What is the reasoning for the mufflers right after the headers. I'm genuinely curious.

Curious minds want to know??
Since I've lost mine, I still want to know, |
Volume/Absorption
Pretty sure the larger resonators at the front are just to add volume and a bit of absorption to reduce (harsh/high frequencies) noise. And placing/packaging them up front allows for more volume (eg. larger resonators).
I would think that placing larger resonators near the headers, before the X-pipe and mufflers, would reduce drone and potentially offer a small performance increase by slightly improving exhaust gas flow. Some other shops place small resonators at the rear of the system (for exhaust note tuning) but my guess is that Charlie is just after a mellow and refined exhaust tone. |
Can we get more details about the round mufflers at the front and the mufflers at the rear?
