You've certainly inspired my next build. While completely different(72 GMC K1500) I like an awful lot of what you did here!

Very well done. |
Thanks
Thanks everyone !
As always its really nice to receive the great feedback from you guys especially when I'm building a vehicle that is not really in 'line' with the traditional builds on this site Yessir Greg, seems that way but in the background we have prebuilt and fabbed up everything already ... 3 steps forward and then 2 steps back Almost there .... Cheers Steve |
Is it done yet? :D
Went by Gateway Classic cars here in Phoenix Saturday for a Cars N Coffee and they had a nice FJ40 in there for sale... My wheels got to turning because of this thread so I had to quickly walk away and gather up my senses... :bitchslap: |
Dont worry Lance , Steve's crazy and will sell this one once it's done... right buddy lol
|
welllllll ....
Lance ... thats too funny ! What year and how much did they want ?
Well actually... there is a guy over on the FJ40 forums that is waiting for me to finish and will likely make me an offer ... LOL BUT, Ryan what I really want to do is finish this one and then get my 1966 FJ40 build with the R2.8 Diesel completely done for March and enter them both in the front hall, side by side at the Autorama car show. 2 really high end builds but different, THEN decide which one to sell Don't think thats never been done before and would be really cool Cheers Steve |
My god man ... 3 cars in 2 yrs ... all in the front hall. Your wife must hate you and banker love you lol . I'll be up your way on Sunday, need me to come drink your beer ?

1st off it fired up and ran perfectly right off the bat (no lie), BUT someone forgot to plug an oil galley in the back of the block and oil went EVERYWHERE !!! LOL Other than that I could not be more happy, this thing is running perfectly BIG thanks to Paul that did a great job on building the motor and putting everything together with me (click pic) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1792/...6a124d2b_b.jpgIMG_9176-3 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |

Stereo

Ok guys, so got all the stereo components hooked up temporarily yesterday and I have to say that this may be the best sounding system I've ever put together. Absolutely crystal clear, extremely precise and punchy and NOT boomy whatsoever ... and wow LOUD if you want. Here is the list of items I'm using Sony XAV-AX100 JL Audio JX360/4 amp (JL replaced now with RD400/4) NVX QBUS8v2 8" powered sub under passenger seat, WOW for the $$ this thing is amazing !! https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...Amplifier.html And these speakers ... I cannot say enough about these, if you like rock then these are for you infinity KAPPA 693.11i 6x9 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-in...8AAOSwnw9aC0kM Infinity Kappa 60.11cs 6 1/2" in the kick panels https://www.ebay.com/itm/Infinity-Ka...IAAOSwXRxauSGA Should be completed by this weekend !! Cheers Steve |
This thing turned out awesome! Which SEMA booth can we check it out in? Seriously, be much more of a draw than another lifted JK/JL.
|
Sema
John, thanks for that comment, boy that would be quite an honour, and I would take it if I wasn't like 2 thousand miles away LOL
Yes, as this thing comes together I could not be happier, again like the Camaro I had a vision for this truck and I believe it came together just the way I wanted ... when seen in person everyone's 1st words are 'bad A$$ !!' and thats exactly the response I was looking for Off for interior this morning !! I know I'm a little biased but I tend to agree .... (8 https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1875/...75d38ccc_h.jpgIMG_9317 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
How about "seriously bad ass"!
Nice job! :trophy-1302: |
That thing is awesome. Great job.
|
Gorgeous FJ40!
|
That is beautiful! Probably camera angle but is there any issue with the forward edge of rear tires contacting the body?
|
