Marty,

Since it seems like you’re near the finish line; how do you plan to use it…and how often?

Finishing up the PWM Wiring...well kinda (( 02-16-23 ))

Me and this Optima battery are starting to become intimate as I a have held here so many times in the last two weeks.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...06a03df-me.jpg

I used stainless steel self tapping screws to secure the Adel Clamps which I acquired on one of my trips to the local Napa Autoparts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...152c063-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c822da9-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...36a6457-me.jpg

I had two area's that I wanted to add a little more protection so I wrapped this are in DEI EXO Sleeve and then wrapped it in black electrical tape to make it disappear.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2989ab6-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...846f5c5-me.jpg

There is actually more clearance here then it looks like.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...de451ce-me.jpg

I love these connectors

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2e24602-me.jpg

I staggered these so I didn't have a bulky section in the wire loom.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b1e75c2-me.jpg

Fan is connected and if you look closely in the 2nd pictures you can see my new attic ladder which allows me to get to all of the parts for the car.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...544ca1e-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9296f81-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5cbf7df-me.jpg

I still have to remove the Painless Performance relay and make the final battery connections. Which I plan to do tomorrow.

syborg tt 02-25-2023 06:14 AM

So I went and did it as I ordered a box today from Amazon. Of course I also ordered a drip tray for my lift and a couple Spectra Air Filters.

Mike Norris Catch Can...Do I really need it ?? (( 02-17-23 ))

So I have had this Norris Catch can since the Syborg truck and I feel like I should install it on the car.

It fits really nice right here and I can lower it down a little bit.

Removing the Painless Fan Relay and connecting the PWM module. (( 02-17-23 ))

While the battery is out I am going to enlarge this hole so I can secure the Hot wire from the fan module.

Anvil Carbon/Fiberglass Inner Fender Install (( 02-18-23 ))

I can't tell you how excited I am to install the drivers side inner fender.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e309f00-me.jpg

Just one more thing out of my Attic Office

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...06dbc1a-me.jpg

Thankfully I have a bunch of sheets of cardboard.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...548dd3e-me.jpg

I needed to run to Home Depot for a few 5/16'' Fender Washer (no I didn't as I found them days later) so I could secure the Anvil inners to the fender.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3ce49fd-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...eea06ca-me.jpg

I also installed the Rad Rides hardware while I was here as I don't plan to take these off again.

Yep, Not a problem at since it's an empty case.

Final Intake Tube Mock Up (( 02-21-23 ))

Once again I played with the intake tube so I can get the bracket made to support the intake tube.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...062e346-me.jpg

I used the blue tape to reference where the tubes need to be once the clamps are tight. What you can't see is how
far I had to push everything into the couplers.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ea25d4-me.jpg

You can see where I plan to install the bracket from the fan shroud to the intake tube.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f8e3286-me.jpg

Apparently I forgot to tighten the exhaust clamps when Dr EFI Andrew was setting up the tune on the car. Good News
they are now tight and at the proper angle so they are above the frame rail.

2nd Chance Screaming Chicken DBW Pedal Bracket (( 02-25-23 ))

I ordered this bracket a long long time ago and somehow misplaced it. When I ordered I told Dave at Screaming Chicken
that the best way to find it is to order another one. Well, I was correct as the day I went out to the garage to install the
bracket I found the first one I ordered.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8636261-me.jpg

Step One - Remove the DBW Assembly

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d581ebb-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f929129-me.jpg

Step Two - Remove the factory pedal.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...38bfe8f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...be2525e-me.jpg

Step Three - Cut out this Template

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f61ccfd-me.jpg

Step Four - Place the Template and Drill a hole in the target.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...de388a3-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e7b5abe-me.jpg

Step Five -- Remove my bad ass Billet Pedal

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cef5e16-me.jpg

Pictures for reference

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a43aa99-me.jpg

Step Six -- Install Pedal on the new bracket from the guys at Screaming Chicken.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ae540d0-me.jpg

One of the features I like with this bracket is it allows me to move the pedal over roughly 1/4"
which I think is what I need to miss the carpet on the trans tunnel.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0278e32-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...985c900-me.jpg

Eventually I did move it over to the other side and it clears the carpet

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...95fc5c3-me.jpg

One thing that I will have to do is replace the nut that I am using as a spacer. If you are using a factory
pedal you won't have this issue.

Thanks again,

I know I'm the minority here but every time I see an K&N air filter I think back to this story my buddy told me last year - how he'll never use a K&N air filter again.

He had 2 different vehicles with problems resulting purely from those filters.

"It's the oil on them. It ruined the MAF sensors. 01 Silverado and 18 Diesel Cruze. 65,000 miles and 82,000 respectively and poof! Sensors went bad."

FWIW I guess.

I have heard the same story's and if I put 60,000 miles on this car and a sensor or two go bad I am going to be happy as it means i am actually driving the car.

For the Love of Carbon I love my little Cut Off Wheel (( 02-28-22 ))

Since I am using the Afco LS Radiator setup which is larger then the stock radiator I need to modify this beautiful Anvil Carbon

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...14452eb-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ad5ca02-me.jpg

I have had the closeout panels since the first build and I contacted Anvil to see if they have one that matches the radiator
cover. They do have one that matches and they are taking very good care of me and sending me one that matches perfectly.

