Good Morning All,
I liked to welcome and thank Jeff at AVS Systems for building and helping me with my shaved door handle kit for my project. The kit is a complete bolt in and I look forward to installing it on the truck. If you need any air bag parts or shaved kits check out there web site. http://www.airbagparts.com/ http://www.airbagparts.com/images/header.jpg Here are a few pics of the kit they provided for Project Syborg. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_002.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_003.jpg Everything is prewire - pretty hard to screw up this install http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_004.jpg You can see how the selonoid pull is mounted directly to the latch http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_007.jpg |
The door Poppers
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_010.jpg man that's a detail that you hate to cover up http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_01_015.jpg Finally installed the wheels on the Body Dolly that Caleb at Permanently Stained Customs. Caleb has been the behind the scenes body guy that has made most of my mock up panels look to good for mock up. If you need a good painter and did i mention welder you can reach him via e-mail (( [email protected] )) Here is the bed dolly he whipped up for me. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_02_001.jpg |
Good Morning All,
I want to thank Guy at Rockford Racecraft for getting my Rods & Pistons for my Motor. I dropped off the Block, Camshaft, Timing Chain & Cover and the Balancer (thank John Waller). So we could get started building the motor. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_001.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_002.jpg Dave was only able to spend a couple hours on the truck last week. So not much was done. He was able to get the bracing started behind the dash for the steering column, brake pedal and the vintage air. We are going to put tabs on the rod so we can anchor the wire harness to it to keep the underside of the dash clean. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_013.jpg Here is a close up of the pedal brace http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_007.jpg |
You can see how nice the column comes through the firewall. Trying to keep it as clean as possible. We also lowered it about an inch to gain the needed header clearence.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_008.jpg Here is the start of the new dash surround. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_017.jpg Here is the first template - three 3 3/8 guages with two 2 1/16 guages http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_018.jpg Here is the 2nd attempt - three 3 3/8 guages with four 2 1/16 guages http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_019.jpg |
Here is the third template - three 3 3/8 guages with two 2 1/16 guages & 2 5/8 guages. Guy at Rockford Racecraft was kind enough to lend me some guages to play with. I plan to make some more mock up dashes tommorow night.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_021.jpg okay the new tires came in for the next project http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_031.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_06_032.jpg Thats all for this week. More to come soon |
Man that thing gets cooler and cooler!
-Paul |
Quick Update - The new gallery is up
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/gallery/Build it has all of the pics of the build so far in a chronological order |
Okay Played with the Gauges again last night. Man am i having fun.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_10_001.jpg I like this one the most http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_10_002.jpg |
I vote for the very bottom one! :D
|
Well, looks like Dave got a bunch of work done this week.
There is a lot more room in the new dash housing then we thought. I've got a bunch of playing with the dash to get it to look just like I want it but I like this one the most so far. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_001.jpg Side view doesn't look to busy does it. I can't wait to send the dash to Tom at Hydro Illusions (( www.hydroillusions.com )) to have him make it look like carbon fiber. Did you notice the notch in the floor for the exhaust. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_002.jpg Now that we have the steering column back in. Dave was able to complete the D-Side downpipe. It has the same feel / flow as the P-Side. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_003.jpg Just a quick shot of the downpipe and Mike Lee's Headers (( www.raceprovenmotors.com )) Mike does some really nice work if your looking for a really good guy. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_004.jpg |
It looks like the Master's are far away from the heat but we may make a heat shield just in case.
Did I mention that these are going to be swapped out for Billet one's? http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_008.jpg The exhaust is joined again for the last time on both sides. Dave still has to run the wastegate dumps back into the downpipes. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_017.jpg In order to gain the needed clearance around the intercooler Dave reworked the lower portion of the core support. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_011.jpg Trying to keep the same theme in the build. We did dual Rails similar to the back half. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_014.jpg |
Here is my one of my favorite shots. Looking down into the engine bay.
I think it looks so much cleaner then before. We also gained the needed inner fender clearance. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_025.jpg Before picture -- just in case you forgot. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._11_10_036.jpg Okay I just thought it was a cool picture. Cough - Cough MSD & Autometer sure would be nice sponsors on this project. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_030.jpg |
Just playing around again with camera angle's.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_030.jpg Wait -- Look up you can see the trans pan from Bowler Transmissions (( www.bowlertransmissions.com )). Wow look at that MSD and Autometer again....... http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_18_042.jpg That's it for this week more to come next week. |
Looking good!
-Paul  |
Looking good! I would take the middle one out and move the fuel and tach closer together. would make it look cleaner. Looking real good!! I'm not a big truck guy, but I think it's gonna be killer!
|
Quote:
Thank you. We thought about moving the tach to the center. but all of the other gauages are single sweep and the 4 in 1 has 4 dials. We weren't sure if it would look right with the 4 in 1 off to one side. |
Looking good Marty.
|
Okay did a little more playing yesterday. I decided to recess the qauges a full 2" to get that OE look. I am thinking that the 3 larger quages are will be 1/2" off the panel and the smaller one's will be 1/4" off the panel.
What ya think ?? http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_20_001.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_20_002.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_20_003.jpg |

