Congrats Ronnie! Can't wait to see some non-incriminating video action.

DaleTx 02-03-2014 07:21 PM

Glad to hear you've got the tune dialed in. I got some tips from Mike Norris when I was planning my build... Great guy.

The engine compartment looks real good. I sure like the looks of the aluminum radiator close out panel... I might try to make something similar if you don't mind.

I was Payton, but the shop had an opening and I decided to not corner weight/align twice.

Doesn't everyone build their car at Home Deep?

fleet 02-04-2014 08:05 AM

Ron,

The internet was buzzing with rumors today that DP definitely didn't suck.

I see the algore-ites were right.

:D

Hahaha, that's funny. You thought Ron only had two Home Depot buckets? I heard that he changes buckets as often as he does wheels.

I bought some buckets from him that were brand new and hadn't been "installed" in his car. Then I turned around and sold them too.

Nice stance.

Holy crap! How did I miss an update to this thread? It must have been going on so long that my subscription ran out.

Now that the engine is tuned up the excuses are running out for the lack of a burnout video.

Meanwhile, this Prius is kicking your butt!

Frankenstine 02-05-2014 12:59 PM

Damnit

That PRIUS got NOS on it lol great Vid

Should get more exciting soon. I think Ron is quite because he is trying to build up suspense.

*hint* his car left BOS on Monday.

No burnout vids. I know that's how you gun toten Wisconsin boys roll, but I'm saving my tires for trackdays. :D

Thanks Matt!

Yep, the car is off to interior. We have a somewhat sparse, but nice plan. Fits the car I think :sieg:

MIke Norris showed up at the shop and gave it a good four hours of tuning. He thinks it's 98% until it goes to the dyno for a little under the curve and top end refinement. I feel pretty comfortable it's where it needs to be for break in and early track days. I got a good laugh out out of a couple of his comments:

"She's a real head turner"
"Just a little light on power under 2500"

I know what he meant and totally trust and respect his opinion, but man the car feels lke '650hp/prepare for flight.'

More to come when I get back in town

GregWeld 02-13-2014 03:24 PM

Even when it's all done (IF EVER) the Prius will still probably win -- and I've seen 'em run BACKWARDS on the AutoX cross - faster than this one might be able do it going forward....

Let's hope it turns out to be more reliable than a couple built "professionally" that I can think of.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's what Cheap/worn tires are for! :snapout:

With the numerous sets of wheels that I've heard you went through with this project I find it hard to believe you don't have some "mock-up" tires around to destroy. :shakehead:

Anyone near Ron have a set of junky tires to loan him for the burnout vid?

Glad you spoke up instead of me! I ride him like a bad donkey.... But I love him like a brother...

Having said that.... I think he might just be afraid of the car.... What do you other fellers think?? :>)
