Looking good Chris.
|
I started assembling the subframe today, so I should have it all back together next week sometime. I ordered new inner and outer tie rods and an idler arm assembly that should all be here early to mid next week. Pictures to follow the completed assembly.

Everything looks great Chris. What is your goal for a finish date?

Who knows it could happen sooner, but as a single income family, it's a slow process because of the money. |
I couldn't stand it today, so I assembled the subframe complete less the tie rods, idler arm assembly, and brakes. Here's some photos with the Forgelines on.

After 2-1/2 years of being on a body jig and jack stands, she finally hit the ground tonight. Got the G-Link in (minus the sway bar) and everything bolted up. Shocks are not adjusted yet, but it looks like I have about 2-1/4" left in it. I also need to square everything up, but it's pretty close where it's at now. My camera died after 4 pictures, so I'll post more later.

I'm almost to the point where mine is going to be on 4 wheels too. Looking at yours makes me want to go home and put it together tonight:willy: |

With all of the cutting and metal replacement I did on this car, I was nervous about it sitting crooked or something not being just right, but after looking it over last night it appears to be spot on (at least to the naked eye). I'm in Zachary which is just north of Baton Rouge. I'm about an hour and a half west of Mandeville. |
Nice work Chris, let me know how you are going to get that rear stance dropped down.
|
I know where that is
I spent some time in Gonzales and use to hunt in St Francisville.
Glad you finally got it back on the ground |
Looks great my friend!! That right there is payoff of lots of hard work!! I'm wired and it's not even my car!!

1. The lower control arm bracket has 6 holes in which you can move the lower shock mount to. I actually moved them to lowest setting this evening. Each hole is 5/8" apart. That made a HUGE difference. 2. I still have 1-1/2" of adjustment left in the springs. They're at full length right now. Plus, there's no weight in it right now. It's just a shell. Chassisworks recommends a shock length of 13"-14" in their installation instructions. I'm at 14-1/2" overall length right now. Do you plan on ordering a G-Link? |
|
That looks sweet, are you planning to run tailpipes?
|
Love this view!

Chris I'm pretty sure the Magnaflow kit does dump behind the tire.

It's been 5-1/2 months with no progress until today. I finally got the car on the rotisserie and plan to start on the underside this week sometime.

Wow Chris , I haven't been over here in a while , thought about your build and thought I would check up on it ! I find your 1st post in 5 1/2 months about getting back on the car ! Maybe it's an omen , maybe a sign that the time is right to do something else on my project ! .......................... If I could just get everybody else's junk outta my shop !
|
This has been a loooooong time coming! congrats buddy!
What are your plans for the bottom finish? Paint or a coating of some sort? I would lean towards paint since it's all brand new metal, be a shame to cover it all up! :woot: |
Chris the car looks awesome.Been awhile since we chatted and man have you got progress my man!!!! We are pretty much at the same stage.I know how you feel being nervous and all cause I feel the same way hoping it all comes together the way we planned.Congrats on the progress and keep it going the finish line is in sight.

Very cool Chris. Glad to see you back on the Camaro.
Keep us posted. |
The reason for the delay in working on the Camaro is because in July, I bought 5 acres north of where I live now and have been drawing house plans for a new house. So, unfortunately the car had to take a back seat for a while. The property I bought has a 40x60 steel building on it, so I've also been laying out plans on how to arrange the new shop.
Once I get the underside of the car finished, I can move the car to it's new home. Here's pictures of the new shop. http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4005_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4004_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4006_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4007_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4008_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4003_large.jpg |
Ready for primer and paint.

Chris, the car is coming along nicely  and congrats on the new place and shop.
|
congrats on the progress Chris! I think the coolest thing is all that new sheet metal! And you replaced it all yourself! Job well done my friend!!
|
Chris, amazing how far you have come, hope all is well with you and the family. Happy Thanksgiving! Greg
|
Very nice Chris. Your work area looks very nice as well. Nice and roomy.
|
Nice progress, and a sweet shop.
|
Thanks, guys. I can't wait to get settled into my new shop. The underside is in primer and I'm waiting for it to cure so that I can go seam seal and start spraying the black. Pictures to follow when I have the black on it.
|
