Tell them boys they are doing a fantastic job!

There's a reason for everything and the debut of the car will be even bigger than SEMA!

Just tell me when and where you guys are going to Debut the car and I will be there.

Car looks great and tell them to keep their heads up, But you can never trust those paint guys always double their original quote on how long it will take. :warning:

Your right G, the extra time will make for a better end product. Now that time isn't an urgency, the car will head back to the shop and get a full cage completed as only a four point was done at the time.

LOL, the boys putting the "COOL' into a Gen 5 single handily. Which isn't as easy a task as starting off with an already cool 1st gen!

The way I see it, this WILL be a SEMA car for years to come. I think any vendor whose part is on this car would love to have something of this detail in their booth.

Hopefully 2014

Here the intake that will be going on the project. The rapid prototype will go on the car till tooling is completed and replaced with a production piece. The intake will be price to be competitive with the FAST intake. The runners and plenum are composite Zytel material. It's the strongest polymer on the planet to date. Power wise, expectation are over 50/50 HP/TQ

NRE is a really nice piece but this is a different intake. I heard it's making some really good numbers. This one is made out of composite were the NRE is a cast.

FYI - Nice little feature

http://www.lsxtv.com/news/worlds-pre...-prettiest-ls3

World’s Prettiest LS3?

If the old adage “God lives in the details” is true, than Nathan Moreno has built quite a shrine in this LS3 motor that ultimately will find its way back home to his Gen 5 Camaro. This thing is a razor sharp take on state of the art engine porn and seems a shame to be tucked under the hood of a car. The motor was recently posted on Lateral-G with quite a laundry list of high tech hardware.

Along with a displacement bump to 418 cubic inches, this LS3 is sporting a ported intake and throttle body, 11.4:1 compression ratio, Lingenfelter cam and heads, Lunati crank and rods, CP pistons, Pure Power billet oil filter, Innovators West 8 rib pulley and Turn One power steering.

Nathan must have gone through a lot of die grinder abrasives after all the smoothing and finishing that went into this build. Working with a gray, tone on tone color pallete consisting of BMW “Frozen” gray, gunmetal and anthracite, the result a high tech pin up that takes more than one viewing to appreciate. The carbon fiber valve covers are just the right garnish for the top of the motor and Nathan even manages to make the composite intake manifold look cool.

In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted on when this gasoline DaVinci is reunited with Moreno’s Camaro. Until then, put a glass table top on it and let mere mortals pay homage at the shrine.

Been a while since updated the thread. Taking care of a lot of little stuff thats just time consuming!

Mounted the oil coolers.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psc897c63f.jpg

Modified the Derale brackets that came with the cooler. The PS and Engine cooler brackets were welded together and fab up some end brackets to mount them onto the custom rad support.

For the Diff and trans coolers, they fab a cradle out of aluminum and welded the Derale brackets to them. The look from below is pretty cool with the four fans lined up in a row.

One of the proverbial "two step back scenario" of the project has been the roll cage. After having it mostly completed, the boys sat in the car to check the head room clearance only to conclude there wasn't enough for comfort. We studied multiple Camaro cages at PRI including the factory COPOs, they all have very little head room. So the boys are ripping out the entire cage and start all over again. This time the factory head liner wont be a consideration. The cage will run as close to the body as possible. This should give them about 6 inches of clearance. None of the cage will be visible as it will be hidden under a custom suede headliner and interior panels.

Thanks guys! Boys rally appreciate all the votes of confidence.

Doing a lot of misc stuff right now.

After three different coil bracket designs, finally settled on this one. Kinda cool as it's becoming a part of the tubular front cradle.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Plumbing up the whole deal... engine, trans, ps, diff coolers, radiator, fuel, brakes, catch can, vacuum lines, etc...... is a lot of work.

This was pretty cool. Instead of using a clamp to hold the vacuum line, the boys removed factory press in tube and replace it with a AN fitting.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5c33d582.jpg

1/8 NPT thread was taped.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps08870502.jpg

A lot nice and mechanical look.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8f3dee52.jpg

Random pics but I thought I'd post it as it's looks so clean!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2ed0c6e.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb470cb4d.jpg

A lot of work went into making the bracket for the catch can. The spacer was welded to the bracket for a clean look.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1d96a3a.jpg

You can see a better view of the bracket in this pic. Now it just need to get powder coated.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb44b6326.jpg

In the next three pics you can see how the PVC line was completely rerouted to the back of the engine.

Very nice work on the coil mounts! Plumbing is an art - just like wiring. Takes a lot of time to make it all work and look as clean as possible. Great job!

waynieZ 01-12-2014 02:23 PM

More great Fab work ! Very Nice Al.

canrc 01-12-2014 02:52 PM

Absolutely beautiful work! The attention to detail is insane!

I just have one quick suggestion with the position of the MAF -- I had mine about that close to the throttle body and was told that when the TB blade closes if the MAF is mounted to close, the turbulence is forced back through the MAF resulting in inaccurate readings/single sent to the PCM. It needs at a minimum of 9" to 12" to avoid this.

Al Moreno 01-12-2014 03:21 PM

That there is a good point sir! Mine is still mounted close to the throttle body -- I am now a year later having it changed so it couldn't have been that bad, haha!

Again the build is amazing!

Thanks! The cars has Five harness. Two have been completely redone and the other three were given a hair cut.

Here is whats left of the interior harness after removing all the unnecessary wires and connectors.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8075ec5b.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps04291e6d.jpg

Over 9 lbs of wires remove off the interior harness alone.

This is the accessory harness. You can see how it is now routed through the frame instead of the engine bay.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps485b3665.png

The speed sensor connector not drops into the wheel well instead of cluttering the engine bay.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6e25511d.png

You can see were it comes out of the frame and feeds the horns, radiator fans, air temp sensor and ground.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1ffe6ae.png

Here you can see how the harness runs across and over to the passenger side.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3b0f4bc7.png

We really need to give and HUGE thanks and shout out to Eric from EJ Wire Works http://www.ejwireworks.com who has been doing all the wiring. He is definitely a God send!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0d475007.jpg

He's been in the business over 25 years, and specializes in Trophies trucks where those harness are just over the top. He worked at Alpine at one point where they made those custom SEMA cars. Hot Rods and Custom Stuff uses him as their go-to guy for all of their wiring. So for any home builder or Pro shop looking for a great guy, Eric is your man as he is mobile and does works in all the west coast states.

Here is another one of those cool little details. Notice how the water vapor line now goes into the radiator tube instead to the actual radiator. Next the radiator cap will be welded into the tube also. Lot's of thoughts and work into this tube!

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psbff39e4a.png

The engine was missing something...... So for the crowning jewel, OZMO is making the first single long runner single TB intake. Should arrive in 6 weeks.

The runners are 6.8" long. It will run a 102 Nick Williams Billet TB.

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7eda9f4.jpg

http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps376f1c9f.jpg

The boys are contemplating whether to go with the rails on the inside or outside but are leaning to outside as it compliments the mechanical theme..

Bowtieracing 02-08-2014 09:40 AM

Thanks Al for great detailed info. This is so far coolest topic i have seen!

Ricochet 02-08-2014 11:23 AM

Beautiful!! The intake is slick! Where do you get those radiator hose clamps?

Thanks in advance!