Holley Dash Wiring (( 03-03-23 ))

I can't tell you how excited I am to be working on the interior and yes the Christmas Tree is still up and it has not come down since 2002.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...004cc44-me.jpg

Pieces and Parts

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...95134ea-me.jpg

The Dash insert comes with a very nice bracket to support the Holley Dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...009f59f-me.jpg

I needed to clean out the threads as the supplied hardware would not screw in.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f05becc-me.jpg

Another quick trip to on the four Home Depots within 3 miles of my home. I purchase yet another (can't find mine)
2" Hole Saw. My plan is to drill a slightly smaller hole then necessary which will allow for a tighter fit.

Holley Dash Wiring (( 03-05-23 ))

Routing the wires for the Holley Dash

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2316542-me.jpg

I tried to make the power wires look factory even though no one will ever see them.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c32a32a-me.jpg

Of course I labeled all of them.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fe6bab3-me.jpg

Anvil Radiator Close Out. (( 03-09-23 ))

I just want to say the guys at Anvil are the best. I called them and told them my closeout panel didn't match the inner fenders

Here is the new piece that arrived in the mail days later.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6372ea7-me.jpg

I also labeled a few more wires from the Holley ECU

Tucked it neatly on the firewall above the steering column.

Time to trim the carpet around the Holley Transmission Harness.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d7eb389-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2c1d4b4-me.jpg

There was a minor gap in the grommet so I filled it with Silicone.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fa4e454-me.jpg

Okay, this was fun. Time to reshape the carpet with the Heat Gun and it is very important that you heat the backside of the carpet not the front.

All better.

Yes, I did and since I have memory issues (side effect of chemo) this really helps me when I am working on the car.

Neutral Saftey Switch (( 03-12-23 ))

It's all about the detail and being able to service / get to / find all of the wires if your on the side of the road broke down.

I need/want to route the wiring for the neutral safety switch through one of the shifter brackets versus around the bracket. Doing this will
direct it straight up to the firewall. I took a couple reference pictures so I don't have to try to remember where the wires plug in. The
good news is I can only actually screw up two of the wires.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...31887a1-me.jpg

Sorry this is a terrible picture but the bracket is laying on the carpet is the one that needs to be modified.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f9c71c5-me.jpg

I started by using smaller drill bits stepping them up slowly till I got to the 5/8'' bit. I tried to use a step bit but that SOB ripped
the bracket right out of my hand.

Trust me using the 1/2 drill scares me but I did drill very slow.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...413cbfa-me.jpg

After the hole was drilled I filed it into a square hole since no one make a square drill bit. Well that is a lie as the do
make them for wood working. Trust me look it up.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0bbbbf7-me.jpg

It took a couple tries to get the size correct.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9bd1371-me.jpg

A little bit of touch up paint.

Misc Stuff (( 03-12-23 ))

I figured I might as well label this wire as I know 6 months from not I am going to have no clue what it is for.

Last mounting point for the Holley Harness is being installed today.

Love this stuff

I put a little to much on the base of the Mag Daddy Magnet mount...Opps

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7230c20-me.jpg

I moved back the sound deadening so I could bound them directly to metal. I love using the Mag Daddy magnets while
the I am working on the car as i can move the mounts around as needed.

I am still on the fence if I am going to install Kick panel speakers. Right now I am looking at these from Kicker.

Vintage Air Heater Hose Routing (( 03-17-23 ))

I started working on the hose routing and the good news I don't plan to make it permanent just yet as I keep changing my mind.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e5b79b0-me.jpg

I need to find a pre-bent hose from the Autoparts store that will jog around the massive Anvil Carbon Inner Fenders.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0b54fe0-me.jpg

I also need to make sure the battery wires are not effected by the location of the hoses.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...180efac-me.jpg

Hose # 1 would have been perfect if only it was a 5/8's hose.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c087061-me.jpg

Hose #2 looks like it will work and it's a 5/8's hose.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7ae0e1f-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b56718-me.jpg

Napa Part # 11529

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7d7c01c-me.jpg

Yes, I label everything

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7619cc2-me.jpg

I settled on these two hoses.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e772ed2-me.jpg

and NO I am not making the final connections as my brain isn't convince this is going to work.

Holley Dash & Autometer Clock Wiring (( 03-18-23 ))

I am finally installing the Autometer Clock wire harness and as you can see I stacked the clocks instructions with
the American Auto Wire instructions below it.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1a8e27b-me.jpg

Since I am going to pull the power and lights on from the headlight switch I needed to find the switch. Well, I search for
it for 20 minutes and then realized I had already installed on the Classic Dash surround. DA !!!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4be3cf0-me.jpg

I powered the car back up and plugged in the switch and started testing the circuits
till I found the two I needed. The one that is labeled Ign On is actually lights on.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bec2d09-me.jpg

Labeled the Clocks harness.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a611688-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ead7e1-me.jpg

I then moved on to wire routing and installed a few more Mag Daddy Magnets. I love these things !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3c6c9f6-me.jpg

Simple push them into the sound deadening and then trim it out with an Exacto Knife.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f6f8547-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...36e0d9e-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1456d6e-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b7da049-me.jpg

Note to self the Blue/White wire is for a Tach Signal.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...990c364-me.jpg

Calling it a night.
