This was just released by the Governor. I hope this doesn't pass.

Subject: Join our first national Day of Action

Friend --

In his State of the Union address, President Obama reminded us: The victims of shootings like those in Newtown, Aurora, Oak Creek, and Tucson deserve a vote on legislation that will reduce gun violence and better protect our children and our communities.

So this Friday, February 22nd, Organizing for Action volunteers all around the country are participating in a Day of Action focused on one simple goal: get Congress to pass legislation to require universal background checks and remove loopholes.

There's an event near you in Eugene -- will you be there?

Here are the details:
What: Day of Action event in Eugene

Where: 8th & Oak
Eugene, OR 97401

When: Friday, February 22nd
5:30 pm

The President has already taken key steps, but Congress needs to act, and we need to demand it.

Requiring background checks for all gun sales is a common-sense solution that 92 percent of Americans, 89 percent of Republicans, and 74 percent of NRA members support. We've got to keep firearms from getting into the wrong hands -- and this is a crucial first step.

So come out on Friday in your community and make sure your representatives and senators know where you stand. RSVP now:

Thanks,

Sara

Scott --

Maybe you've seen firsthand how gun violence can rip apart a family and a community.

Or maybe you're concerned by what you see on the news.

Whatever your reason, those in Congress who oppose sensible change need to hear from you: Share your personal story or views on why Congress should act right now to help protect our kids and reduce gun violence.

Your story will inspire others to speak out and show legislators that now is the time.

President Obama said it: "More than a thousand birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries have been stolen from our lives by a bullet from a gun" in just the two months since the tragedy in Newtown.

Each of those families deserves a vote by Congress on commonsense measures to help protect our kids.

But we need to demand it.

It's easy to share your story or point of view:

1. Provide your basic information. (Please note: For your privacy, we'll only publish your city and your first name and last initial.)
2. If you have a photo or video you'd like to share, paste a link into that field. You can paste an Instagram or Twitter link, but cannot upload a photo directly.
3. In the final box, compose your personal story or views about reducing gun violence.
4. After you agree to the submission terms, hit the green "Tell Your Story" button. Our staff will review and post your submission.

Please share your story today:

http://my.barackobama.com/Share-Your...n-Gun-Violence

This won't be easy, but if we can save even one life, it'll be worth it.

Thanks,

Jon

Taking guns away from law abiding citizens because you believe that the criminals have too many guns, is like having yourself castrated because you believe the neighbors have too many kids.

Why don't they just take the guns away from the criminals? There's less of them. :sieg:
