What we need for last night - and todays weather is studded snow tires!
Yikes the weather turned to crap in a hurray! 22* high here today and last night - and a nice thin coat of ice under about 2" of dry powder.... The great Pacific NorthWET just isn't equipped for this kind of stuff! Thank gawd for the BBT (big bouncy truck)... it goes no matter what... and to stop it I just toss out a couple of grappling hooks. It's kinda like running a boat -- never approach anything faster than you're willing to hit it. :D |
only the high elavations got something today here in Portland.
But its cold here, said could get down to 17 tonight. |
Not digging the fact that snow is soon approaching us. We may get a coating late on Thursday night and very early Friday morning.:willy: :(

|
Thank you.... <bowing>
It should turn out to be a nice little sunny day ride. |

Uh......... Good question buddy! Except..... as usual <I have an answer for everything! <LOL> This little rod just might be the perfect cruiser for the vineyard/home we're looking to buy in the Sonoma area.
EEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |
Make sure it has a guest room for me when it gets cold here

How much power is it designed to handle? How much unsprung weight does it save by moving the Brakes inboard? What size are the brakes? I love 32's and you have a beauty. Ty |

I would imagine that you're saving 10 to 15 lbs per side of unsprung weight. The calipers and rotors are inboard but you have the extra suspension parts and control arm pivot points so it's not a pure negative moving the brakes in. Here's KUGELS answer to your "how much HP" question: It's all a function of power to weight to traction. You could have a 1,000 HP on an average street rod and the tires would break loose before anything else would break conversely. A heavier car with great traction and 400 HP will be much harder on the same rear end. Our ends use the proven 9" Ford gears. Heavy duty Corvette u-joints and castors weld steel half shafts. We just don't have any breakage problems. For extra heavy duty high HP we have custom 4-bar auto hub uprights. Here's a view of the front of this bad boy.... BTW the price of these is not for the faint of heart... You can buy a LOT of other parts for what these bring. Mine was just short of 15 grand - not installed..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...efrontview.jpg |

Some times it cost to look cool !
|
That is bad ass looking for sure.
15K?!:faint: |
I'm thinking a few more people might show some more "respect" when they see a hot rod with one of these rear ends in it now.... :unibrow:
Trust me -- until this 'project' -- I had no idea either! :wow: |
This is a link to the open house at SAR where the Roadster is.... Not one single pic of my poor little "woadster".... but gives those of you that are not from around "here" to see the shop.

Very nice. What a great looking shop. Clean and orderly.
I see they build all sorts of rides, but I'm guessing they are known for their "hot rod" expertise. Tons of rods there. Must be "the place to go". |
Tones --
The shop is full of top notch talent.... Funny thing -- my '32 was the "first hot rod" the shop ever built.... in 1994... and here it is back there getting a minor facelift. Steve's personal '34 Dodge pickup was a great 8 Riddler car this year.... |
Greg-- that shop is almost too clean. :_paranoid

The dodge truck belongs to a guy up in Canada it's not Steve's. |

Nah the guy in Canada atill owns it, it was up with the owner for a month or so after the riddler. It was at the open house cause, it came back down for a couple repairs.
if you look at the pick of the open house 4th pick from bottom the tan body is what Steve owns. |

Wow that looks great! You just might get me to go over to SAR now!!
|
Very nice. Very nice indeed.
I'm sure it's going to look killer underneath that car contrasting the chrome with the color of the car. |
Received the rear yesterday -- and today it's mocked up and ready for welding in....

All that green tape is gonna cost ya $$!! LOL
|
It's not the tape that cost! It's the dude that did the taping that I'm thinking about.... LOL
A little tape and a little labor.... 't'aint nuttin' honey compared to what that bad boy co$t.... Sure will look purtty twirling away back there! |

If it goes into April I'll be jumping someone's poo pile! At this point the rear - which took many weeks on order - is here.... the motor is ordered - the EFI is ordered and the paint sent to them.... I'm going to SAR this morning to discuss the tranny - and get that ordered up.... This is not one of SAR's Riddler builds... this is some tweaks and mods... a little paint a little carpet...:D |
I'm looking forward to seeing the unwrapping of the rear when the're done.
