Marty, hanging out with Kenny you must of forgot how to read. It will be getting all new suspension, new tires and wheels and the LT4 engine with an overdrive tranny.

Glad you all like the way it turned out. Worked on the engine today getting it ready.

I will keep posting pictures as things progress.

Thank you so much for making me laugh. I guess that were all used to seeing the prebuild with suspension on the car.

ps still working on picture books I'll keep you posted when I get to the books with small print.

Marty, I know it was a little backwards but when the painter has the opening you must take it as you know.

NOMARO soon to be lowered!!!!

GregWeld 08-05-2014 03:50 PM

Ed,

I was going to offer the use of my shop which has built in chain hooks in the floor for pulling things down.

Sieg 08-05-2014 06:09 PM

It looks pretty good considering it needs close to 3" of altitude adjustment. :D

I've heard a lot of negative comments about the outcome of the car as it's very hard to visualize the appeal even with renderings until you see it near completion and/or in person. It was quite the leap of faith you took and I'd have to say it's going to bury a lot of the negative comments.

Sieg, I have to agree with you, I was/am one of the negative though people, I personal don't like cross breeding. The idea sounded goofy, but now in paint, really looks nice, the craftsman ship is great.
It takes a lot of guts to take a chance like this and it paid off.

Mike and Sieg,
Glad you both like the outcome, yes it is going down about 3" to 4" to get the look I am wanting. I talked with Bret at RideTech today about the coil overs from him so I can get the stance needed along with the performance. I want to keep the look like GM would of done from the factory or as a concept car.
Motor will be painted chevy orange with aluminum valve covers and use the cowl air cleaner on the fuel injection so it looks some what factory. I am also looking at the American Racing Rally wheels in a 18" and 19" for the larger brakes but still keep the factory Rally wheel look.

Interior is going with a set of 69 Camaro deluxe bucket seats covered with the black and white houndstooth and stock SS nova door panels in black with the Camaro center console and horse shoe shifter. Gathering the rest of the parts now and will keep updating this thread.

Thanks for all the comments.

Ed.Capen 08-11-2014 08:51 AM

Well I got the trunk cleaned up and painted this weekend. This car was really clean to start with but this really added to the finished look.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1b265334.jpg

Now it is time to work on the inside, clean and paint the floor and insulate it before carpet and seats. The floor was really clean as you can see before the paint work starts.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42ecb1f0.jpg

It is nice to start with a clean car rather then buy one that is rough. Suspension and drive train is next.

Ed

tubbed69 08-11-2014 08:59 AM

That was a really solid car to start with, looking great Ed,when you expecting to have it finished?

This backwards build thing is kinda cool. I may try that on my next build

Trunk looks great

Ben@SpeedTech 08-11-2014 10:14 AM

Yep, shaping up nicely!

ChuckDriver 08-11-2014 02:11 PM

Looking good!

Rick D 08-11-2014 04:14 PM

Ed that really is a very clean car!! Can't wait to see it with the new suspension!

tones2SS 08-11-2014 05:16 PM

Marty, You know how painters are with over spray on a build. This way that is not an issue. We will see how it all turns out. The plan still is SEMA so the push will be on.

Ed

Ed.Capen 08-13-2014 07:02 PM

Guess what showed up today...UPS with a bunch of parts.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psa13ee573.jpg

Also I took some 69 Camaro seats that I had and will use them on this project with the Camaro center console. Seats will get the black and white houndstooth.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psf3a6bc5e.jpg

It was nice that the threaded inserts in the floor for the seats worked for the two outer seat bolts. I will have to make the inner mounting for the seats as this car had a bench seat and no holes for the inner bolts. Console and seats fit just like a Camaro...

Ed :ups:

syborg tt 08-15-2014 07:37 AM

There ya go again.

Now your putting the seats in before the Boom Mat and Carpet. Do you want me to call the guys at DEI and have them explain to you that you want to put the sound & heat insulation in before the seats and the carpet.

ps - Just kidding :tv_happy:

I had a guy argue with me saying that Ford never made a 1965 Falcon. When I told him that I in fact own one and it's sitting in my garage, he laughed and insisted I didn't even know what year my car was.

As you can see it needs tires and wheels and lowered which is all being done next. Also the interior will get a set of 69 Camaro front buckets with Black and White Houndstooth and the console horse-shoe shifter. Door panels and the rest of the interior will be stock black.

Stay tune for more updates.

Enjoy....

Im sorry, i love Nova's.... I love Camaro's..... But not together. The front end doesnt go with the rest. But that might be cause im too used to seeing them seperately. Or maybe its too Camaro-esque for the rest of the blend?

Anyway, Your work on the other hand, is WAY up there, attention to detail is superb.

Maybe if i look at it long enough...... Someday i'll get it!!

Nice work still.

Lead.

I was like you at first, not sure about the look. the 2 separate body lines on the rear quarter through me off, but the more I looked at this project the more I came to really like it.

WSSix 08-26-2014 04:19 PM

The execution is definitely superb which makes it nice. I think something that may help it look "more correct" to those that aren't quite seeing it, would have been to use the non RS front end. That way the round headlights are out front like you're expecting to have on a Nova. Just a thought. I like this car and can't wait to see it finished. I love that it has an LT4.

IndyNova 08-26-2014 04:55 PM

I love it. Looks great. The only thing I don't like is the taillights being that big, but that's my opinion and not worth much..lol but I love it otherwise.

Here the finished rear tail section with the RS billet piece between the tail lights. Maybe this will make it look better to you.

Nice looking motor.

Looks great Ed,nice looking motor.

WSSix 08-31-2014 05:59 AM

Good job, Ed. The motor really does look old school. I think a lot of people aren't going to realize right away it's a modern LT4.

GregWeld 08-31-2014 06:13 AM

Better have it all done and ready in the next three weeks so we can cruise it to Texass!!!

Yeah, that's cool looking! The rs panel is nice! I love that car, best of both worlds

glassman 08-31-2014 09:25 AM

Ed, if thats the LT4 from the mid nineties, wheres the optispark or distributor conversion?,

Greg, it will be at the shop, but it is going to SEMA first before any road trip. I will be taking my 2nd gen Camaro on the tour.

See you in a few weeks. The tour is going to be over the top. We have some really cool places to see and a great group of people going on the tour.

Got all the window trim in, what a job. Door glass and trim is not my favorite. Dash and console are next.

Ed

Love it, will be tons better with different wheels (IMHO). Great project!

Mike, Here is the Dist in the motor. I did remove the Opti-spark and will run the standard HEI Dist with Coil.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psaf9959b3.jpg

Also got the Lizard Skin installed on the floor. Little Dynamat and some insulation and ready for Carpet.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps74318c8a.jpg

Adding the Tach to the Dash and working with Classic Instrument to build custom center console gauges as I do not need two fuel gauges.

Enjoy. :flag2:
Ed

Ed.Capen 09-03-2014 05:57 PM

Got drivers seat done with the new foam and hounds tooth seat cover. This should give it the original look but with the new wrap around foam support.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4be8a049.jpg

Now I can get the shifter and console mounted.