Good Morning All,
Meet with Bob Thrash today and talked about finishing the Rendering of the Interior. I hope to have some new drawings in two weeks. He's busy painting graphics on the Cuda http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_001.jpg Okay back to the regularly scheduled update Here is the Final layout for the Dash. I am flying down to Florida to meet with Doc at www.docskustom.com they are going to make me a billet panel to mount the gauges in. Those guy's down there have been a great help and i really look forward to working with them. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_054.jpg Here's the start of new Mount for the Front Support. We want to make the front cover easy to remove. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_055.jpg It will be slip shaft mounted so i can remove it when i need to get it on a trailer. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_064.jpg Okay don't freek out here - Yep it's a prototype front support (no Brackets) http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_066.jpg |
Wastegates are plumbed back into the downpipes.
http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_059.jpg http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_062.jpg Just a quick shot to show how well thought out the Billet Specialties Serp Set up is. Note the A/C lines go down and away vs. straight out. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_070.jpg Dave removed 1" of this pipe to make everything even up front. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_071.jpg Okay here is the last picture of the wiper kit - this is where the shaft needs to come out. You can also see that we are going to fix the A pillar bodyline to match the fenders. http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._05_26_067.jpg That's it for this week. Our goals this week is to get the entire exhaust welded. I should have at least one more update this week. |

The Dash Surround is complete and i couldn't be happier.
I want to thank Doc one last time for taking such good care of me. As promised he stayed late and cranked out the dash overnight. I would of had pictures sooner but i was in the Magic Kingdom spending more money then should be allowed. http://www.docskustom.com/images/docskustomlogolg.jpg 99 SOUTHLAND RD. ORMOND BEACH, FL 32174 386-676-9179 Phone ~ 386-677-6149 Fax [email protected] Here is the panel. When i get home and meet with Autometer will stuff some gauges in it so you can see how it looks. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_09_001.jpg here is the back side view. You can see how the guages will be flush mounted from behind. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_09_002.jpg here it is in the surround http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_09_004.jpg wait i almost forgot - Here is Doc taping the mounting bolts on the back. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_09_005.jpg Once again - Doc Thanks for all of the help. |
that peice looks amazing. I'm a fan of bezels out, but since most bezels are brushed aluminum, I don't guess they would be very noticeable. This is definately gonna have that factory look. Can't wait to see those guages in there!

Good Evening all,
Dave took a week off the truck to work on his Front Engine Dragster. He finally broke into the 5's yes the 5's. He went 5.87 @ 25? mph at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet. He is now one of the top 4 front engine guy's. This weeks updates are all about the parts. Ordered Axle's from Strange and as promised they shipped in 3 day's Great Company. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_004.jpg Wait a new shaft -- Yep another steering shaft. The one from Syborg went into Project 663. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_007.jpg Yet another throttle Cable - Lokar has sure made money off of me. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_006.jpg New Gas Pedal - The picture doesn't do it justice, it's black! http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_009.jpg Hood Release Cable and pull http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_012.jpg |
This give's you an idea as to how the gauges are going to look in the new dash.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_013.jpg Here it is in the truck -- it's amazing we were able to stick 9 Guages in there. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_14_020.jpg That all for this week. I didn't have time to get out there today to get pics of the work Dave did this week. Next week I hope to have some really cool update as I plan to get it on the ground for the first time in over a year. |
Looking Good I like it!
-Paul |
Good Afternoon,
Just a Quick Update. Dave finished the dash surround just in time. I meet Kris from Autometer at the shop to talk about the gauges that we want to put in the dash. It looks like it's going to be the Sport Comp II line. Should look really nice once mounted. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...688_Speedo.jpg This is the backside of the surround and how the billet panel mounts. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_21_002.jpg Need to make room for the gauges and wiring http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_21_018.jpg This is how it looks in the truck with a spare set of Autometer Gauges http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_21_005.jpg It's hard to tell from the picture but this is one of there new Gauges in the panel. http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._06_21_012.jpg More to come on Saturday as i plan to work on it all day and have some help from Bob Thrash |
Love that dash ...good work...

When are you hoping to have it done?
-Paul |

Tommorow i plan to get the entire suspension and brakes back on the truck so Bob and i can play with inner fender design. He is going to help me to see if the inner fenders i want are even feasible. He is also going to do some rendering of both the underhood and interior/dash. This will be the first time the truck in on the ground in over a year. I can't wait to see how it looks |
