Door Pull Hardware (( 08-04-23 ))
Sticking with the ARP theme I ordered more bolts.
These will be used to Red Pull Straps. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ce728d9-me.jpg |
Final Battery Wiring (( 08-05-23 )) Well Maybe ???
Trying to decide if I want to move the battery shut off to the top or leave it on the Side Posts.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...91de067-me.jpg I also noticed it was bent and preventing which was preventing it from actually killing the battery. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7efa8d0-me.jpg I added SAE washers to the top post wires so they would stop moving when I tightened the bolt. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fd4ea5b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...aeff106-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0075124-me.jpg I also put the battery on the Optima charger since it was dead. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f7b5ccb-me.jpg Remy the Supervisor. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8e54247-me.jpg Kinda funny Mike and I were talking about this bolt the other day and yes it seized up while we were installing it. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c5796a5-me.jpg |

Inner Fender Bolt (( 08-05-23 ))
Just being safe here.
This inner fender bolt was protruding into the area near where the coolant hoses are. So just to be safe I shortened the bolt a little bit. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...aed1eec-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4553b51-me.jpg Whatever you do don't let that hit your hand. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3e081d2-me.jpg I quickly pulled the bolt out before it fused it self to the clip. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ff32ea4-me.jpg and the good news is my hand is healing for the cut off wheel. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...09d3e8a-me.jpg |

Went for Tacos and I decided to go back out in the garage.
I noticed my battery shutoff wasn't working correctly and I think I found the problem. This is supposed to be perfectly flat and as you can see it is bent which most likely was from me bending negative battery wires terminal. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e6b7e70-me.jpg I was temporarily able to straighten it and problem is solved and a new one is on order. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...df04579-me.jpg Hand is healing. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...09d3e8a-me.jpg |

OER Kick Panels Modifications (08-07-23) I am still out here
Drivers Side
Getting a bunch of little stuff done today was the goal. I picked up some OER Kick Panels from D&R Classic the other day and today I am going to modify them to fit. I can say these are a very nice piece and I highly recommend them. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b1c782e-me.jpg Need to make sone modifications so I can get them in. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7e53840-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e510e6a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b558b61-me.jpg Test fitting and they fit exactly how they are supposed to fit. Now I just need to make the modification needed so they work around all of the wiring that I have added to this area. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...10d6c41-me.jpg Love this tape. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0383601-me.jpg Cut Notes http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b61bb0-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c11804f-me.jpg I am going to take a little bit more off this side. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b61bb0-me.jpg Once I am happy I will put some Tech-Flex wrap around these wires. |
08-08-12 Weird Day in the Garage
Today was a very weird day as this was my 11 year chemo start date anniversary and I really didn't feel like working on the
car so I decided to go out and look for the Holley EFI communication cable that I misplaced and whatever else I could find. I spent an hour cleaning up and organizing parts and pieces and then I found the Holley Cable on the wiper cowl. Which of course was right in front of my face the entire time. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e4f6561-me.jpg I put the Anvil Radiator cover on and wow is this a nice piece. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c2a217c-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ff65624-me.jpg Made Remy new napping place and I think he likes it. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ea5762a-me.jpg Found my hood hinges that Pro-Tek Powder Coating did for me many years ago. They are coated in dust (top rack in my warehouse) and since I don't need them now they are going to stay right where they are. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b8ebfd6-me.jpg |

Ron Wilson is in Town (( 08-11-23 ))
My good buddy Ron happened to be traveling through the area and he decided to spend the night. Ron also happens to
be building my old Green 70 Camaro. His brother is doing the paint and body and it is stunning. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a1a44d5-me.jpg While he was here he went over my car looking at everything and taking mental notes. I had just made a comment that I couldn't find the G-Force Crossmember shim stack and 1 second later he goes this one. I spent at least an hour looking for it and it was still on the rack right where I put it. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...374be8d-me.jpg We climbed in the car and he looked at everything and I did my best to show him as much as I could remember. The of course the Garage Supervisor showed up to have a talk Man to Dog with him. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2afb471-me.jpg |
Final Top Post Batter Wiring (( 08-13-23 ))
I had a little bit of time tonight so I went out and did another small project.
My plan is to add Techflex wrap to the battery wires to give it a finished look. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...29ef8b7-me.jpg Need to get out the hot knife to recut Techflex wrap. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...69b594f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1ad236e-me.jpg The yellow wire loop is strictly there to hold the terminal cover on. I plan to come up with a tag that says something funny or absurd. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7303040-me.jpg Added a small piece of electrical tape to get the fuse at the right angle so I could easily see it. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fd24da1-me.jpg All Better or should I say good enough. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5774be3-me.jpg I also removed the blue tape off the Anvil Carbon Inner Fender. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...235878b-me.jpg It's slowly but surely getting there. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d230bd3-me.jpg I still need to figure out something for the ground kill switch. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3e658c9-me.jpg |
Side Post Battery Wiring (( 08-13-23 ))
Since I bent the first brass battery shut off switch I need to swap it out with one that isn't bent.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...55f7a21-me.jpg I just hate the way the wires look on the kill switch. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d397ef8-me.jpg I added a start washer so I don't have to worry about the bolts coming loose. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3e5a50f-me.jpg I think I am going to glue this board to the kneeling pad as I can't believe how useful it is. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...94fd32a-me.jpg I highly doubt this will be the last time I mess with the ground wiring. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e48a68f-me.jpg Well I went and did it I now have a small padded cutting board. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4f6447a-me.jpg |

