Little update column installed - sort of
http://i.imgur.com/LFu6EZtl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3jAveBAl.jpg this took longer than expected as I had to install firewall pad and I already had fuse block, pedal hangers and parking brake installed Ugh I hate having to remove and reinstall then I spent another couple hours looking for Borgesen joint for column - gave up and bought one so some day I will find the one I lost :smiley_smack: at lease installing shaft wasn't too bad the good news is it fit with the 2015 Z28 headers that I went with  https://i.imgur.com/KIqvvPql.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KCV2FYJl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HDvCRZzl.jpg so I'm happy something is done now the steering column a '80?? model didn't quite plug and play with the AAW classic update harness as I expected the T/S harness plug had to have a new connector installed (included in the kit) and it then clipped right into harness plug BUT the Ign switch plug didn't fit the later switch :bang: turns out the AAW harness fits stock 1969 Firebird column and they are different than the later so I called AAW and they have another plug that will need to be repinned to make this work :catfight: OK my rant here: if your going through installing an update harness why would AAW think your not putting a newer column IE tilt ot Ididit or and wire it for the common Ign switch and note that if your using the original 69 Firebird column you will need a new switch or include one that would work since this kit was supposed to be so inclusive?? Ok what do I know so I will wrestle with that next opportunity I have Funny thing is now when the steering wheel rotates L&R the front wheels turn?? WTH? :drowninga: |
Nice meeting you today.. Im starting to think Don knows everyone...

Nah that's for quitters! |
So I have some more progress~ I bent up some sheet aluminum to mount the cooling fan
https://i.imgur.com/1V5fNlN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IucSrRZ.jpg well I ended up doing twice https://i.imgur.com/IbwOP4Ol.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LYpQcZ3l.jpg I like this now but this fan is kind of thick and will be a little hard to work the 4" air intake by it. If I end up using this I will add some sheet rubber between the brackets and tha radiator so it doesn't cause a leak later Vintage Air install is next on the list stay tuned... |
Another update: making it cool : literally
https://i.imgur.com/Q3GO3tXl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7FE0x6Fl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OSG8hwXl.jpg well, Vintage Air has pretty good instructions so its going fairly well-so far, I did find out with the Holley Bracket you need 97-01? Vette Tensioner and idler pulleys and the idler pulley goes on the tensioner and the tensioner pulley is mounted to bracket solid- the belt would of been K060960 except I used a U/D pulley so I needed smaller belt so 2 trips to O'reilly's auto parts Bam! got my belt chipping away at my list of to do's ! |
Some more progress - think were over the hump of Evap box in and out repetitions but time will tell, My son did the AC control mods and it was PITA not real good instructions - not mentioning that other brackets needed to be removed till it was together also bought new knobs and lend for it and a BIG thank you to him!

Now here's a score that I'm glad I did 6 hour road trip to Oklahoma for minimal rust and no repairs ever and under 5 bills- what y'all think?
I'm glad I talked myself into it :RunninDog: https://i.imgur.com/wtlnMoth.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HlfMOz8h.jpg |
