I had Dellortos on my prevoius build. Was some jetting and tuning, but I've never had a smoother running engine with mechanic roller. The Webers should be a little easier because there are still parts available for those carbs unlike Dellortos. Although, as mentioned, I'm not gonna use the Weber setup on this engine. Intake don't match the heads. |
Not much has happened. Everything that could go wrong with the engine, has. Half of the lifters had the wrong offset. Wrong cam bearings despite support from Dart before ordering, bearing failure on one rocker, wrong camshaft, wrong crankshaft...and the list goes on. Most issues are taken care of, but still waiting for custom made camshaft.
Brakes are almost completely done. Been some issues with clearance and rear calipers but everything is ok now. Don't have that many pics but will post some when I've access to them... |
Ouch! That sounds like a terrible time. Good luck having it all come together properly this time.

Sad to hear of the difficulties. Sad to hear that Dart was awared , but NO help. Glad that things are looking up now. Hope that future work should be a smooth sailing ! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xx On Dellorttos, generally look good but headache to the owners ( including me ) was well beyond fun. Cheers, GM. . |
I'm getting ready to do some major work on my car and was thinking back to how much I like your project, any updates??
Thanks! Dave |
Great build, love the hood and stance.
You nailed it |
Been awhile since I worked on the Camaro. But itīs been even longer since I updated this thread, so here goes =)
Installed the rear brakes. Not quite bolt on, but worked out in the end. http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...eec35c23ce.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...cb9e53a8e9.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...a8c64b3008.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...871d03a5e0.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...0bd9d630ad.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...6d321f2eda.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...d0f2ed46c5.jpg |

Had some clearance issues with the outer steering tie rod end hitting the rim. Adapter bolts and some home made alu sleeves did the trick.
http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...329ed952eb.jpg Took her out "for a spin". Complete, and functional, rolling chassis. http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...abab06cde0.jpg http://www1.garaget.org/gallery/imag...b89e6dd837.jpg |

...and finally - updated the shop!

Holy smokes! What the hell drawer did you say that was in again?
I can only imagine the salesman's eyebrows when you said you wanted over 16 of those base units. then. :captain1: Seriously man... You bring sanitary shop to a whole new level. Have you told us what you do for a living? Or would you if it is not an imposition? |

|
:confused59: Dang!
|
Amazing job it looks great! Motor sounds sweet on the dyno.
|
Always great seeing your updates!
Dave |
Awesome! It goes against the grain on this sight, but I love the 15" wheels.
|
Quote:
Itīs not only on this site its against the grain - brakes, steering etc is dimensioned for bigger rims. So it has been a struggle all the way just to keep it "old school". Hopefully it will be worth it! |
