The way I see it, this WILL be a SEMA car for years to come. I think any vendor whose part is on this car would love to have something of this detail in their booth.

FYI - Nice little feature
http://www.lsxtv.com/news/worlds-pre...-prettiest-ls3 World’s Prettiest LS3? If the old adage “God lives in the details” is true, than Nathan Moreno has built quite a shrine in this LS3 motor that ultimately will find its way back home to his Gen 5 Camaro. This thing is a razor sharp take on state of the art engine porn and seems a shame to be tucked under the hood of a car. The motor was recently posted on Lateral-G with quite a laundry list of high tech hardware. Along with a displacement bump to 418 cubic inches, this LS3 is sporting a ported intake and throttle body, 11.4:1 compression ratio, Lingenfelter cam and heads, Lunati crank and rods, CP pistons, Pure Power billet oil filter, Innovators West 8 rib pulley and Turn One power steering. Nathan must have gone through a lot of die grinder abrasives after all the smoothing and finishing that went into this build. Working with a gray, tone on tone color pallete consisting of BMW “Frozen” gray, gunmetal and anthracite, the result a high tech pin up that takes more than one viewing to appreciate. The carbon fiber valve covers are just the right garnish for the top of the motor and Nathan even manages to make the composite intake manifold look cool. In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted on when this gasoline DaVinci is reunited with Moreno’s Camaro. Until then, put a glass table top on it and let mere mortals pay homage at the shrine. |

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2013/12/this-ls3-though/ https://www.facebook.com/KatechPerformance?filter=3 Been a while since updated the thread. Taking care of a lot of little stuff thats just time consuming! Mounted the oil coolers. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa77e8d74.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psc897c63f.jpg Modified the Derale brackets that came with the cooler. The PS and Engine cooler brackets were welded together and fab up some end brackets to mount them onto the custom rad support. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3e50dc4c.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps134176b4.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd6fd1765.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse9f09030.jpg For the Diff and trans coolers, they fab a cradle out of aluminum and welded the Derale brackets to them. The look from below is pretty cool with the four fans lined up in a row. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8cd85c8e.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa29f6bf4.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psfa8e32a5.jpg Making custom coil brackets. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psfc73930f.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse2113df6.jpg |
A lot of little stuff getting completed, small brackets, etc....
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psed0b781d.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps396ccdff.jpg Saved some weight by replicated the steel plate out of carbon. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1ae9a1f9.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps57748a87.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd562dccc.jpg the steering wheel, shift knob and boot, and hand brake completely redone by DCT motorsports (They specialize in exotics). The steering wheel was complete reformed. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psae9ac73f.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7366411b.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8158d8e9.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psccddc9f4.jpg One of the proverbial "two step back scenario" of the project has been the roll cage. After having it mostly completed, the boys sat in the car to check the head room clearance only to conclude there wasn't enough for comfort. We studied multiple Camaro cages at PRI including the factory COPOs, they all have very little head room. So the boys are ripping out the entire cage and start all over again. This time the factory head liner wont be a consideration. The cage will run as close to the body as possible. This should give them about 6 inches of clearance. None of the cage will be visible as it will be hidden under a custom suede headliner and interior panels. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps997e906b.jpg |
The car is Sick and it makes me want to start my car all over again.
|
Al just amazing, it's just over the top for sure!!
|
Al, Everytime I check out the thread I finding myself reaching for the phone to call the Chevy dealer to order a new 5th Gen Z/28.Love the build.
|
Your boys are doing an amazing job. The attention to detail is over the top.:headspin:
|
Al :wow: :wow: :wow: LOVE your stuff! I think I want to come visit and see this masterpiece in person.
Props to you and the boys... |

Personally - I'm glad they missed SEMA -- cause we get treated to just way more out of this universe fab!
It's an effin' masterpiece! |

