Update.... Part way throug our drive to san diego from vegas. Average speed of 75-80 and average fuel consumption is about 18 miles per gallon!! Pretty happy bout that. Vegas69's home alignment is great!!

We made it!!
Only one problem we had..... we got jammed up in traffic for quite some time... then it started going up a 5 mile hill. Stop and go was starting to kill my calf.. but no big deal. 1/4 way up the hill.. i started smelling clutch. (you have to realize that it was clutch in clutch out for 10 miles.. then 2 miles up the hill... just slippin it for miles)... Then shortly after the smell... i saw some smoke coming from the car. Imediatly pulled over and shut her down. Well... after letting the clutch cool for a bit.. it would not disengage. Everything must have gotten to hot and expanded. We had to sit there for an hour... then put the car in reverse... and cranked it a few times. Finally it broke loose. Just as that happened.. a highway patrol pulled up and blocked all the lanes so we could whip accross traffic and hit the exit for a well needed Pizza hut stop. lol. He didn't even mention the no plate... or the brake light that was out. (who says you need a damn plate!!) Then once back on the road.. she cruised down the 15 running 85mph in 6th at 1900 rpms flawlessly. Still need to fix the axle seal... its not as bad as it was... but its still drippin back there. Other than that... thing seem real good. Never got hotter than 190's.. even sitting in that damn traffic. Im pretty happy about that.:captain: |

i had a pretty good feeling the car would make it there fine... driving a fresh car esp. with twins that far is a pretty good feat if you ask me! |

This is a second gear hit. She is tuning in real nice. This was 8 lbs of boost, roughly 700hp at the tires. She is sitting in traffic... puttin around town.... and surprisingly hooking real nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYZidDudqnQ |
Sweet!!!
Glad you're getting the bugs worked out!  |

I did have to modify my control arms... on hard turns the lower control arms were digging into the rotors. Strange because the exact set up was used prior with no issues. Only thing that was changed was we added drop spindles. Other than that... i really enjoy driving the camaro. |
Josh,
Don't let the little things get to you... You do have to be builder, engineer, tuner, driver... These cars are "projects" and take lots of tweaking. If you look at it as a learning experience - and an experience it is... then it's fun. Anybody can buy a Porsche... :hail:  I'll also bet that NOBODY comes to talk to you when you fill up the "regular" cars... and you're having a parade every time you take the Camaro out. EEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA |
The pictures are awesome. I love that rear quarter shot.
|
I love the tinkering part. Lol.
And it is crazy when I stop for gas. I can get caught up for 30 minutes chatting with random people. It's kinda strange on the highway. People almost wreck snapping pics. They have almost rear ended cars in front of them. Crazy for sure. Even mini vans rev at me at red lights. Pretty funny. Cool part is every one is so friendly about it. In the hopped up Porsche you can get bad looks and hated on. Every one seems to love the muscle. Lol. |

I welcome your car to Cali! I actually was leaving my house yesterday in Carlsbad when you pulled up next to me near the airport. Your car looks AWESOME and sounds great!!! The attention to detail is OUTSTANDING! I was tempted to run home and grab my 68' Camaro and realized I don't have it back from my motor swap yet. I am about a year behind you in my restoration. This is my third restoration I am completing on this car. I keep wanting to change things up! Let me know if you plan on taking it to any local shows or cruises. After checking out your gunmetal and black stripes; I may have to reconsider my 2002 Corvette blue and white stripes that I currently have  |

What car were you in? I have been on Palomar airport rd. and El Camino every day. DC shoes is right off Palomar. Sad news is the car is getting loaded and shipped back home tomorrow. I want to get it back and put in a front sub frame over the winter. After logging at least 1k in miles.... and based on the ride i got in Vegas in Vegas69's car.... AND with the driving habits that i have... i want the front sub frame. I'll probably go with a Speed Tech frame so i don't have to change my wheels. Thanks again for the compliments. Im glad you got to see her in the streets!! |

Oh no, back to MI? I am sure your car likes the year around driving weather out here! Too bad I won't see you cruising around here anymore :( I am trying to finish my car up to have it 100% ready for the Hot August Nights car show. That is still THE best place I have gone to show off your ride. It usually attracts around 150,000 spectators and enthusiasts. A new front end complete with rack and pinion and coil overs and sub frame connectors are on my agenda also. I haven't nailed down which way I will go yet. I have an automatic right now with a B&M Pro Stick but I may switch over to a 6 speed for the fun driving factor. |
Well this video made my day!!
http://www.webridestv.com/videos/top...ow-2009-210728 very cool indeed. Also.. the car was loaded and headed back to michigan today. However.. we got some unbelievable video.
