I'm ready!!
everything is good the new owner for the 69 just got here and he wants it done asap.

214Chevy 06-22-2011 10:30 PM

Ron, that baby is looking soooo sweet! I'm your #1 fan bro. Although you've heard it like 2 million times already…that color is killing something. I'm waiting on pics to showcase the paint after it gets cut and buffed.

killer67 06-22-2011 11:27 PM

Oh baby! That is coming along nicely! You deserve the perfect paint job with the patience of Mother Theresa you've had

There he is! What's up Killer? You've been so quiet lately I thought you were on vaca cruizen in your Escalade up to the Keys! ('Sippin on Gin and Juice' Haha)....I'll take any color at this point, as I'm just gonna 3m it bef it hits the streets. I have waited, not as long as others here, but I have not been patient - the shop's prob sick of hearing from me. I'm on the Greg Weld Shop Management program...

Oh, and post an update in your thread?

Your car is looking GREAT! I have seen that color in person on my very good friend Tonys car. It is a really classy looking paint. And looks fantastic on a first gen when applied correctly.

Thanks Guys! Most two tone paint jobs have a color in between to break the lines, so I put it in. It's just sublte enough to pick up the red calipers. I might do a red stitch in the interior to carry the theme if I can sell it to my interior designer...;)

Vegas69 06-23-2011 09:06 PM

Congratulations on getting some color on that slow poke. :D

Ron in SoCal 06-23-2011 09:18 PM

^ Thx Todd. I know I can always count on you for a little push.

I think I'm coming to town on Thurs. Wanna do a blast across the lake on Fri or Sat? Bring your life vest...:D

Ron in SoCal 06-24-2011 04:28 PM

So my painter sent me a couple of pics today, now that the mad rush to color is over. I debated not posting more of the same, but I think we're mostly picture ho's (at least I am) so here goes:

Staying on point -
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/P6170024.jpg

Better CF contrast -

Decklid -

http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ntJob011-1.jpg

And that's a wrap for this week. Sanding has begun and three stage finish buff/polish is scheduled for Monday. The plan is reassemble and get it on Roger's show hauler for the return trip from Colombus. Props to Roger for making sure I do not have a repeat of how this journey began well over a year ago. I will post outside/assembled pics when I get them.

Many thanks to all for the positive comments and PMs. To me, it's the journey not the destination when doing a project and sharing w you guys makes it all the more fun...

Big ups for the zen thinking Ron. Let another 4yrs go by (I know you won't) and let's see how that holds out lol. Personally I'm at "screw the journey, I'm over it - someone get me to my destination already!"

Cheers buddy! See you tomorrow at BJ. Dragging D!ck and Matt along with me.

Keep it comin Ron... I like the CF contrast so far. You've actually found some things to do that are unique on a 1st gen Camaro.

Did Matt build the rendering stand for you? :unibrow:

Thx Ty...it's funny, even w the render you never know what it'll turn out like when mixing colors until it's done. And I'm kinda sick, I always second guess my decisions.

Appreciate the comments Curtis! As Dave pointed out, it's really not too unique - exposed CF/red stripe/dark color - and I'm ok w that. I'm aiming more toward the car being built right. A little show is good, but only to match the street car event functional theme (with r888s  )

Cris@JCG 06-28-2011 09:34 AM

Looking DAMM good their Ron! Looking forward to seeing it in person soon..
