Sorry Pete, for not having your back!! I was out of town for a couple days and missed all of this!

Guys, Pete is a Pro and doesn't deserve any questioning! I shipped the car from coast to coast (litterly!) because I completely trust him to do the car. As he said, everything that needs to be done will be done to make the car right this time and that's good enough for me.

I know that a lot of people would just want to strip the car and start fresh...but to be honest so far we don't feel that that's needed. If Chris did anything right it probably was the body work. That was in the beginning of course when his heart was still fully in the project.

The car will be blocked like a mother to get a lot of the excess material off the car and that will of course straighten it even more. And the pics you are seeing this week is just the begining of that.

So lets let Pete and his guys do what's needed and enjoy the pics, repairs, and transformation of the build!

Pete, again I am so sorry that you felt questioned, you certainly don't deserve that!!

So we all good now? Go team!! :lateral:

comp-spec 10-12-2008 05:16 PM

Thanks,
Listen guys it's all good
Alright, this is the week we start our repairs. So there should be lots to see and talk about. Once we get into it we'll see how deep we have to go.
We're pretty psyched to get going. This will be an interesting week.
When my guys are into it they can rock pretty good

That's pretty awesome.

mike3283 10-13-2008 08:36 PM

I just wanted to put in a good word for Pete.

While I have never met him, he painted my bosses 67 Shelby Mustang look-alike Outlaw 10.5 drag car and it looks amazing. My boss, Jason, has nothing but good things to say about him and his work. Definitely a job very well done.

I am sure the car will look awesome when it is done.

I am just laughing at the fact that this painter's treachery is about to become public knowledge in a major publication soon. You can't buy revenge any sweeter than that. LOL!!!

Anthony I love the rendering. There is just something about silver '68 Camaros with black SS stripes that I love. Not sure why that is. :D

Hey if it should ever happen that we have our cars at an event together I want a picture of the two side-by-side. Two Anthony's with their silver and black '68 Camaros. Good luck with the rest of the build my friend. :captain:

conekiller13 10-14-2008 10:29 AM

It's not silver................it's Silverstone gray metallic:drool:

Mario,

That's very cool of you to donate the materials... does your shop specialize in collision, or do you take on other projects as well?

Pete,

Good luck as the adventure begins! The car is in great hands and we look forward to seeing it evolve!

I almost didn't go with that stripe but changed my mind at the last minute. I had purchased the stencel from Classic Industries with the intention of using it but told the guy to leave it off when I saw the car all in silver. Later that night I kept thinking that I might get bored with the car being only one color and regret that I didn't have that stripe on there. I called him the next day and told him to go ahead and put it on. I am so glad I did. I just think silver is one of those colors that "needs something" to break it up. Black and silver...how can you go wrong? Yours appears to be a shade darker than mine. Mine is 'Machine Silver Metallic' off the 2006 Corvette.

Should be sweet Anthony. Can't wait to see it.

What method do you use to strip the nooks and crannies of the door like that? Stripper? Media blast? Tiny little fingers with sandpaper?

Chuck was here today shooting pics of the repair areas for the Mag article. I figured I'd post some pics of whats going on....We did some repair areas for chuck and put some areas in primer. We'll finish repairing and periming the areas, then next week Chuck will come back and get some shots of re-seam sealing , and spraying some color around the hinge areas to re-assemble for final line up and block sanding. Then he'll be back after that to shoot the color going on the car.
