The engine actually produces over 800 HP. It takes 80HP just to drive the supercharger. The HP at 1200 RPM is about 412 HP. Thing is BEAST! If you put your foot on the gas at WOT for about a minute, it sucks down 1.5 gallons of fuel. LOL The supercharger sucks in A LOT of air. If you put it in an office room that is 10X13,.....it will empty out that room in about a minute of all the air. :underchair: The engine is even SAE certified for the 707 HP and 650 lbs. TQ at the back of the crank. ALL HC, Hellcat engines are tested a bunch times BEFORE being installed into the cars to make sure they are dead on. And,....I'm willing to bet it does as good, if not better than the Zl1 on the road course. You heard it here first. :poke: Not knocking the ZL1,...that thing is beast as well. I love'em all. Great time for modern muscle cars. |

This is a great video explaining/describing the engine by one of the engineers.

I went to his fb page and saw this... "Lots of talk about the new Hellcat. Casey Carden, Todd Hanson, Peter Stolz and I got to test one at Chelsea last month while training some of the test drivers.. They held us to 150 on the oval in the rain:no helmets.. Bestest 'sounding' street legal car I ever heard or drove!!!" https://www.facebook.com/terry.earwood |
Looks cool in white with bronze hoops.

Here is a good read on the Hellcat for those that are interested.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...at_first_test/ From the article; Here's the part you've been waiting for. Our best run in the Hellcat resulted in 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds before whacking the quarter mile upside the head in 11.7 seconds at 125.4 mph. So many things to note here. First of all, as far as direct competition still on sale, the Hellcat is quicker than the Camaro ZL1. The supercharged Chevy takes 3.8 seconds to hit 60 mph and requires 12.2 seconds to run the corner, trapping out at 116.6 mph. So, that's a win. What about competition you can't buy new anymore, like -- for instance -- the recently discontinued 662-hp Shelby GT500? The lighter Snake needed only 3.5 seconds for its 60-mph blast and 11.6 seconds to go down the quarter mile with a trap speed of 125.7 mph. Slight advantage: Ford. That said, it's gone, so in terms of new-car sales, the Snake don't matter. What about the Viper? In the TA, we saw 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a quarter-mile spanking of 11.3 seconds with an astonishing trap speed of 129.3 mph. Of course, the Hellcat weighs 1000 pounds more than its big (but smaller) brother. |
