Posting an update to my dead thread, because I finally have a legitimate one.
I purchased a motor for the car from a member here, and in typical fashion for me, it was an unbelievable deal. I am still sticking with the one modification at a time plan, and putting the pieces together slowly over time to put in my DSE front subframe--but when I make this mod, I will rewire the car at that time along with a couple other things, including installing the latest acquisition. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u..._201559033.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u..._201759248.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u..._201204895.jpg |
Nice lookin' engine there Doug. The LS motor is going to look right at home in your engine compartment. I'm still diggin' you're one mod at a time philosophy, good stuff.

Nice score! Glad you're still plugging away at the car, Doug.

I always knew you were smarter than Gordon.

And, of course, if it's on an engine stand in the garage, why not pull it apart to check it out.
I wanted to verify parts from the list to ensure crank, cam, rods, pistons, etc all checked out to spec's. Thus far, all is very well internally with the motor--Pistons are Wiseco forged/coated blower specific, rods are legit, etc.. My plan now is to stud the heads and mains here at the house, and give the heads a once over since I may be pulley this motor for some additional boost. This motor had about 400 miles or so on it. To that end, I pulled the heads and have them over at the FUEL GOD here in So Cal, Bob McCray. He is verifying the previous work done to them; double checking valves are what they are supposed to be from build sheet, porting and bowl work is legit, springs for height, valve job, etc., then do some flow checking for me. Hopefully I can start putting this back together in the next week or so. http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...250435_HDR.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...616702_HDR.jpg http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u..._182717359.jpg So far, the LS is pure joy to work with--except for all the metric crap. It's way easier than the SBC I was used to dealing with. BW |
