Looking good, Mike!

glassman 10-06-2014 06:53 PM

Well just made it home from a 4000 mile road trip. Yep, 4000. 2400 from Pleasanton Ca to Texas, north route, Texas to home south route. The car, well Shes hurtin for certain.

The Hooker/Holley LS i installed after SEMA last year is a complete bust. The headers were so low, we found cracks in the tubes (In Texas of course) and it ran full rich the whole way home. Not knowing this was the problem, we ran outa gas in the middle of nowhere in north west texas (at mile 260 and was getting up to 400 per tank). Had the complete good fortune of an empty flat bed come by and towed us to Amarillo. Thank goodness it was only a gas issue. My MPG went from 23 to 16. And thats a longass drive.

Gonna do a write up on the trip like i did last year. It will be in open discussion, but I wont mention Charlie, hes a handful.

Great people, great driving great time. Shi__ty weather. Two friggen hurricanes. one in Utah (roof caved in across from where we were stayin) and comeing into Fort Worth. Rained each day. But the show was better than last year.

More to follow, but i've been away for 11 daze and time to spend some time with my lovely of 28 years.

Wish I could have come up from Austin to meet up with you. Glad you made it to and from safely. Looking forward to reading all the details.

FYI - I haven't finished my install but so far I really like the fitment of my SW headers. I'll know more in a couple weeks when the install is complete and will certainly post more pics in case you are considering them.

They are sorta training wheels for headers, ha ha. Mike keeps tearing them off, so I got him a set that won't hang so low

glassman 12-09-2014 08:26 PM

Can't leave "well enough" alone. Well, it wasn't enough.
After talking to a few different people, I decided to take it to CustomWorksPerformance in Chico. Keith has done me right in the past, and i'm confident he'll do the same this time. He could work with my schedule and do some other things to it as well....

DSE rear. Mini tubs. Forgelines. New Exhaust. and a couple of other goodies....Wegner Motorsports accessories kit, and too come Texas Speed and Performance heads and cam.

Here are some high quality pics

And i'm thinking about a beige interior, though that may just wait...
Once Keith sends me more pics i'll post those up as well....

Your gonna love that rear suspension. In fact your gonna have to relearn how to drive the car.

oh, what headers did you end up with?

gerno 12-10-2014 05:29 AM

Those changes are going to be killer. Looks like good choices on all the parts. Can't wait to see the "finished" product

GregWeld 12-10-2014 07:16 AM

Just Don't start to thinking that will move you into Green group....

Nice adds though!

syborg tt 12-10-2014 07:41 AM

WSSix 12-10-2014 08:40 AM

Maybe they got tired of "pro-touring" and went "pro-snoring" hahahaha:poke: X2

badazz81z28 12-10-2014 08:08 PM

Headers are a challenge on the Sec Gen, I'm not sure why someone has just not yet copied a set of Detroit Speeds...The ground clearance is beyond better than any LT headers out there for the LS 70-81 Camaro.

I need to get my tubs and Q-link installed!!

I've been off the bike for a week and it's killing me. Seems hitting your head on a tree isn't necessarily a good thing. Hopefully I will get back on the bike this weekend.

Umm, news flash, the trees will win every time. Same with concrete....Why do we do this to ourselves?

glassman 12-10-2014 09:57 PM

Whose headers are these? Dse's? man, what a great fit, the only others i know of with that great a fit on our cars is Stainless works...My Dynatech's fit good, but they coulda gone up an inch more, plus the collecter hit on sh!t...But those look fantastic...

Yes, Detroit Speed! I have Dynatechs on the other Camaro and the do fit well. I was really unhappy with how low they set, but man easiest set of headers I have ever installed.

WSSix 12-11-2014 02:55 PM

Those DSE headers do fit nicely. I hope I'm able to make mine fit as nicely.

No updates on my car really, Mike. I've got an alignment coming up that I need to do. I did just get my Pypes system in and a new rear end to start building. Planning on either 3.90s or 4.10s and a Trutrack dif I believe. Plan to order my header parts soon, too. So, lots of plans and ideas but no really progress.

So, progress at Custom Works Performance....Keith is real good to work with. On time On budget (i guess experience counts huh?

Hopefully rear end in next week and one day closer to seat time

Thanx Skip, yeah 4100 miles on this one trip, the exhaust was bad from Hooker from the get-go, i shouldn't have "let it go"...cause now i have a weird wiring issue with my O2 sensors (causing a full rich scenerio) and i thought it was the wearing out of the headers from being too low, but it appears i hit something and tore some of the wiring loose, not sure....but after driving it 4100 miles on this trip, after about two or three dayz, i just wanted to drive it again....i guess thats a good thing.

WSSix 01-01-2015 04:09 PM
