Okay so here is Plan "C"

Since the Wagner built motor is going to the Junkyard less a few parts. I am going to be ordering this Motor & Trans
from Speedway Motors and cutting my losses.

Marty,

Wouldnt ot be cheaper to replace broken rings and reseal the engine than buy a new one?

To me (I known Im different) new can just be another train wreak. Do it myself, I know whats going on and who to blame..

We have a saying here about leaking american cars:
If they are not leaking, means that they are out off oil. LoL

No, LS is pretty good keeping fluids in. Old school stuff, not so much.

dontlifttoshift 07-17-2025 06:05 AM

Just an FYI.

That engine is 24x on the crank reluctor. (Disregard that, I see it was an LS1 to begin with, so 24x shouldn't be a problem) That may or may not play well with your exisitng electronics. It's also an iron block.

You definitely don't need a 102mm throttle body and sheetmetal intakes suck on street cars, especially with an auto and a 102 mm throttle body.

I'm also on the plan of having existing parts freshened up locally. FinishLine can fix that trans for sure and there are a number of competent engine shops around.

syborg tt 07-29-2025 11:31 AM

Yes, however this will would be the fourth time the engine has been rebuilt.

I have thrown more money at this boat anchor and I just can keep doing it.

Is this the original LS that you started with and Wagner did a rebuild for you?
I'm not familiar with Wagner?

Packing Up the car and all of the Parts 08-01-25

So Kenny called and said ship the car to him and you know what I am going to ship the car to him.

Now I just need to pack up all of the pieces that need to go with the car.

Yes, this is the original hood from the car and the cowl hood will soon be hung in my office.

I've always preferred the look of a stock hood on the second Gens. Unfortunately they don't allow a lot of room underneath.

Jeeze yesterday the car, motor, parts were at your house in pieces. Today the engine is painted, installed, and running at his shop. Kinda feel like it's a reality car TV show "timeline" ....

Tinker 09-26-2025 08:05 PM

Marty,
I actually reread the past 10 pages of your post.
I was a little lost how you were doing everything and then it’s all loaded up and someone else is finishing up the car.
I assume the slow progress and the huge setback of engine and tranny were devastating.
Glad to see you haven’t given up on the car and will be driving it soon again.
BTW when I say slow progress don’t take offense because it’s been 13 years since I have driven mine.
I hope you enjoy driving it again, you are lucky to have a friend like Marty and I cannot wait until I can drive mine as well.

Glad to see Kenny’s on it.

No reason Charlie should be the only 1 gettin’ help.

Now you can both be drivin’ your great Camaros…in your golden years.

Golden years, statically speaking I am in them now. Back in 2012 they gave me five years to live.

That’s funny. We talked this morning and I forgot to ask him about the car.

I’ll send him a text now
