Any pickup date??

waynieZ 04-04-2011 11:29 AM

Same as before Mario April 21-23. It would be great to get it a little earlier in the week maybe the 19th but I doubt it.
Luke & Dave thanks Tony I feel the same way.
I sent Mike an E mail Friday night to ask how its going but haven't got a reply yet . He probably didn't see it until today. I also asked if he had any pictues of the parts even if their not in yet. ( Fab 9, tank ...) Getting super excited now.

waynieZ 04-22-2011 02:50 PM

Yes it did change. I sent him an e mail to see how he was doing on the car and he said he had to deal with some other stuff from the storm and he would get back to me with another date.

tones2SS 04-23-2011 01:26 PM

Hang in there buddy!

waynieZ 05-10-2011 08:25 PM

I got an e mail from him he cut his foot and couldn't work on it for the last two weeks. So I have no idea when it will be done. It has to be soon its putting strain on my wife and I and no one or any car is worth that.

68MaroSam 05-10-2011 08:51 PM

Hang in there Wayne. The quality will be worth it.

tones2SS 05-11-2011 06:29 PM

Wayne, hang in there buddy. I know it's easier said than done.
I hope you get your car soon.

Lenie 05-11-2011 07:07 PM

Been there Wayne and it is a strain on everyone around you. It's better sitting in your garage, working on it at your convenience rather than getting your hopes up for unfulfilled promises for one excuse after another. It was an absolute miserable time in my life and I feel for you. It will be nice once you get it back but no matter how nice the work is on it, it's not worth the mental agony you're going through at present time. I personally will never farm out paint work again. You have been a trooper and I commend you for it. One day we will get to drive:thumbsup:

96z28ss 05-11-2011 07:38 PM

I have learned alot just here on these forums.

When it comes to building a car or having one painted, it will not be more than an hour drive away. Cause if im not happy about what is going on, I will be there to pick it up.

Those are absolutely words of wisdom. I am 2000 mi away and 14 months into my body fab and paint deal. I have no doubt my guy or Mike do awesome work, but the delays, lack of timely updates, inability to enjoy the journey - not to mention warranty issues - all make it a losing proposition.

Hang in there Wayne. We're all pulling for you!

Flash68 05-11-2011 09:32 PM

Yep, my first fiasco was about 4 hrs away, and it still was too far.

I'm not saying people intentionally put long-distance customers' projects on the side or back burner, but let's be honest... it sure makes it really easy to.

Either way, it's gotta be getting closer to the end for ya Wayne! Almost there!

waynieZ 05-12-2011 10:10 AM

Thanks Guys Watching the builds here and being able to discuss your projects helped a lot.
I don't doubt the work is going to be excellent and never did. I'm excited to get it home, its been a long road.

Cris@JCG 05-12-2011 10:35 AM

About 4 years ago I kept having problems with body shops meeting my deadlines or the quality of the work.. I went & got a bigger shop to support my body/paint needs in house.. It is the biggest pain in the A$$ of what we do here.. but I no longer have to deal with explaining to a customer why we are behind on their build or the quality..

I feel for you Wayne.. but their is light @ the end of the tunnel!

waynieZ 05-26-2011 12:50 PM

I got an email from Mike, the new pick up date is June 30th.
The wifes going to her sisters house for 3 weeks to unwind when school gets out. So I'll be alone when it gets done so I can go pick it up.
I just got my XFI back from FAST with the 2.0 and new updates. So that will be ready. I wish I had an engine run stand so I could try it before I put it in the car.
Does a dyno shop run your engine on their engine dyno using your ECU?

Yes they do -- and the right one will tune the snot out of it for you -- so that when you install it in the car - the new software you just had installed would be able to correct the VE tables as needed. That's the beauty of the new 2.0 software.

waynieZ 05-26-2011 04:20 PM

Anyone from near Ma/RI know of a good FAST tuner with an engine dyno?

GregWeld 05-29-2011 08:06 PM

Went back to catch up on the thread Wayne... and the only thing I can say is -- the reason I have a big ole shed in my backyard... is because of the things that everyone mentioned here... the over priced - under delivered - shoddy work - or lack of work... I finally figured if it was going to take forever and be done halfassed I might as well do it myself. I can do something over 3 times and it's still cheaper than sending it out...

Having said that -- the '32 build reinforced all of those reasons. Am I happy - yes - could I build it this well - Heck no - but I could have built 3 of them for the $$ in the one.

I have a buddy - some folks will meet next week in Pleasanton - that spent 10 YEARS building his car - including painting in his two car garage... the car is friggin' fantastic... so it can be done!
