Started to do a little body mods to the rear tail panel this weekend, but I forgot to get pictures of it. I'll get some tomorrow if I have time to work on it. I did get the fuel filler mount done though so here is a few pictures of it.

Decided that some minor body mods were in need to make the car more my liking. Started by smoothing the body recess that's mostly hidden by the bumper. Waiting on a new bumper to show up to recess the bumper ends and make it fit a bit tighter to the body. Then the seems will be filled.

Needs 1/4" filled around the top and 3/8" filled on each side to get it at 1/4" gap all the way around for a more modern weather strip figment. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_51.jpeg Hopefully more on this tomorrow evening. |
I didn't get as much done with the windshield as I wanted to, but the hardest part is fitted.
Sides tacked in. Bottom left long until I get my fenders so I can finish fitment. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_55.jpeg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_56.jpeg I forgot to get a picture of the driver side upper corner, but here is the passenger side tacked in. It doesn't look kill it because I moved the glass over after I tacked it. It's 1/4" all the way around. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_57.jpeg |
Looks great.
Make sure you buy a 2nd windshield as verify the fitment with the 2nd windshield. Just in case you damage the 1st glass. They all never seem to be the same. Marty-MJ |
So I've been working on the front glass still as I only get an hour or so a day to work on it. Things were going pretty good until my mig gun gave up the ghost yesterday and the new one won't be here till Monday.
So here is where I'm at. The whole outer frame is welded in and took forever as to not warp the metal. Here it is partially welded. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_64.jpeg All ground down http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_63.jpeg The new lip is started and welded on the driver side http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_61.jpeg The side ground down and the top in progress. This is when the mig gun gave up on me. This is three pieces in order to make the bend in the corner. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_60.jpeg Since I could weld I fitted the remainder of the lip so it's ready to weld in. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_59.jpeg To wrap things up my Ring Brothers door handles and trunk hinges showed up Monday. My carbon fiber parts from Anvil will hopefully be here this week too. It was shipped Friday after 11 months of waiting. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_65.jpeg |
I forgot, since I'm sans welder I started on the recesses to mount my Infinity boxes

So for the glass you filled in the side and top gap - did you add anything to the bed where the windshield sits ? How much depth is on those edges ? In other words if you lay the windshield down on the opening, how recessed is the glass from the edges in the "vertical" direction - ie how much padding will go under the glass where you glue it and if you do need any spacing there how will that be accomplished ?
although I don't know why I ask, I'm way past the point where I would ever be motivated to put in flush glass, I'm just curious ! |

I got lots done yesterday now that my new mig gun showed up.
I finished welding and grinding the window frame http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_70.jpeg Then I got the driver A pillar weatherstrip filler tacked then fully welded and ground smooth (smoothed out not pictured) http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_71.jpeg I plan on recessing my Infinity Box modules, so I started building boxes for the modules http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_68.jpeg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_69.jpeg My Anvil fenders will be here tomorrow, so I went ahead and assembled the car lol http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8.../image_72.jpeg |
