I was thinking about that, and even though I am tight on space I'm going to look into it. I appreciate the input. Worst come to worse I could always sacrifice a little lift.
Any pics of such setups? To get my thoughts flowing... |
What a build Nick, great stuff
You will love those Titaniums, they are downright amazing in action. |
Speaking of Porterbuilt...
|
Raised it up a little bit more, and got rid of the grommet holes, I forgot that I didn't need them any more.

holy crap an update!
well after a little over a month I took Sunday off to relax and work on my truck, didn't get TOO much done, but back on track. Tubbed the otherside of the firewall, raised the factory tub of course http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809011.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809013.jpg Clearance http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809009.jpg Full lock at 2" ride height, not that it matters since I wouldn't be able to turn that much with fenders, but just goes to show I made them wide enough to allow adequate turning http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809006.jpg Started on the fenders, bought two brand new OEM fenders, and proceeded to drill the spot welds out and start cutting. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809014.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809015.jpg Test fit and marked for height http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809017.jpg Cut and now to the special part, ordered two pre-99 inner fenders, going to try to make them work. They taper to quickly so they sit pretty high here, but I'm going to try to modify them. I actually have them installed opposite also, drivers on passenger. Worked better that way. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809018.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...s101809019.jpg |
Very cool Nick.
Keep it up. She's gonna be a beast! |

here is a above picture https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cZJXAgbISE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EyTyml-6pk Let me know what you guys think, I agree to what people keep saying they look big, but I think it's mainly because the motor is so bare. Once the engine bay is filled out it should look a little better |
They don't look any bigger then the inner fenders in my little s10

So after some pondering, I think I'm going to nix the OBS inner fenders... not completely sure yet. So I decided I'd go back and finish my exhaust tips. Come to find out I forgot to take into account the taper of the roll pan when I jigged up the tips and made them square to the pan not level with the ground. However it's not terrible, and too drastic so I should be able to live with it. However I need to re cut the openings in the roll pan, for now here are a few pics of them mocked up.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../110709003.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../110709004.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../110709005.jpg Here you can see the rear tip compared to the front bumper duct http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../110709006.jpg |
Good to see you working on that bad boy again Nick.
|
Dam that looks good... :wow:

Not much of an update, but figured I'd share. Found a water jet company 2 miles from my home so this is going to help this and future builds tremendously. I have about $170 worth of brackets being cut and will help get me to the next stage of my build... picking them up tomorrow stayed tuned for that.
As far as, have I been working on it? Well yes, but not much to take pictures, however I did finish up the exhaust tip openings, made them bigger and more symmetrical. All metal finished up. As far as the tips I decided on painting them, as well as the front bumper ducts with a chrome paint. This will allow me to do some needed bodywork, the back plate of the tip will be black to help hide the exhaust tubing opening. Stay tuned, I have one more week off from school and with work slow I may have a few "days off" so I can get some good progress. As far as the rollpan, here are some pictures before I weld it in for good. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...1052010003.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...1052010007.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...1052010010.jpg |
Hi Nick you must have ESP I was just thinking of your build. It looks good. Remember any progress is good..
|
Lookin good GMracer.Thats goin be sweet when u get tru. :hail:
|
Looking good. You'll love the shockwaves, I main regret with my truck was selling them and switching to slams.
|
AWESOME NICK!!! Glad things are moving along for you.
That is going to be one sick ass truck my man. I want to check it out sometime. Keep us posted. |
yeah, finding a local water jet can be a near life-changing event :D Cool build.
|
Good job! Those exhaust tips are really trick looking. Did you consider making them from stainless? Would save you from having to paint them.
Is there a specific reason you used so much 3/16" sheet on the frame? Seems you could have easily saved a boatload of weight (without compromising strength) by going with thinner material. Did you do any analysis on the kinematics of the suspension or is it mostly from the hip? |

And I used 3/16" cause that was what I felt suit, I didn't do much strength analysis, but being my first chassis I sure learned a lot. |
Looking good keep up the great work.

Nick, I'd like to thank you!! After going over this entire thread a few times and being floored by what you've done, I've decided to put my Ranger back to daily driver status and I've started looking for a rcsb 88-98 Chevy to build. Haven't owned a Chevy in almost 10 years, now I can't wait to have another!
|
Good idea, who wants a ranger anyway?! haha, just kidding.... but thanks for the kind words.
|
I think it'd be way too expensive to try to make them, a LOT of work went into them,
Update time: So this water jet thing freakin' rocks! So nice to design them in CAD and have them 1-2 days later. Couple brackets I had cut, were the cage plates, explained in the video http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../011110001.jpg Swaybar Plates to weld to the bottom side of the frame to hold the muscle bar http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../011110002.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../011110003.jpg New rear lower bag plates http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../011110004.jpg Lower Shockwave Mount http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../011110005.jpg |
