Congrats on an outstanding build! This is the car GM should have built. Great mixing of old and new, looks like a A GM concept car. The fit and finish is a work of art.

I was at Lakeside Rods today and saw the "new" car under construction and the renderings by Eric Brockmeyer. This car is sick!! It has some of the nicest design elements to it I've ever seen. Can't wait to see it on the road and slicing through the cones at the autocross. Hey Karen...keep us posted on the build. |
I was able to see Scar in persom this weekend at KCgoodguy's.WOW!! really a nice car.The work on the hood was awesome.Rodger and the folk's a Lakeside Rod's did a great job. Scott.

I walked past this car at least a dozen times at Car Craft, and it wasn't until seeing pics later that I realized it wasn't just another 2010 Camaro.

SCAR: Goodguys Mid-Western Nationals, Kansas Speedway
Had an opportunity to photograph SCAR at Goodguys Mid-Western Nationals at the Kansas Speedway and thought I would post a couple of pics for other SCAR fans lurking here.:willy:

Yeah it's def one of those cars you keep looking at to find out what they did. Really well done. I could easily see it being passed by as another 2010 if you were walking by it!
|
Really Nice Job!
|
I'm going to suspend any further comments until I see it at Sema. You running the Optima Challenge?
|
Can't get enough of this car.....:lateral:
|
Killer car. I was skeptical of the tail lights at first, as I hate them on the 2010's, but they look great on this car.
|
Can we see the rendering to the 70 Camaro your having built now ty

Here is a video of Karen Leisinger in SCAR running the Autocross @ Goodguys Mid-Western Nationals, Kansas Speedway. I think the chance of seeing SCAR in person at SEMA is worth the price of admission!

It's been a long time since we posted. We've been really busy. The 71 Camaro, the "ProfeSSor" is coming along quite well. We will be starting a new thread soon. The 70 Camaro "Crusher" is also going quite well. We want to thank Nick and the Camaro Performers team for the great Columbus coverage in the November issue! The write up and coverage of "Scar" was fantastic! "Scar" will be in SEMA at the HRIA booth. Time is very limited for us in the construction industry so between SEMA and the Scottsdale Good Guys show we are maxed. Hope to meet some of you at SEMA.

I think this is an awesome build with amazing detail. There is only one negative thing I have to say on it though........it's an automatic.........but then I don't get to drive it so that really doesn't matter.
|
Maybe i missed it or i'm blind but did anybody ever say what those seats are out of? Those look good!

If anyone is looking for more info on the Leisinger (scar) Camaro you can check out the latest edition of (December) Camaro Performers page 66. There you will find an excellent feature written by Editor Nick Licata outlining all the build details.

I read that article the other day. It said corbeau but I didnt see them on the web site. Thought it may have been a misprint.

At first I didn't really liked it, but now it's kinda growing on me, the craftsmanship is awesome, the detailing level is awesome, the result looks nice, what I can't deny is that is totally different, so for me it's ok, I might like it better later. So far looks nice, me likes.

Thanks for the answer guys and gals. Much appreciated.

Billetman, has the build for the '70 Camaro started yet? I remember you stating that the builder for SCAR, (I forget the name), was also doing a '70 Camaro. That should be a killer car as well. I would love to see pictures of the build, if they have any.

This is how I see it and I will try to post it so maybe the owner, builder & vendors can see where I am going. Let me use Scar as an example. First off let me see the car is over the top. However it has come and gone and in a few months no one will remember the car, the builder or the owner. Why, because of the lack of promotion and Hype (hello, just look at Apple and there product sucks). We live in a world where it's all about shameless self promotion and Hype. Something "Scar" never had. If you ask 10 people at Columbus or even Sema who built the car, who owns the car, who did the interior, what engine, what suspension, what wheels, bla bla bla - get my point. I am willing to bet most of the questions couldn't be answered. Why – No promotion. After the cars debut we get a little teaser picture in a magazine promoting vintage air, wheel manufacture or one of it’s other sponsors. But I assure you that doesn't get much business for the vendor. We live in a world where shameless self promotion is what is needed. Once again look at Apple there Marketing is the sells there product. There are builders on this site that get it, Best of Show, JCG Restoration, Ironwork, Fesler & finally the Ring Brothers. These guys promote there projects, parts and what they can do and guess what people spend money with these guys and there vendors. Why because people see there projects, remember there projects and the parts they use. If your goal is to swoop and like and Eagle and disappear then wait till a few weeks before the debut and post some pictures we will all look at the car fall in love and move on just like we did with “Scar”. If you goal is to promote the car and have people remember the car, parts and all of the people involved then it's time to re-evaluate the reason why we have BB forum's or even websites promoting shops. Perfect Example - Look at the Chicayne, G-Force Cuda and Reactor. People remember these cars and always will. |

Well said Marty. I would agree with about 90 percent of what you said. Shameless self promotion definitely brings in customers to shops. There are builders on here who have gained a bunch of customers without ever finishing a car, let alone one that is of the caliber of Scar.
It doesn't really seem to me that Karen is on here to advertise for Roger Burman of Lakeside Rods, but rather to share the build with our little community due to a genuine love of all things Camaro. Still, it's not entirely clear. This build thread is a bit of a tease, and here is where I really start to agree with what you're saying Marty. I can understand keeping things secretive if a person is building a car over the course of several years or more, during which time their ideas could be stolen, but with a no expense spared car, built on a timeframe that is as quick as a shop can work, keeping things secretive doesn't appear to me to be as important. Now, it seems to me like Scar has gotten its fair share of press and ink. Seems every magazine I open has the car in it, and rightfully so, because it is an extraordinarily well built car. On the other hand, cars like mine, Josh's, and Todd's "Payback" (probably being the best example of what I'm trying to get at) are probably well known on this site, yet I doubt they are really known outside of the little pro-touring circle. So, while names like "Payback," "Karma" and "Motiv8or" which instantly spring to my mind, will forever be held up around these sites, "Scar" is out receiving its fifteen minutes of fame on a national level, and I think, by default, is bound to reach a much broader audience. I'm sure it will be forgotten, but most of our cars will never be known on a comparable level to begin with. So, I guess at the end of my little post, what I'd like to know is pretty what Marty was curious about, are you (Karen) on here to promote, or rather to share for the sake of sharing? Matt |
Geez...Is this still a hobby? Just checking.
Why does Karen owe anyone an explanation? Does everyone who contracts to have a car built, need to issue some kind disclaimer, whenever he/she mentions the builder? Compared to past SMOTY winners, I don't even see where she has promoted the car all that much, or even that she posts very much on Lat-G... |
I don't think she owes us an explanation, and it doesn't really matter, but I kind of would like to know.
I think I understand a bit about what Marty was getting at, and I think his message was a bit more genuine and friendly than it might have seemed. For me, it seemed like he was trying to be helpful. I mean, I don't think there is any problem with promoting a car, sharing, etc. He was just offering advice depending on her intentions. Matt |

Exactly it is just a hobby. Be glad they feel apart of our community enough to post somethings. Lots of really nice cars get built and never taken to a show. This hobby is about the cars not how much you can stroke you ego. Sure if Roger wanted to publicise his work more he could be he seems to be pretty busy building cars. |
