Tx brett
Brown truck dropped these off. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psd957ef1c.jpg Got firewall done " again " minus a few holes. AC fits in perfect. Clutch bracket is set. Cut trans cross member a bit. Looking for a good entry location for engine harness and battery cable. Put it all back together to double check clearances.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps67c70553.jpg |
looks great Frank, time for some paint:gitrdun:

So I got a bunch of other stuff done . Centerforce aluminum flywheel and dual friction clutch is done , mastmotor sports oil pan is in , oil filter relocation unit from JCG ( tx Chris ) .filter& AN oil lines done , power steering lines ( tx XRP ).
AC and heater lines , ran and plug harness to make length adjustments , built a cool bracket and location for + power block. Built aluminum close out panel to match passenger side, it also holds AC dryer. Upgraded to carbon fiber SC shaft and smaller pulley, AC condensor is done , heat exchanger clerance position and mods done , building an expansion tank from an old AC dryer. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2de6298d.jpg Hope to get accurate oil pressure reading on this http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psbb6bd9aa.jpg Was able to squeeze this guy in there ( tight fit with headers ) http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps88845630.jpg Those two screws will get deleted. Got a miller spoolmate can't weld but can tack. Will send to a buddy for tig ( make it pretty ) http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps36529f6b.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psbd01f930.jpg Pile of hoses http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psa1e9226c.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8a876d34.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psbb730241.jpg Got these new inner fenders from Ron in SoCal ( tx ) http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6ff94143.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ba4ad75.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps51d77ffd.jpg And this is what happened to mast's oil pick up. It hit the oil pan in about 4 different points & flange @ oil ring would not sit flush. So it needed a half a day and some begging http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psc37608e9.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9268deb9.jpg As you can see it still needs a ton of organizing wires etc.... And will get rid some bling, radiator , condensor , heatexchanger , intake basically all aluminum pieces with get anodized, minus SC - would like to but it's to much work to gutt it out. |
nice work as always Frank:thumbsup:

Now I got to start saving for the wheels. besides paint and body I think that will my biggest purchase that needs to be done. I keep kicking my self for not buying Todd's ( Vegas69 ) wheels. DANG IT !!! |
This guy said " hide that awful bunch o wires
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps289afeab.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4b25b874.jpg Rough wiring will get it looking good for final. Built this cover to hide most of it. It will be anodized black on last stage , http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8de81063.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psfed7cf4e.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps78fc4057.jpg Got this guy done Sometimes a solution creates another problem such the case with CF shaft now it has no clearance for hose and clamp. Got to raise it about a 1/4" http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps869add2d.jpg |
How about one of the Gate's shrinking hose clamps?
|

Here is how I went about it. It got it cut, raised 1/4" , welded it and finally open up inside with a carbide tip Good idea on those clamps I'll be using them on all water lines. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1475d090.jpg |

Excellent work Frank.
Nice pic of your son. |
Still digging
Started to finalize all gaps , cut header panel to bring fenders closer to hood and tuck them real nice around grill headlight area. Could not get driver fender to fit half way decent , so I found out bottom corner had been patched and when welded it was tweaked like crazy, than found structure was rusty so I figure cut the whole thing of and start from scratch. Got Momo steering wheel bolted seat on make sure it was where I want to be and got Flaming river colum complete to the rack, had to reshape center of dash due to diameter difference from stock, made a close out panel where colum meets dash. Mirrors are in ( got that idea from DSE). Both doors are gapped , not final . Gap is less than 1/8" They open and fit perfect but I know with paint it will be an issue. For now. I just like that tight look. Hoping to finish trunk gaps but maybe replacing lid. Next I will start setting up glass all around , make sure it all plays well together. making space for power steering cooler, doing some electrical. Begin planning interior. Maybe moving roll bar a bit out of the way. All well a bunch of BS go come http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9d34c962.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...pse929ccc2.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psd6551416.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5fd782bb.jpg Found a can of that spray in one of those big shop's recycle bin http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2103c62d.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psb1b9cf55.jpg Got the block in there , ran wire inside ( right at kick panel area and to the trunk) http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8147bbb6.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9791468f.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ba4ad75.jpg |

A few more pictures of the front , coming along . Still got work to do where fender meets header panel ( slight buckle ).
Hood it's there I'm just debating on buying billet hinges or stocks to finalize gap. I have old stocks in there now and they pretty worn out. Header panel will get cut with thin dremel blade in between spot welds to get some good penetration. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps57176411.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps276af06a.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps43258468.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4b338367.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb64aa12.jpg |
Great work Frank, it's all these little details that make the difference in the end product!

