holley wiring manual:

https://documents.holley.com/techlib...10555rev17.pdf

The document is hyperlinked, so go to the second page and click on Wiring Appendix.

Scroll to Figure 24 on page 37. That the wiring diagram for your engine harness. You are not going to touch any of the wires on the main harness side, but only on the coil sub harness. We are only concerned with 4 wires, specifically the ones going to cavities G, F, C, B. Those are the ignition trigger for each coil.

The triggers are on cavity C of each coil connector. The wire from cavity C on cylinder #1 should go to cavity G on the 8 cavity connector....So...

Cylinder #1 goes to G
Cylinder #3 goes to F
Cylinder #5 goes to C
Cylinder #7 goes to B

Let me know if you have any questions.

Andrew

2nd Chance Coil Harness - Here Goes Nothing

1 Attachment(s)
So tonight it the night where I am going to move some wires around. I made myself a cheat sheet so I can
visually see the four wires I need to move on the plug. Looking at it like this makes it seem very easy.

syborg tt 02-09-2023 06:13 PM

Well that was a bust

So, I tried to remove the pins however the heat shrink is so close to the terminal that it is
impossible to pull on gently. The other issue is the black retaining clip is in the way so I quit.

Moving to plan B. I going to have a gentleman out from Florida build me a new Coil harness that
is wired correctly and I am sending these back to Summit Racing since the guys at Wiring Specialties
were not interested in Helping me.

Here is the picture before I move the black clip back and now imagine how tight the space is.

Just cut the heat shrink off, then when all the terminals are out of the connector, you can add a new piece of heat shrink before pushing the terminals back into the connector.

Just a Quick Update (( 02-05-23 ))

At some point have to install this 150amp breaker on the frame.

Not really needed but Billet Stuff is really nice

So, I saw the add for Screaming Chicken on the site and well I am ordering more parts from them. These will be on the next order.

Power Steering Fluid and Another Fuel Leak (( 02-12-23 ))

I had filled the Power Steering Reservoir prior to the first start and I forgot to check the fluid levels after we started
the car. A couple days later I decided to check the fluid levels and guess what it was empty.

Andrew AKA Dr. EFI Noticed the O2 reading were all over the place so I ordered a new new Holley O2 Sensor from Summit.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ed6b08-me.png

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b675a3b-me.jpg

Apparently I missed the pft tape on this fitting. So now I am going back and correcting this major mistake as
I don't want the car to catch on fire. I will need to empty the fuel line again and yes I wish would have fixed both fuel
issue's at the same time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ceff73b-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bc60c80-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f51bc5d-me.jpg

I also disconnected the Fuel Pump power so the fuel wouldn't drip on the weatherpack connector.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...013f552-me.jpg

Once the fuel stopped leaking I reconnected the line.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4d587ad-me.jpg

I used some simple green to dilute the fuel and poured the mixture into a small bottle that I will drop off at my
buddy's shop for him to dispose of properly.

A Long Long Time Ago I was supposed to start this project ((02-12-23 ))

I actually can't tell you how long ago I bought this ford Fan set up. But what I can tell you is Andrew (( Dr EFI )) suggested I
buy this fan set for the PWM fan controller.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...89d0993-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e7eb30e-me.jpg

Remember, Chemo really killed my memory so labeling all of the wires really helps me.

Plus it looks really cool.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0f8b45c-me.jpg

Clear heat shrink over the top prevent the printing from coming off.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4df0ec5-me.jpg

I started searching the engine bay to see where I could mount it and I quickly decided it needed to go on the front of the core support.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9afa419-me.jpg

As you can see it's not a small module.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...196834e-me.jpg

I removed the Overflow tank and marked a hole so I could drill & mount the module.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2c863ea-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8ce3515-me.jpg

Module is prepped to mounted.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...62ae419-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a451c3a-me.jpg

A quick trip to Home Depot for Stainless Steel Hardware. I bought Phillips head and Hex head bolts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b1bc794-me.jpg

I opted to use the Hex head bolts as it would be very difficult to get Phillips screwdriver on the bolt due to it's location.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...58de53b-me.jpg

Looking down you can see it would be much easier to get a box end wrench on the bolt. Hopefully I will never have
to remove it but with proper planning it will be much easier to work on.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...257cd20-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c0c3315-me.jpg

Now that the module is mounted I need to route the wires cleanly and safely.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2e60366-me.jpg

So there is this nice factory hole in the core support.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...11e8b21-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...31a7633-me.jpg

The wire would route into the engine bay, then down and over towards the fan.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9fb23e3-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d1cd30e-me.jpg

Getting power to the fan is the next project.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6f928db-me.jpg

I am planning on securing the harness in the middle.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c5adb36-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3a321a4-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6c09b9e-me.jpg

I was late so I called it a night and like always I a sure this wire routing will change tomorrow.

Holley Cylinder Head Ground Wire (( 02-13-23 ))

I noticed the Holley Cylinder Head ground wire was really close to being pinched by the line clamp. So I removed it
from the back of the Cylinder Head and ran the wire further down the loom.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c8e4cc1-me.jpg

It is now at least one inch from the line clamp

Working on the PWM wire routing (( 02-15-23 ))

This is not like me to leave my tools out.

Apparently, I was very tired and just didn't have it in me to clean up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e6eea08-me.jpg

Today, I will be finishing up the connection to the fan and the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8e99376-me.jpg

I started running the wires to the fan like I had originally planned but that quickly changed.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4940649-me.jpg

I will need to make the hole a little bigger so I can put in a grommet. Which will allow me to run the wires safely through this hole.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ffcc8e9-me.jpg

I used Vaseline on the drill bit to capture the metal shavings.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b7ec81f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...52d6417-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...408616f-me.jpg

The hole is bigger and the grommet fits perfectly.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...49ed086-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d1fe8b7-me.jpg

I taped the three wires together to make it easier to route them.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7a3b516-me.jpg

Mocking up the wire routing to the battery.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...34649c7-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...824f3eb-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6e6f190-me.jpg

Calling it a night and of course I created a list of things that I need to do.

Painless Performance LS1/LS6 Coil Harness (( 02-16-23 ))

I ordered the Painless Performance LS1/LS6 Coil Harness from Summit Racing and I plan to send the Wiring Specialties Harness to Andrew to see if he can rework it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b64a00a-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b460abb-me.jpg

I mocked it up and it works and I only have to rework the last two Cylnders.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4af908e-me.jpg

You can see there is about 3" of excess wire.

I'm sure you have already verified this, but does the sway bay make contact with the tow bar when the car is on jackstands?

It actually sits in front of the sway bar so there are no issue's

I will get better pictures (( Side Shots )) today and add it to this post.
