Another big thanks to Wilwood. They exchanged brakes that Tony had bought years ago and even though the design had changed they swapped them out no charge, not even for shipping.

Yes, the swept areas will be bare metal just like zink, but all the other areas will remain black. Wilwood has found that this coating holds up much better over the long run compared to zink.

Would be cool if the whole deal stayed black but reality prevents that :)

I'm sure it's been tested but I would be concerned with impregnating the brake pads with whatever that coating is. I've seen brake pads that appear to have been dipped in paint for whatever vendor is selling them then they grind the surface clean. The paint remains on the edges of the pad though. As the pad wears that paint gets into the friction material causing noise and sometimes vibration and uneven wear. This has been usually with more budget oriented pads though.

Its not paint, it is black oxide plating. Same basic coating as the zinc wash they used to use, but is just black instead of silver. it is also a little more durable than zinc to corrosion, more like cadnium.

Blessing

All,
I read about Anthony's 68 and the most amazing thing people could do in the new Camaro Performers magazine today. I am quite sure there are no words he could express to thank each of you for what he has been blessed with by the group of folks belonging to this site. I pray that each of you are blessed 10X!!!

Thank you for the kind words! You are correct; Jennifer and I have been very blessed! It is difficult to express in words how grateful we are, but I have tried many times...I think the community here understands.

It's great to see that you read about the story in Camaro Performers and then became a member here....that's just awesome!

Welcome aboard!! :)