Billet Specialties vs Continental
So I am getting close to driving the car. Actually I could drive it but I just want to get some other stuff done before I drive it.
I dropped off the rims and tires at Village Auto for the guy to mount them and well the rear tires went on really easy. I can't say the same for the fronts. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...dc55de3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0ba5a1b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e58cc30-me.jpg He ran out of black wheels weights so I had to paint one set. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...44e5f33-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9ebd79e-me.jpg |
Classic Industries Door Panel (( 08-17-23 )) Part 1
Next project is the passenger side door panel.
As you can see the holes didn't really line up. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d0f39d1-me.jpg I gentle used the nut driver to push down on the backing to release it from the board so I could install the clips. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...27ad84e-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e93afd4-me.jpg I decided to make a "E Flute" cardboard template for drilling holes in the door. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...639d1b4-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...74222e0-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5681486-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...198079c-me.jpg Nailed it !! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2b5a1c5-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ff78a4-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...806d081-me.jpg Clips installed http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...19ecba7-me.jpg Everything lined up perfectly. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b2b3833-me.jpg Since I have three points of contact (window crank & arm rest screws) I was able to used this for drilling all of the holes in the door. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6d68b76-me.jpg I cut a small opening for the door handle to see how close I got. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b715f03-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0ccd91a-me.jpg Pictures doesn't show it but i was 3/8 of an inch to high. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c614276-me.jpg Calling it a night http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3858733-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...67cca21-me.jpg why so many tools ? http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...789c205-me.jpg This is kinda funny. Classic Industries Door Panel (( 08-19-23 )) Part 2
I took a day off from the car and it was nice couple days off.
Back to the car and back to the reason why I posted so many pictures in the last post. I am hoping the amount of pictures I added showed the amount of time it took to just do a simple door panel. If I had to quess I have at least 8 hours into just this one door and I am hoping the drivers side goes much faster. When I walked out to the garage I realized it was getting cluttered and I needed to clean it up. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...212402e-me.jpg Minutes later it looked like this. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8309dde-me.jpg One hour later the floor was washed and the garage smelled like Simple Green and even made a table with the new wheels and tires. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4a463d0-me.jpg My neighbors son came over and helped me with the door panel today. We marked all the holes that needed to be drilled for the plastic clips and spent 15 minutes making holes and hoping they all were in the proper place. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0778752-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fffbbf1-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fffbbf1-me.jpg We installed all of the clips on the back of the door panel. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ada169f-me.jpg I am still considering adding a small red door pull toward the front and ordering the black window cranks from the guys at www.ScreamingChicken.com http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6e716b8-me.jpg https://screamingchicken.com/1970-81...-window-crank/ https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-jooa...504685.jpg?c=2 and skip here is a Remy pic just for you http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bcabd57-me.jpg |
Parts going in the Attic (( 08-20-23 ))
I am finally cleaning up and moving the parts I no longer need to the Attic.
Of course I took a couple pictures so I remember what I put up there http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a4b3dd7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f4f0394-me.jpg Finally pulling the tape of the drivers door as it;s been on their since I rebuilt the hinges. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...75bb67d-me.jpg Oh the fun. So, this turned out to be much harder then I expected. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a28feb4-me.jpg I couldn't get the stud started and I assumed it was because of the spring pressure. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...249ebe4-me.jpg Opps, I dropped it http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...80068f9-me.jpg Since the part was freshly powder coated I added a small amount of heat shrink to the bottom of the spring to protect the paint. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...55be884-me.jpg That was fun. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5c4fa76-me.jpg Apparently it was the paint that was keeping it from starting. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...44cfe95-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b6597c8-me.jpg Got the tin man **** out. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...38545d8-me.jpg You use the allen wrench to spin it. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8425c35-me.jpg Almost done http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a8bad1e-me.jpg Nut is on and complete. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b97b94-me.jpg |

I really dig the Mag Daddy clips you used. Great idea. The dash support you were tapping, is there only one of those? Where about does it go? I took my 70 apart about 6-8 yrs ago and I don’t remember those. Thanks, Jim |
