Kicker Under Carpet Wiring (( 04-13-23 ))
Hi All,
There has not been a lot of progress lately due to lack of time. The charity (www.ridejanieride.org ) that I part of main event is coming up this weekend and I can't wait. I have been trying to sneak out whenever possible. It's finally time to tuck the wires under the carpet in the TechFlex undercarpet flat weave. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...105014d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3e1690d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...83913ec-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0aea9ca-me.jpg I used some Velcro to keep the heat gun trigger on and my bike stand to hold the heat gun. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a692c33-me.jpg I marked out where the Bitchen center console the Kenny built. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e169a4a-me.jpg Wire has been neatly routed and protected. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4297b4a-me.jpg I also received the DEI Under Carpet Lite heat insulation that I will be using in the rear of the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0deabc0-me.jpg I plan to add a little extra in the rear adjacent to the DSE Sub-Frame Connector. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d2a8084-me.jpg and don't forget to Buckle Up out there. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0501496-me.jpg |
I made another To List (( 04-17-23 ))
So, I made another to do list and holy crap there is so much more today.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bd380ad-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...48e6068-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5adb5a3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7ff49c7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...dc717bc-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8396f6f-me.jpg |
More Small Projects (( 04-24-23 ))
The month of April was very busy for me as every year we do a charity event for local for local family's battling Cancer. The To Do list
that I just posted allowed me to look at everything that I needed to do and it also allowed me to find the small projects that I could do when I only have a small amount of time. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1eb4cb7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...485cd60-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...aaf5b8f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...abe1f4d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...884b69a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0bd7fbc-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...22a03d0-me.jpg |
Terminator X - Fuel Level Wiring (( 05-06-23 ))
I needed connect the fuel level wire to the Holley ECU and of course I forget to run the wire down the passenger
side of the car. I did however run it down the drivers side but Holley wire I needed was on the passenger side. So, now i have to neatly behind the Vintage Air Unit. Which turned out to be a major pain the backside. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...21a8f2b-me.jpg I of course wrapped the shifter brackets with a towel as they are sharp as can be. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9127416-me.jpg See those gray wires they are being relocated to the drivers side of the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5c6e74c-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b7b56e-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d51a04a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fd1d1ae-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...40499f5-me.jpg Temporarily connected http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9ca868a-me.jpg |
Custom Works Front Tow Hook (( 05-08-23 ))
I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one of these
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...67f6532-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9dc622c-me.jpg |
Another Small Project (( 05-14-23 ))
I purchased the Anvil Radiator cover and I needed to add a couple Rivnuts to the outside two holes.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9d76172-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3527778-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6d8bde3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...92000a9-me.jpg |
Gates Power Grip Hose Clamps (( 05-14-23 ))
I finally installed the Gates PowerGrip hose clamps on the heater hoses.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8f66ac5-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7f1757d-me.png http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fcf5def-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...dcd666a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...324a78b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ae502a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2cb08ed-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0469a71-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...919ad15-me.jpg Eventually, I will install the Gates clamps on the Water Pump http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...83e17f6-me.jpg |
Coming along nicely, Marty!
|
Great updates Marty, as usual.

Ride Tech ARP Hardware ( 05-14-23 )
Time it remove the blue tape that is on the frame which is under the sway bar mount.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b34eb48-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...89f93f9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d54455b-me.jpg |
Kicker Wiring to the Trunk ( 05-20-23 )
I finally plugged the Terminator X in for the last time.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2d09f71-me.jpg Hopefully this will be the last time I have to lift the carpet up. It's time to secure the Kicker wires that head to the trunk. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...94d0631-me.jpg I pulled out the old ruler for this project. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7d934a7-me.jpg I made strips of the Sound Deadening to secure down the TechFlex flat loom http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7c3005d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f177bfa-me.jpg I secured the controller behind the console bracket for the time being. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...adf5408-me.jpg |
Another Trip to D&R Classics (( 05-20-23 ))
I need to give a shout out to Dotty at D&R Classics for hanging out at the store for me to get there 5 minutes before
closing. I can't thank them enough as they are so nice to work with and they always seem to have everything I need for my car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2a9f325-me.jpg I needed water shields for the doors http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...03bc630-me.jpg From D&R I headed to my warehouse to grab the back seat, sail panels and the rear kick panels. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5139890-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8c0ae9d-me.jpg I put a blanket over everything as I really needed some Taco's http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c4cabfb-me.jpg Door Panels are in the box :-) http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ef5d369-me.jpg I forgot how much I love the TMI interior. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...479da1f-me.jpg If you guys haven't noticed the new vendor on Lat-G please go take a look at Screaming Chicken as they have some nice stuff. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0fa494b-me.jpg All of this needs to go inside the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b141960-me.jpg Planning where my door pulls are going to be installed is going to be fun as they have to clear the Ride Tech Tiger Cage Door Bars. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1c23ff2-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8c93f61-me.jpg More to come on he Door Pull location http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...29ec517-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1183a8d-me.jpg |
Tiger Cage Main Hoop Hardware (( 05-20-23 ))
Okay, So I assure you I said a slew of choice words installing the final hardware for the Tiger Cage main hope. It's not the fault of
the bar it's the kick panels are so close to two of the bolts that you basically have to tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cd7e427-me.jpg I had to break out the dreaded Anti-Seize !!!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d4af085-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2038f61-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7a39a37-me.jpg I laid in the wire gutters and they need some serious cleaning, prep and paint. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...56922ad-me.jpg Ugh this sucks !!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e53856f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d316dab-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0298bd0-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...47b897f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5826680-me.jpg I coated them with the Eastwood rust convertor paint and hoped for no rain. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...570b87e-me.jpg |
Tiger Cage Main Hoop Hardware (( 05-20-23 )) Part II
I secured the leather from the package tray to the rear panel.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...534d216-me.jpg Up next it was time to install the rear kick panels. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...35966f5-me.jpg I discovered two issues. One being the Hoop is in the way and the other is a bump in the kick panel that runs into the DSE Wheel tubs. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cc342b3-me.jpg Time to cut out a big chunk of plastic. I peeled back the leather and started cutting with my new shears. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c2c3d8c-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...14237fa-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f623bca-me.jpg Of Course I had to do the same on the other side. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...68e27f9-me.jpg Quess what the hoop is in the way of the kick panel wrapping around the "B" pillar. Ugh !!!!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cf5d881-me.jpg About 30 or 40 minutes later both kick panels were installed. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6b9dc32-me.jpg Time to poke the holes for the Seat Belt Planet DOT approve Harness's http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...01f9cc2-me.jpg Love this back seat as I may have had a little something to do with the Design. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...09e84d1-me.jpg It's in, well kinda the bottoms are not as I still need to pad the hump and install the leather piece that goes over the hump. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9992d31-me.jpg It was late so I called it a night. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...de6be11-me.jpg |
Pieces and Parts (( 05-28-23 ))
Back up in the garage attic we go to look for more parts and also take inventory on what is up there so I stop buying the same parts twice.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e6293c1-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0a89147-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a6bb86b-me.jpg Once again I am trying to figure out why the Oil Pressure sensor continues to leak. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bd7d23b-me.jpg Trying at different Teflon Tape. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4dcbae4-me.jpg I picked up some parts from Screaming Chicken and today I will be installing one of them. Today project will be to install the LED Dome light. Out with the Old http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...377f4ee-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5bfce37-me.jpg In with the new http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8868947-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7e93dee-me.jpg Yep it works http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7569cb2-me.jpg All these tools just to swap a Dome Light http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...665a4a3-me.jpg My Daughter helped me poke holes in the carpet with an old Soldering Iron so I could install the Seat Belt Planet 4-Point Harness's. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e482a82-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2ec0155-me.jpg I ran a tap through every hole as some of them had sound deadening in them. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c440b92-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3c66468-me.jpg Installed the wire gutter on the passenger side. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ba510a9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4955751-me.jpg I had the trim the drivers side just a little bit around the Tiger Cage http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ae270d-me.jpg |
You got the best kind of help.
Great pic of your daughter too, MJ. |
I really hate this Sensor (( 06-03-23 ))
So I spent a little bit of time on the phone with Holley and they have no clue why it's leaking. They suggested I buy a new sensor and to use a Hi Temp Thread Sealant.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8a02804-me.jpg I am really getting good getting this thing out !!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b7f1369-me.jpg Cure time is 72 Hours so now we wait !! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c9a1d7a-me.jpg |
Metal Radiator Hoses & Thermostat (( 06-04-23 ))
Moving on to the Radiator Hoses and replacing the old thermostat.
