Eric, I have a friend who will be selling a 4" steel cowl hood. I personally don't like the look of them but it may clear the Holley intake.

Ok, so things have been happening pretty quickly lately as it's all about throwing things on the car.
I felt like Dr. Frankenstein last night as I plugged in the battery to see if the lights were working hehe. For some reason the backup lights weren't coming on, but that may just be until I hook up the dash stuff... not sure yet. It's ALIVE!!!! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7003/6...b4592a96_b.jpg Then I figured I have enough time to throw in the radiator from AutoRad... MUUAHAHH!! This thing is ginormous! haha. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6...88c96e2a_b.jpg |
While I wait for the new LS3 intake to get here, I thought I'd finish the wiring in the dash since the rest of the car wiring is pretty much done.
Trying to integrate the AAW system with the LS wiring harness with the Stack Cluster was a bit of a noodle-scratcher, but it wasn't all that bad all things considered. The fuel pump comes on nicely for 5 seconds and stops just like it should. Radio works, all the lights work (head lights, turn signals, brakes ..etc..)... the only one I haven't hooked up yet that I'm sort nervous about is the LS wiring harness wire for the "start" signal.... Too nervous!! HAH! Anyways, I think I'm a bit low on oil pressure, eh? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7020/6...34347166_b.jpg |
Sweet! Nice job DR Frankenstien :woot:

UPDATE: The intake had to go, so off it came. I'm really bummed to see it go, it's such a cool piece and looked wicked. *sigh* Oh well. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7168/6...3aec4b78_z.jpg In other news, it looks like Rupp wrote up a small piece for Camaro Performers and Nick printed my build in their magazine. Such a cool thing to see your own build in print. Hope they don't mind I posted this little snap shot I took the other night. Thanks again guys! If you guys don't have a copy, go out and get one! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7142/6...0d846aba_z.jpg |

Smallish update: Interior is going back in! YA!! This is going to be so awesome! Really nice to finally clear up some space in my basement that's full of parts hehe. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7007/6...e6471961_z.jpg |
Thanks max! Im loving everything your doing! car is going to be bad to the bone! haha

Latest Update: Found a place for the ECU. I didn't really want to put the ECU in the cab as that would have required me to drill another hole in the firewall. So, this seemed to be the most logical of places with the amount of wire I had to work with. It's hidden and out of the way and once the intake tube is installed, no one will even see it. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6...1f5c4a98_z.jpg Why labels on dash!? BECAUSE RACECAR. Found the label maker and went a little nuts with it hehe. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6...c4bc2c06_z.jpg New intake and fuel rails came in the other day. I dunno, just doesn't look the same... feels naked or something. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7172/6...2b1f4630_z.jpg |
I finally got some time away from the wife for a bit to work on the car.
My buddy Nate from www.one-guys-garage.com (hire him, he's talented) came over and built me a rear seat delete panel that he was able to do in an afternoon and probably would have taken me 3 weeks! It matches the floor carpet perfectly and I'm pretty happy with the results. Beats taking that old stupid rear seat in and out all the time. I can finally get the drivers seat in and start finishing the interior once I figure out the transmission situation. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7188/6...4f38ae7a_b.jpg While Nate worked, I was able to get a lot of small projects done on the engine such as the hood hinges, some extra wiring for the fans, bolting up the front sheet metal...etc... all small junk. The new intake is starting to grow on me, I'm starting to like it. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7070/6...2287a569_b.jpg Here's Nate holding down the new aluminum hood. Seems to fit fairly well considering the front fenders aren't even close to be aligned properly. Pretty neat to finally see it almost to being driveable! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7209/6...30f00b01_b.jpg |
looks great wish mine was that close lol

Looking Great! cant wait to see her on all 4

[QUOTE=FETorino;395379]It will grow on you more when you mash the pedal. The hp and torque curve were better than the holley. Beat it everywhere but peak.
nice locking car,if you would like a new intake i can get you one for 750 dollar. |
Won't be long before the beast is hauling ass down a track somewhere.
It's turning out really nice Eric. Great looking car, and one hell of a parts list. All the best ingredients for serious fun! |

Lesson #3,203 for myself: When pouring new power steering fluid into the reservoir... make sure you've connected all the hoses... Kinda spilled half a quart of PS fluid all over the shop floor before I realized I forgot to hook up the return line. LOL Not a lot of work has been done on the car lately as I've been working on other projects, completely unrelated to the Camaro. My buddy Nate Shaw made me another part for my car, this intake tube. It has to be an odd shape because the over flow tank for the radiator protrudes out a bit. Nate's going to match the valve covers' finish, so it should be killer. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6...899dddd4_b.jpg |
Its coming out nice !

