Hot Damn!!! Thanks for the update and the good work Chris, looks good from the pics, I appreciate the pics too.
Parts keep funneling in for this which is good, cause its gonna be a little bit of a mad dash once its painted to get it together and on the road. Sean |
Took a spin out to Aarons to check out the progress on the truck today. Looks great so far.
He is doing a great job!! They finished up all the prep and shot the paint on the bed earlier today. Seam sealer looks great, like factory, bed rails are very clean and straight, even inside the box. Body work looks great as well. Paint is single stage PPG, with enough on to color sand it flat. http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psdxqyabcy.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psw4lptdq3.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psowumkurk.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psna0ypytw.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psvgx6dapj.jpg Aaron said Monday is going to be color sanding and buffing on the bed, he is hoping that they can get it out to get the bed line ex'd. Its going to be under the rails all the way around, front lip and tailgate as well. If they dont get too busy this week they might get paint on the rest of the truck this week. Super excited to see it moving along. Thanks for all the hard work Chris. I gotta get some wheels ordered up soon too. Sean |
Not a ton of progress, bed is color sanded, but not buffed out yet.
Stopped by to throw on my 17's and get some measurements for the final wheels. I really want to run something big on the truck but want it to handle well and drive well. Was originally shooting for a 275/40/20 but think its just too big. So do I run a 19" front wheel or shrink down the tire size to a 275/35/20? Outside diameter is my biggest problem, at the 28" height, the tire will damn near touch the front of the wheel well opening. 27" tire height is much better.... What do all you professional pro tourers say? Rears should work out well. 20x11, 315/35/20 Thanks for the advise. Sean |
No big updates, truck is in paint still. I did manage to drop off the last remaining bits at the powdercoater last weekend and picked up some awesome 7" hella headlights.
Ordered up all the remaining hardware for the powdercoated headlight buckets as well as all new stainless (I believe) hardware for the grille and headlight surrounds. Still at a standstill on the wheels and tires.... |
Looks great!

Very Nice!

Glad to hear it's coming along. I can't help with the wheel selection though. I just don't know how these trucks look with rims well enough to make a suggestion. The only thing I can recommend is to do a search and see what you can find pictures wise and see what looks good to you and matches the build style you're going for. Good luck!

Thanks for the props fellas, I think its coming along well. I know its a little out of the norm for this forum since its both a Ford and a truck =) As far as the wheels go, I finally made the decision yesterday to order the wheels (should have done it two months ago). Emailed back and forth with Jason yesterday and we got it ironed out. I just need to take a few measurements for him as soon as I can get out there. Rushforth Rated X 20x8.5 fronts and 10.5 rears. Polished lips with a candy cleared brushed finish center, I believe that they should end up a little darker than the bumpers and grille, just enough to set off the centers a little bit from the rest of the truck. At least that is the plan, I think the Black centers would just be a little bit too dark for all the white. Sean |

I think you made a good wheel choice.. trying to upload a couple pics I took yesterday

I totally spaced on saying thanks for the update Chris...thanks for the update.
Truck is coming along good, really good actually. Made it out there with a truck load of parts today to get installed. Aaron was there and he gave me a hand for a few hours and we shot the **** a bunch too. Truck is pretty much all assembled after today minus a hood, hood latch, spray in bedliner, windshield and passenger door seal. Got the rear bumper, front bumper, grille and headlights installed today. Front sheetmetal is on, still needs more alignment but looks awesome. All the stainless fasteners, powdercoated bits and pieces and fresh paint. One thing I have noticed is that I may need to relocate the rear mount for the lower control arm and pull the frontend back a little, might have put that mount a little far forward and could not really notice it without the front fenders on it. Here is a few of the not greatest photos.... http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psgughdqkl.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...pssnpecjpz.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psngfhvh0t.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...pst3tzyj4c.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...psgtvhikzn.jpg http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...ps68jgunbg.jpg Now the rear bumper.....this will not stay on as it looks terrible in my opinion. Ill need to build something or get a bumper that fits like it should, heck even a roll pan would look better. http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5p8c1wuy.jpg Plan is to get the truck on the road in a couple weeks.