Good thing it is only filled with distilled water. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...540a3a9-me.jpg Intake tube has to be removed so I can get to the clamps. I will most likely be installing Gates Power Grips on these in the future. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c32acb2-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...42cb7f2-me.jpg I noticed that I needed to trim the hose so it could seat properly. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9c051e5-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a91f8a9-me.jpg Eak, I need to clean this up http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...803b119-me.jpg What the heck is that http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3d6e1f9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9ccc09f-me.jpg I need to shave a little bit off the Radiator hose and make some sort of bead on the ends http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5906de3-me.jpg |
Planning ahead for the Overflow Tank drain (( 06-04-23 ))
One of my Pet Peeves is the Coolant overflow Tank drain. I hate when you have to drain it and it goes
everywhere. This time I planned ahead and drilled a hole in the Anvil Carbon Inner Fender just for this purpose. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e798dbd-me.jpg My feeble attempt at trying to figure out where the hole needs to go. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d809a05-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f40f231-me.jpg Perfection http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...feb7b27-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a5236aa-me.jpg |
Door Pulls (( 06-04-23 ))
Find a set of Door Pulls that I really like.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5867cca-me.jpg I also created yet another list. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5e5a0b8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cf2a78a-me.jpg Maybe it's the wrong fitting (( Yes back to the Oil Pressure Switch )) http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b95537b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6d498bd-me.jpg |
Coolant Hose Modification (( 06-08-23 ))
Dennis at High Speed Welding made some modification on the Coolant hose to help keep the hose in place.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...957f391-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7666086-me.jpg I plan to just paint the ends as they will be covered by the hoses. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9601d31-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9601d31-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b8506cf-me.jpg |
Cleaning up the water neck (( 06-09-23 ))
I was going to buy a new one and I just never did so for now I am just going to clean this one up.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...db065ab-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...94d2f81-me.jpg It looks a little better http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2a50ef2-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b3fe62-me.jpg Picked up a new Thermostat http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...15fce98-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...dbdccfe-me.jpg Test fitting the lower hose to make sure there is a sufficient gap. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c5249c5-me.jpg I brushed on a little paint and primer in one gloss black. I am sure that I will powder coat these again next Winter. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f5871c3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...efbfa77-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...11d2b37-me.jpg |
Well, It's out again !!! (( 06-09-23 ))
Okay, here is what we know and here is how we solved it.
Apparently the guys at Wagner put in a adapter in the block and left it open when they shipped it to me. I was able to figure that out by all of the pictures I took. Thank God !!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6e130c0-me.jpg I tried one last adapter and of course it didn't fit. Trying to figure out what actually goes in that hole has become a giant pain in the butt. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...879042c-me.jpg |
Coolant hoses going on for the last time I hope (( 06-10-23 ))
Hopefully, this will be the last time these hoses go on.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d8eeb98-me.jpg Lower hose went on very easy http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9e3c4d8-me.jpg Thankfully I have an assortment of small tools that made it easy to install and tighten the hose clamp. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a275fb9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1f53fb2-me.jpg I did need to trim just a little bit of the hose. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f91789d-me.jpg Remy Approved http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4db9a2f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...31e3e87-me.jpg Another while your here moment. Trying to decide how I am going to secure the Vintage Air wire to the AC Hose. (( I'm looking for some cool idea's )) http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f4d9559-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c8d571b-me.jpg I moved to the underside of the car since I remembered that I needed to cap a sensor that I may use in the future. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...888787f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2fff835-me.jpg Neatly tucked up on top of the transmission. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bca68b4-me.jpg |
I found it (( 06-11-23 ))
Here is what I know there was something in that hole and I remember it. However, I have no clue where it is.
This time I decided to remove the Wiring that was in the way to make it easier to try to figure out what the heck the adapter is. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...53e2c52-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...25cf29a-me.jpg When the car came apart there was a plug in the back of the block. So, I decided to spent some more time looking through all of the parts that where in the attic and in the trunk of the car and I finally found it !!! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...64ffd8e-me.jpg Of course I put it in and it works. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...aa414ae-me.jpg In the end it is a -4 ORB fitting that Kenny modified to close up the hole. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c4c9c56-me.jpg (( 06-13-23 )) I headed over to High Speed Welding to have him make the fitting I needed which is a -4 to 1/8 NPT http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b3e1833-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...06faf1c-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...27afbe7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2cb0934-me.jpg I also removed the tape that Andrew AKA Dr EFI put on the Injector Harness. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ce5edd-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ca22c0-me.jpg |

Enjoying the thoroughness of your updates MJ.