That looks great Frank. That really make the front on these cars, tightening up all those gaps. Nice work !

Wow - too much custom - brain freeze
Really neat work on the car. Very impressive custom touches. Truly unique based on all the 69 threads that I've read so far. Was wonder on your accessory drive system - is that from a Cadillac CTS-V? Was impressed that you were able to keep the AC compressor mounted low and close to the block. Most other accessory drive's I've looked at (aftermarket ones) want to mount the AC compressor high. I think your system is better for PT activities. Also, I am in awe of the work on the headlamp doors to get them where you want them. Truth in where there's a will there's a way.
Looking forward to seeing the final result. Rod |

Accessory drive is mostly from 05 Cts-v . I changed alternator bracket ( 01 Camaro - modified )to keep at stock location and built compressor bracket ( using sd7 compressor ) from scratch to run from same belt. It was important to me in keeping all low and stock looking. It's not yet a proof set up, waiting to fire it up to see how that belt behaves . Especially on high rpm shifts. Those head lamp doors are a pain in the a// to make them fit. I had to reposition the two weld in nuts on core support. Played with it quite a bit |
Obd Ii
Was wondering where you decided to put the OBD II connector? Is there a "good" location for it? I've heard about issues with the doors and you've now confirmed it. But they do really dress up the front of the car. I think that in the end you are going to love it after all is said and done. And boy do I agree with you about lining up the drives to use a single belt. I had heard that the CTS-V had the best of the OEM arrangements. Good re-use of parts. I was either going with the CTS-V or a Drive Junky setup from MCB. Anxious to see the car when done. So keep up the good work. No rush as I think that quality is always better than speed. "You either want it done right or right now. You choose".

Slowed down a bit , new member in the family :)
But still getting some work done Brake lines are done was able to run one piece from proportioning valve to flex line for fronts. 3/16 SS. Any one looking to buy a flaring tool I will highly recommend the RIGID 458r for 45s and they also have a 37 degrees. That's the best tool I have bought and here benders same quality. Fuel plumbing is also checked off the list 3/8 SS. I ran both fuel and brake-lines on the inner side if rail "hope it don't get to hot"" maybe build a heat shield. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6dcf79e7.jpg Rear end passenger side piece http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps641e37d9.jpg Front passenger http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5198dad8.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psaac50b2d.jpg Followed the DSE weld http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps93ae9fe2.jpg [URL=http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/frankv11/media/Mobile%20Uploads/photo4_zps93ae9fe2.jpg.html] http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5e81cbb9.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psdc4b24a6.jpg Need just a bit if massaging here once I can get access to sett up clamps http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps136248ee.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps44bc5859.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psdd138cf0.jpg Founds these at LBC swapmeet $50 ohh yeah http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps67670137.jpg Cut rings to make them fit like I want them " tight" http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psc59ffe28.jpg http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4dc5dc9a.jpg Cut and flared out the buckets http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps96029c39.jpg Setting up clutch pedal with a stop and pushed pedal 1/4" towards passenger |
Congrats on the addition to the Family. I just had a baby girl 10 months ago and all I can say is my car was put on the back burner for some time but way worth it.

At the rate I'm going they will probably be finishing it for me. I missed your post on those deluxe panel items that was a steal. Just bought some OEM panels "$40" to remove chromes and handle pockets. Question can I use the stock rod that goes from latch to handle or is it deluxe specific. |
Congrats Frank! Good times ahead!
Car look amazing:thumbsup: |
