Awesome work Brent. Love the detail.

The Chassis and exhaust look amazing. I really like how you have the mufflers in the back. I've always wanted to do that.

Keep the pics coming.

engine sketch looks amazing, but the console looks quite rugged and as such maybe a little at odds with the original wurlitzer jukebox dash styling

i think the hummer hx nailed the rugged jukebox look really well, apologies if it sounds like i'm being negative, the car looks awesome

I've got a shop that can cut it if you can get me drawings.

ironworks 06-09-2009 08:59 PM

So can we and the car is already at my shop....:D

Ricochet 06-10-2009 09:19 AM

Just not sure if my wallet can keep up!! :_paranoid

We'll Ironworks has still been plugging on away on the car. We had some issues do to rack and pinion location so building the driver side header was on hold until that was cleared up. That has been figured out now so they just finshed everything up. Exhaust done - time to move on to the motor compartment!!

Nice - I am really starting to like that little shop called Iron Works.

ironworks 06-10-2009 10:00 AM

Thanks, You should see what we can do with Novas and Farm trucks..

Roadster Shop 06-10-2009 10:27 AM

Just found this thread and checked out the progress.... nice project. The renderings are sick! It is rare to see a non "Show Car" build on a Tri-5. It is a great looking car and should turn a lot of heads. Headers and exhaust look top notch too!

Thanks!! Much appreciated especially coming from you guys. This is just a simple "home built" build with a few extra touches. So far accomplishing what I set out to do - just taking forever! But then again most of us are feeling that pain!!

In regards to the renderings - Mike Desmond (http://www.wargasser.com/) does killer work. He has been on the down low the past few years branching out in many other areas - but is coming back out in the mix. He did some other renderings for me that really pushed the envelope. I wish I had the talent and money to pull off his ideas.

Kendall Burleson 06-10-2009 08:10 PM

The Car look killer your welding is getting better.

Updates in the Air Intake

We'll Rodger and boys are still plugging away on the car. Now that the exhaust is all done we have moved forward to the air intake. Below is the renderinrg Mike Desmond did for me. As reality set in and really started to shape up we had to a couple audibles and changed a few things from the original rendering. We had to run it a little wider to accomdate the air cleaner and we decided to run it up the the firewall and cover the throttle body, TPS sensor and all the wiring etc. We'll see as she gets closer - but I like the way it is shaping up.

Ricochet 07-31-2009 11:30 PM

A couple more

Here are a few more. One of my main concerns was I did not want a "Motor Cover" or look "Street Roddish" - nothing against - just not what I was wanting. So far I think we are acheiving our goal. To give it a more Industrial look I'm thiinking of using exposed hardware on top kinda of like the bolts on the on the intake but carry them down to the bottom near the grill area. Also it will be 2 toned. First part body color, satin clear & roll into Nickel as it gets to the intake to match the nickel intake, valve covers and other accessories. We'll see as it comes together.

Most owners of '55 Shivy's get senior citizen discounts on their bacon burger dawgs...

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Classy as hell....what in the world are you doing with a big block chevy under the hood? You have to go LSX dude.:unibrow:

I know..I know...Something about those big valve covers though! Trust me though I have thought about it many of times - but I'm already so buried in this combo it's difficult to pull out now. Next car wil be an LSX of some sort!

Vegas69 08-02-2009 08:13 AM

I was kidding!

Reckley 08-02-2009 08:23 AM

Very nice work Brent!! Keep the updates coming.. I like what your doing with the intake.

Nothing wrong with a BBC! lol
Project looks good. I am impressed with the header fabrication. Looks good.

Ricochet 08-02-2009 03:04 PM

Thanks everybody!! Pretty stoked the way it is coming out. In regards to BBC - I wouldn't do it any other way with this car. Just amazing the power they get out of the LSX motors - not to mention the weight savings! Something about the sound of a ratty big block that is unmistakable. You now all about that Todd! I still remeber when you pulled up at Lat G party a couple years ago. You car sounds killer!

The fab work on the headers is second to none - but I can't take any credit for that - I just wrote the check!! The boys at Ironworks get the props!

You said it about the BBC - sound is second to NONE!!! lol Maybe one of the reasons I love Todd's car so much!
But LSx engines are really nice as well. (I have a stock LS1 now.) IRONWORKS did a KILLER job with those headers. WOW!!
Will be following the thread.

If you follow through with the interior sketches as you did with the motor sketches this will be on the top of my list for 55s (subscribed)
dave

Musclerodz 08-03-2009 08:47 PM

Rodger, do you have a Pullmax or did you use something else to make the reveal on the intake cover? Looking good

ironworks 08-03-2009 09:04 PM

Yes I have a Pullmax, But we made that line on the bead roller. It takes to long to make the die to do that on the Pullmax.

Tom.A 08-03-2009 09:32 PM

Lookin sharp guy's.

Ricochet 08-03-2009 09:39 PM

Thanks again everybody for the props! Throw's a little more fuel on the fire to get this thing done!

Thanks Dave. All plans at this point are leaning to execute Desmond's rendering as possible for the interior.

BTW - Your Camaro is going to be insane!