I got some sweet bling in the mail and it's been a while since I've been able to get to it, but LED's are the way to go. They are so much brighter and clearer, not to mention the bezels look hella sweet compared to the dusty old ones. I got mine from Eddie Motorsports, the same place I got my hood pins, latch and hood hinges.
Just noticed that I hadn't replaced the flasher yet so the it looks like the brakes are on full all the time. Funky stuff happens I guess when you try to install LEDs with the correct flasher. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5235/6...51116c9e_c.jpg |
Back from the bling trip and now on to the business end of things.
The engine bay is D-D-D-DOOONNNNE!! YYEEAAAH!! Almost ready to fire it up, just waiting on a transmission. Then onto the front half of the carpet and put the torque arm back in and it's time to drive this summabich! :D Not too bad for a psychotherapist with 11 thumbs and no patience. LOL http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...nginefront.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...engineside.jpg |
Looks really good, well done with the install. I'm sure you'll have some LS swap pointers for us soon ;)

UPDATE 4-29-12 I was able to find some time between work and my anniversary to get my transmission put in. I got me a Tranzilla!! MUUHAHAHH!!! It's basically a modified Tremec Magnum by Rockland Standard Gear. Gear ratios: 2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 .80 .50 It's built with carbon rings in gears 1 through 4 and a viper tailshaft/extension. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...-tranzilla.jpg I'm so god damned stoked for this I can't take it. This thing shifts so damn nice it's crazy! Can't wait to actually drive it and shift it for real HAH! They told me that this combo is good up to 1,000ft lbs, so i'm really ready to upgrade that motor when it gets a little too "slow" hehe. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...tranzilla2.jpg The only problem I ran into was the cross member that comes with the speed tech frame. The Viper tailshaft is a lot lower than the stock T56. Had to add some extensions between the crossmember and the frame. Good thing this frame has so much room to play with I didn't really have to modify squat. Really makes things a lot easier, that's for sure. I need to change out the TH400 tranny yolk with a 30-spline viper version. Anyone have a spare one? *hint hint* The car is going off tomorrow to the painter to get the hood painted, alignment and a few touch ups to some scratches I made. By then the rest of the stainless exhaust should have shown up so we literally only have that left and the car is ready to be driven!! |
Ok, car went off to paint today... Except it didn't go so well. I was so full of myself that i didn't bother to look at the obvious flaw, the ride height. Pretty sweet stance though, eh?
http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...943-paint3.jpg Ride height wasn't set yet and we had a bit of a rub .... well... all over. LOL In the spirit of full disclosure, I did manage to get the car stuck on the world's smallest curb... in front of my house. haha http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...1944-paint.jpg And then it was off to paint and alignment. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...942-paint2.jpg |
Inquiring minds wanna know...
…ARE YOU KEEPING THE SPIDER??? I mean truly, it's so badass... not unlike the honeybadger.:D  |

I don't think one inch higher on all four corners will make that big of a difference in stance to be honest. :) |
I think a while back someone asked for a start up video... well... how about a video of the very first start up?!?!
How's this? It shocked the crap out of me that it actually started on the first crank over haha! Might want to turn your speakers down, i haven't put the exhaust on it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lm3f...&feature=g-upl |
Video! I don't see no stinkin video! lol
I love the job you did on the install. That motor looks so sweet in there, and good Idea with the blocks to drop the cross member. Also enjoyed the curb out front of the house. This stuff happens to me all the time. Nice Job! |

Fixed it ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lm3f...&feature=g-upl |
That must have been a sweet feeling hearing it for the first time. Congrats!
|
Thanks Wayne! It really was nice to see it kick over and stay running at the very first crank :)
UPDATE: Finally getting some noticeable progress from the body shop after they fixed a bunch of junk that had been neglected. Car got an alignment, raised about an inch to clear my driveway LOL. I was shocked to hell that my 'eyeballed' front frame install was laser checked to within 1/10th of 1 degree. We don't need no stinking tape measurers!!! HAHAH!! Anywhoozle, to the photos :) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8011/7...7ef7c491_c.jpg Doing some custom stripes, the paint scheme should match the wheel lip brushed metal finish :D I thought I was clever and the first to think of this idea... that is until I noticed the 2012 Camaro at the dealership have the EXACT same stripe pattern... that I literally drive by everyday for the past 2 years.... so much for originality lol. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7216/7...a636ddc2_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8011/7...bb190dff_c.jpg Exhaust is next, most likely this week the car should be wrapped up and tagged for the street!! w00t!! |
