|
Bad azz... glad it's back on track! |
|
These guys work fast. Already aligned the entire front end and installed the hood. Usually takes me a few days to get gaps that good. http://i26.tinypic.com/w8kymg.jpg http://i28.tinypic.com/2hxwxn8.jpg That's all for today. Tyler |

Those tube ends behind the facia look like a good basis for a vehicular artillery option |
|
So what is the plan for the engine and drivetrain? |
|
Will the rockers be extended to match the airdam? |

Really like the header panel placement. When the fenders get pie cut and reshaped to match, look out. It might be back just a bit far. The engine will be in the front seat! The project will have to be renamed 40/60! That will be one slick MOFO!:hail: Glad to see it back underway. Keep us posted! |

Here is a pic I have of the rocker molding mocked up to give you an idea of what we have in store. I might put the wheels on it and see how it fits next week since all the major stuff is landed. I have a few things to get in order first on the car. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...hoppics005.jpg |

 That is looking sweet!! |

Update for the weekend: Floors are coming along very nicely. http://i28.tinypic.com/fs3t0.jpg http://i27.tinypic.com/2jfix4j.jpg Wheel test fit: Inside drivers front: http://i32.tinypic.com/2d9xr2c.jpg Front view; looks like I'll be doing a wide body front and rear 68 body now: http://i28.tinypic.com/30a8ia0.jpg Drivers side shot at ride height: http://i25.tinypic.com/utsee.jpg Can't wait to see the 3/4 shot with both front and rear wheels, even if they stick out past the sheetmetal. Have a good weekend boys. Tyler |

the car is going to be killer for sure.something about that front air dam that just looks to ricey for my taste.no disrespect intended ,just imagine if everyone liked everythin g the same it would be a boring world.same with the side skirts.the way the chassis is built it just seems like the exterior should be brought up a few notches to match the awsum skeleton underneath.good luck i cant wait to see it painted. |

Awesome! I love seeing this car come together! I've been following it since back on CamaroZ28.com! Thanks for updating us on the progress!! |

So I was gone most of August and half of September in Europe; London, Amsterdam, Prague, Paris, and Rome. Rodger did get a few things rolling when they had time. They did the front A pillar down tubes of the cage, mounted the Tilton pedals, fab'd new engine mounts to set the engine back for use of my Sidewinder accessory drive, re-made the torque tube, and re-installed the drivetrain. I only have a few pics, and they don't show much, but an update is an update. Checking HRE wheel clearance. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...uly2010001.jpg New laser cut engine mounts http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2010038.jpg Same thing, different angle http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2010039.jpg Engine setback is now very much into the firewall, and at least 2 inches behind the front axle centerline http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2010028.jpg Torque tube all installed http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2010029.jpg Tyler |
|
very cool - it's nice to see progress on it- floor looks trick |
|
How much is the engine recessed back in the firewall? Also how much clearance is there between the outside of the torque tube and the inside of the tunnel? Im doing the same thing in my 68 and havent decide on how much clearance I was going to give. |
|
Very nice. That is a great build. |

Rodger uploaded a few more pictures that are current. Pretty A pillar tubes. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010060.jpg Engine is set back very deep into the firewall at this point; I'm guessing 7-8 inches but it's hard to tell with the new fisheye lens my boy picked up. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010061.jpg Sweet. Tilton pedals are mounted. Now I need to get off my ass an choose a Sparco seat, get a steering column, and wheel to get me all set up. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010062.jpg A pillar bars again. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010063.jpg Tyler |
|
Did you notice the "Rolled" A pillar crossbar? Oh Yeah boy... |

 I did - - - - -- - - That's a nice touch. It's also something that your average fab shop, probably can't easily do......... You "show-off" :unibrow: |

What seat do you guys think for a street/track car? I'd like a Sparco. Here are the 3 I was looking at: Sparco Circuit seat for $870 each http://assets0.saferacer.com/images/P/00892F_1_lg.jpg Sparco Pro ADV for $850 each http://assets0.saferacer.com/images/P/00867FAZ_1_lg.jpg Or the Sparco Corsa for $730 each. http://assets0.saferacer.com/images/P/00887F_1_lg.jpg The first two will limit my blind spot viewing on the street but are HANS compatiable and would offer the best protection for me, where as the Corsa would be great for street visibility, but not as safe in a racing environment. Have any of you guys used any of these in a street/track car? Tyler |

Please verify: You are using an aluminum Corvette front crossmember, and that the engine placement is correct relative to the cross member. --Eric |
|
The engine is 3.5" back from stock. The torque tube is stock length and there is room to run Tyler's Sidewinder system on the front of the engine now. We plan to relocate the firewall back. |

Factory cradles, yes. Engine placement is further rearward than factory. Those laser cut mounts shown moved it 2 inches further back (maybe more) to allow for my Sidewinder accessory drive and so I could use a factory length torque tube. Tyler |

Rodger & Tyler, Thanks for the response. --Eric |

I'm not sure why it would be an issue. I would think it would make the cage stronger. Now if it was the opposite direction I could see that being and issue. I'm open if you know something I don't know. They have radius cages in alot of offroad sanctioning bodies so it must not be an issue there. |
