Update Time! Well.....things have taken longer than expected, but that's about to change. After 19 months of storage, Johns car is ready to head out.
Won't lie....it might have gotten tagged with some spray paint a few times by the neighborhood vandal. AKA Me. :mock: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-zMPjzpr-L.jpg At one point I tried to convince John to add T-Tops to the car. He didn't bite, but I am hopeful he hasn't taken the suggestion off the table. No one's doing it and it would be a first in the PT community. :sieg: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...VKhh4f5-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-wZzP42N-L.jpg To get the car prepped for transport, I had to pull the engine and transmission. Pretty easy to yank. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-v9bvZbh-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-LvwKx5P-L.jpg Thankfully these cars don't weigh much empty and I was able to roll it down the driveway, alone, without any issues and position it to be loaded into the trailer I recently bought. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-g2MpDCw-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-Lvft9ZZ-L.jpg With the aid of the race ramps and a small wench, the car went in effortlessly. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...HcVSm5X-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-6VFKw6k-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-gz5v5wQ-L.jpg If everything goes right  I'll head out to drop it off and pick mine up next weekend. I'm sure Mr Wizard will have some fun with it. :stirthepot: :captain: |
I am happy to report that Johns car arrived safely at Jims and should begin the transformation process in about a week or so. Pretty stoked to see how things progress.

I am looking forward to seeing what you and Jim do. :flag2: |
I almost forgot I own a Camaro! Thanks for all the help Curtis! I talked with Jim he's going to take a few days to relax after getting Curtis' car out. Then he'll start work on mine. Should be fun!

Things are happening!
Well we've been busy around here between the new house, outfitting my new shop, and oh yea I got married, somewhere along the line Curtis hauled my car up to Jim in Stockton. Jim knew I was slammed with work and the wedding so he was holding out on me (as if I wouldn't want an update on my Camaro!!!) he's started in the rear of the car, and is moving his way forward.
He's been working on the tailpan, and the decklid trying to get the gaps right. From what I've gathered Jim is not a huge fan of the panels I selected. I'll leave that out the quotes as I don't want to be booted from the forum. I'll shut up now https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-kXTgnVS-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-5r6rMkP-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-czLmgfs-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-DWn7rmr-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-47hVn4T-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-VHZhFvR-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-NzT42tf-L.jpg he ended up welding the seam up completely because the metal is so thin. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-JH9RRPj-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-fc7r48g-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-R4ZsBc5-L.jpg |
Yeah Jim bad mouths Taiwan...a lot! Rightfully so. Glad to see that it's getting some TLC finally. Keep the updates coming!!
 |

Is it T-Tops?????? :popcorn2: Hahaha. |
Sweet! I love seeing these pictures, good work going on!

So when Johns car was shipped to my house it had the engine and trans in it which I had to pull before hauling it to Mr. Wizards place. Getting those and the wheels back across the country was going to be awhile. Thanks to Mills who was out here racing OPTIMA, it's all back where it should be. Mills was happy to drag it home, but I had to take it all to the track so we could load it into the trailer. With everything loaded there wasn't any room for the engine hoist, so we had to get creative. It was a tight fit, but once I had backed into the trailer four of us lifted the engine out without issue.

I know what you are all thinking, this project died again.
NOPE Jim has been crushing it, He is almost finished with metal work. I keep throwing a wrench in the spokes and adding work. Added in a full roll cage with custom door bars, we are waiting on the delivery of the Anvil Lower Valance, and I need to find a company I want to use for Flush mount Glass so we can fit that. I've seen Feslers stuff and heard of a few other people who I have reached out to. Hopefully I get some word back soon. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pslzudsoh6.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psenm40twh.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psnijbvdeh.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscff5germ.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszel3ujon.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pssdmdebat.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxi0aet1u.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswlbmdfx7.jpg |

Starting to really take shape now. Lot of work to get everything to fit on that car. Amazing to see the gaps all straight and clean knowing how bad they where. Car is gonna be DOPE!

Here’s a little progress, nothing crazy Jim is just full welding the floor.

John, the car is looking great.

More new panels,
Jim was putting the front end together apparently the hood and header were shot. The car must have taken a hit before I owned it and tweaked the hood beyond repair, regardless more panels have arrived! Progress Continues! http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswdogypy4.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psn4dlaibr.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pskdfbtjzm.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxsnpvqxe.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psiauaf5am.jpg |
It looks like they're fitting up nicely.

What great progress you have been making! I really like the attention to detail.
I’m wrapping up a frame off build of my own and can appreciate the time taken to not only work on the car but keep us updated on the progress. |

Speaking of crushing it. Jim had to weld the front of the doors, and add some material to the back side of the fenders. ON WITH THE PICTURES! http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1xffwnmd.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psrquw1rvc.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pss3myptew.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxioj1t0f.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psyjznt5ps.jpg |
Looks like the bulk of the metal work is finished. Now the fun begins!! Go Jim Go!!

It seems like I keep posting the same pictures!
Jim is getting that body line set, and about to move to the fender extensions. He's going to full weld the entension seam and make it all one piece for me. The Anvil lower valance is supposed to be in next week, maybe? They said 5 minutes 10 minutes ago. the reason everyone is really here....Pictures! http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psq2se7vqg.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswuqac1nc.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psm5kd4zxx.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps4zenulhg.jpg |
The car is really looking good. Love the body lines coming together.

Jim got a coat of primer on, looks like were about to do some blocking. Fender extensions are fully welded with the seams cleaned up. Making progress!
I picked up my Motor recently, if you are wondering a 2500 Dmax will fit in an enclosed trailer. On with the Pics! http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psu0wvddl9.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pslx688srb.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psovezxw4r.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psibmumoke.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psguevuedg.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psktz0qnlo.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psyyeltkti.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psryaysxdq.jpg |

Jim is still at it!
Jim got the first layer of black primer on and I believe went on a camping trip so this is my fix for the next week.
On a completely separate note, We had our first child last week! Abigail and Momma are both healthy and doing well. Can't wait to teach her to work on cars in a few years. On with the Car pics! http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psofagihie.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psamnufwa8.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psk5izr5r7.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdxxvofii.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psge7osr0q.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pssyuhzvif.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszypftb9g.jpg |
Congrats on ALL THE BIG EVENTS John!!
Kids are great..... I will warn you --- if you think they'll automatically like what you do (cars).... well I hope that works out for you! My son LOVES cars - as long as they're will in excess of $300,000 but doesn't know a nut from a bolt.... My daughter would spend all day in the boat engine room or in the shop - didn't matter. LOL |