Doing a lot of misc stuff right now. After three different coil bracket designs, finally settled on this one. Kinda cool as it's becoming a part of the tubular front cradle. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Attachment 44705 Attachment 44706 Attachment 44707 Attachment 44708 Attachment 44709 Attachment 44710 |
Plumbing up the whole deal... engine, trans, ps, diff coolers, radiator, fuel, brakes, catch can, vacuum lines, etc...... is a lot of work.
This was pretty cool. Instead of using a clamp to hold the vacuum line, the boys removed factory press in tube and replace it with a AN fitting. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5c33d582.jpg 1/8 NPT thread was taped. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps08870502.jpg A lot nice and mechanical look. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8f3dee52.jpg Random pics but I thought I'd post it as it's looks so clean! http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2ed0c6e.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb470cb4d.jpg A lot of work went into making the bracket for the catch can. The spacer was welded to the bracket for a clean look. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1d96a3a.jpg You can see a better view of the bracket in this pic. Now it just need to get powder coated. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psb44b6326.jpg In the next three pics you can see how the PVC line was completely rerouted to the back of the engine. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5b68b197.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psc341348f.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd440c72a.jpg |
Very nice work on the coil mounts! Plumbing is an art - just like wiring. Takes a lot of time to make it all work and look as clean as possible. Great job!
|
More great Fab work ! Very Nice Al.
|
Absolutely beautiful work! The attention to detail is insane!
I just have one quick suggestion with the position of the MAF -- I had mine about that close to the throttle body and was told that when the TB blade closes if the MAF is mounted to close, the turbulence is forced back through the MAF resulting in inaccurate readings/single sent to the PCM. It needs at a minimum of 9" to 12" to avoid this. |

Thanks guys.
Thanks for the suggestion on the MAF. This is the intake that was on the car before. Attachment 44717 We will keep our fingers crossed as you know how it is with this stuff. You never know until you try. |
Awesome stuff Al !!
What do mean plumbing is time consuming and difficult.... |

Again the build is amazing! |

Quick pic of the engine mock up as next week they are doing all the wiring. It’s all going to be mill spec, Raychem DR25 motorsport heatshrink, etc….. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psfded6c73.png |
Very impressive for a first project.
|
Al,
Looks great! What kind of black braided hose are you using in the engine compartment? |
I really need this to be a feature over on our sister site! Absolutely incredible build.

Here is a little update on the harness. This is what came off. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4291aaa5.jpg This is whats going in. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa2a80744.jpg |
Best just gets better:trophy-1302: Can you share more details what you did for wiring?

Here is whats left of the interior harness after removing all the unnecessary wires and connectors. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8075ec5b.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps04291e6d.jpg Over 9 lbs of wires remove off the interior harness alone. This is the accessory harness. You can see how it is now routed through the frame instead of the engine bay. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps485b3665.png The speed sensor connector not drops into the wheel well instead of cluttering the engine bay. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6e25511d.png You can see were it comes out of the frame and feeds the horns, radiator fans, air temp sensor and ground. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1ffe6ae.png Here you can see how the harness runs across and over to the passenger side. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3b0f4bc7.png We really need to give and HUGE thanks and shout out to Eric from EJ Wire Works http://www.ejwireworks.com who has been doing all the wiring. He is definitely a God send! http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0d475007.jpg He's been in the business over 25 years, and specializes in Trophies trucks where those harness are just over the top. He worked at Alpine at one point where they made those custom SEMA cars. Hot Rods and Custom Stuff uses him as their go-to guy for all of their wiring. So for any home builder or Pro shop looking for a great guy, Eric is your man as he is mobile and does works in all the west coast states. Here is another one of those cool little details. Notice how the water vapor line now goes into the radiator tube instead to the actual radiator. Next the radiator cap will be welded into the tube also. Lot's of thoughts and work into this tube! http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psbff39e4a.png The engine was missing something...... So for the crowning jewel, OZMO is making the first single long runner single TB intake. Should arrive in 6 weeks. The runners are 6.8" long. It will run a 102 Nick Williams Billet TB. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7eda9f4.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps376f1c9f.jpg The boys are contemplating whether to go with the rails on the inside or outside but are leaning to outside as it compliments the mechanical theme.. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps11e6d636.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9a683fef.jpg |
Thanks Al for great detailed info. This is so far coolest topic i have seen!
|
Beautiful!! The intake is slick! Where do you get those radiator hose clamps?
Thanks in advance! |