With Remy overseeing, no surprise you’re closer to the finish line. :walkingdog: |
Final Intake Tube Mock Up (( 06-13-23 ))
Mocking Up the intake tube for the last time before I make the final cuts.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...881a5c8-me.jpg I need to take off at lease an inch off of the end going into the throttle body and at least 2" off the end going into the hump hose by the radiator. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e69935f-me.jpg You can see that I will also be cutting the 2nd half of the intake tube as well. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3b16157-me.jpg |
Fesler Door Vents (( 06-16-23 ))
I need a quick and easy project as I only had an hour. So I decided to install the Fesler Door Vents.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c5417f1-me.jpg Somewhere along the way of me sticking my hand in this hole the paint got chipped and the metal got a little bent. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4b5a261-me.jpg I modified my Vise-Grips as not to cause any more paint damage. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b6418aa-me.jpg Good Enough http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...48d3b8a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...abb27e0-me.jpg |
Seat Set Back Plates (( 06-16-23 ))
Okay, Yes I know I am short however I like to sit back from the Steering wheel and apparently I drive with the ball of my foot.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a219906-me.jpg They say it is all about the details so the Zinc coated bolts are going to have to go. The funny part is the only people that will ever notice the Zinc coated bolt will be the people looking at the underside of the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e442276-me.jpg The main purpose is to have studs so I don't have to try to get the bolts into the floor through the carpet. I also like the idea of not having to kneel on the seat stud. |
Seat Studs (( 06-24-23 ))
Continuing on with the Seat Stud Project.
Here is what I came up with. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f443ab0-me.png http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8a81488-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...805864b-me.jpg Since, I am using studs I will need to make sure none of the sound deadening in the threads. The tool of choice is a nut driver and all you have to do is gently move the sound deadening back. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...519dcdf-me.jpg Just stick in the hole and wiggle it around. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f0e27be-me.jpg Studs are in now i just need to smooth back the sound deadening. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...824d88a-me.jpg Quick trip to the local Ace Hardware for some fender washers. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...98adc10-me.jpg Brackets are back in. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3803057-me.jpg |
More simple projects (( 06-26-23 ))
Not a lot of time this week to work on the car so I went out and did a couple small projects.

Replacing the brake fluid. (( 06-30-23 ))
I am doing this because I can't remember for the life of me if the car had Dot 3 or Dot 4 and it's also possible I mixed them. So I am sucking all the fluid out and starting over.

My OCD is killing me (( 06-30-23 ))
I love these Velcro straps and I will be using them to secure the wire for the Vintage Air.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ba261d8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1c4480f-me.jpg Eventually I will hide the wire behind the line. |
Vintage Air Final Connection (( 07-02-23 ))
Today I will be working with the one arm man. I needed to get him out of the house so he could feel somewhat human again.
Since the line was in the car and I wasn't removing it we went to plan "B". We ran the line through a small hole right above the inner fender and out under the headlight. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...75144e0-me.jpg We raised the car up just high enough to let the line reach the crimping tool. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b8d5558-me.jpg Finally crimped and attached to the AC compressor. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7cbe0f1-me.jpg Next Up filling the car with distilled water. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cf8f170-me.jpg |
Vacuum filling the Cooling System (( 07-02-23 ))
Let's just say this was a big learning experience.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...607b427-me.jpg Per the instructions we made all of the connections an applied Air to create a vacuum. Well, we were only able to get 5 bars which is not even close to the 20 we need. This meant we had leaks and most likely more then one. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...215cb8f-me.jpg Found leak number one. Apparently I had the clamp to close to the end of the hose which caused the leak. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9fbdb09-me.jpg Leak number 2 & 3 had the same issue. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9b94935-me.jpg yes this one sucked to get to http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ba6fd7-me.jpg Years ago I made this block and it is the exact same height as the lift and man did it come in handy that day. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...897eea5-me.jpg I moved all of them down and this issue has been resolved. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1543d89-me.jpg Next up with the thermostat housing. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d515505-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f62f480-me.jpg Well, this one was all my fault. I picked up a thermostat for and LS1 not remembering that this motor has the Wagner front drive and a new water pump. So let's just say it leaked. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2745633-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3c771c2-me.jpg Back to Filling and yes this to we hit 20 http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b6ae506-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3cfaff9-me.jpg Eventually I plan to add coolant so I am leaving the rope up for that day. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f892537-me.jpg If you are only going to do this a couple times this is what I used. It is definitely not a commercial grade item but for $40.00 it worked.
