super excited to go play this weekend.! going on a crazy road trip to drag race 3 states 3 days and 3 different drag strips for a drag week style event put on by my friend Nathan Shaw at One guys garage. if anyone is interested it starts on fri and ends on sunday here is some info on it. I will be driving an racing the Belair hope to get the car into the 11's hope to see some people not afraid to drive there cars!
https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...23_o.jpgNathan Shaw August 11 Drag Weekend is a three day event where you drive your street car (race vehicle) to a different drag strip each day, race at each track, and the racer who collects the best average ET and survives the road, wins. This event is going to be similar to Hot Rod's Drag Week, but there will be compromises due to not having private track rentals. We are open to feedback and want everyone to know we are aware that some of the parameters are different from Drag Week and other similar events. Rules and regulations below: Two classes will be run: Naturally Aspirated and Power Adder. Please see the September 27 details below, because there is a Muscle Car event at the last track. Your race vehicle must meet these criteria in order to race. Limited to 25 race vehicles per class - the entry fee is $50 (cash, check or Paypal - add $1.50). Entry fee can be mailed to One Guys Garage, LLC, 8802 250th Street W, Lakeville, MN 55044. Paypal to [email protected]. The total mileage for the route is 735 miles, calculated from our shop in Lakeville, MN. You are not allowed to tow your race vehicle from track to track. You have to carry anything you will need for the weekend in or on your race vehicle or pull a trailer with your race vehicle. We are not having any size restrictions on the trailer you want to pull. We have a support vehicles update. We are not regulating the vehicles your family or friends may be following along with. We welcome and encourage you to bring them to this event. If your race vehicle has to go onto a trailer or be towed in any manner at any time, you will be disqualified. It must run 100% of the time on its own power. Pushing by hand is accepted. Please keep with in the spirit of this event by not loading extra tools into the support trailer. If we see anything suspicious, we will be checking trailers. Here is a detailed schedule: September 25, 2015 The drag racing begins at the Cedar Falls Motorsports Park, for those of you who will be traveling through or live close to Lakeville, MN, we will plan to caravan down to the drag strip together. For those that are interested, we will plan to leave Lakeville at 11 am on September 25. There will be truck and trailer parking available. If you are not planning on meeting in Lakeville, to keep the spirit of the event, we would like you to drive your car 200 miles before doing your first pass at Cedar Falls Motorsports Park. This is the mileage the group from Lakeville will be doing on the way to the drag strip. Here is the track information for September 25: Cedar Falls Motorsports Park, 7227 Waverly Rd., Cedar Falls, Iowa 50613 The track event is a Friday Fun Night. Gates open at 6pm with Test and Tune from 6:30-9:30pm. $25 entry fee at track. This is not included in the $50 entry fee. After you feel like you have the best time slip, please turn it into Nathan or Stacy Shaw. If you are the last at the track, please take a photo and text it to (507) 251-8963 with the driver's name and track. This needs to be turned in or text by 10 pm on September 25. Our Saturday race will be in Byron, IL, so load up and head to the next track. Due to schedules and not knowing if cars will be needing repairs, we have not set up any hotels or camping. This will be up to everyone on their own. We will be setting up landmark checkpoints along the way for you to take a picture of your car with the landmark. This is to verify that everyone is driving their car and not trailering it. The checkpoint on the first night is: Dubuque, Iowa: Gas Station Jesus A spotlit Sacred Heart of Jesus statue has been erected by gas station owner George Isaac, who wanted to thank the Lord for allowing him to build a gas station. It is it at night. Address: 4900 Old Highway Rd, Dubuque, IA Directions: West of the city and a half-mile west of Hwy 32. Stands at the back of BP station on Old Hwy Rd, overlooking the north side of US Hwy 20. These photos will need to be shown to Nathan or Stacy Shaw at the Byron Dragway in order to be eligible to win. September 26, 2015 Byron Dragway, 7287 River Road, Byron, IL 61010 Here is the information from their schedule: Test & Tune. Gates open at 9 am and racing starts at 10 am. $30 entry fee at track. If you are the last at the track, please take a photo and text it to (507) 251-8963 with the driver's name and track. This needs to be turned in or text by 10 pm on September 26. Our Sunday racing will be in Rock Falls, WI, so load up and head to the next track when you are done racing. We will be setting up landmark checkpoints along the way for you to take a picture of your car with the landmark. This is to verify that everyone is driving their car and not trailering it. 2nd and Final checkpoint: Mauston, Wisconsin: Semi Truck Upended The Kwik Trip impaled an 18-wheel semi truck, cab face up, on their sign pole to advertise fuel prices at their travel center. Address: 611 State Road 82, Mauston, WI Directions: I-90 Exit 69, west side. Go to the side entrance for non fueling trucks. These photos will need to be shown to Nathan or Stacy Shaw at the Byron Dragway in order to be eligible to win. September 27, 2015: Rock Falls Raceway, N1790 1000th St, Eau Claire, WI 54701 We need to be to the track on time due to their Muscle Car event (make sure your vehicle qualifies), see details from their website: Gates Open at 7:30 a.m., Time Trials at 9 a.m. with Eliminations at 1 p.m. The cost to race is $40. This is not included in the $50 entry fee. Class Eliminations will be conducted in 1/2 second increments. For example, if your car runs 12:33 your class would be 12:20 to 12:49 and so on. If you win two rounds of competition, you win a trophy. If you lost in the 1st or 2nd round of your eliminator, we have a free consolation race. The Consolation Race eliminations will be run bracket racing style with dial-ins and the final 4 racers will receive trophies!! We may also have some head to head competition between different manufacturers, i.e., Chevy, Ford, Dodge, etc. Further details will follow later. General NHRA rules apply. (One Guy's Garage got an approval for this event to allow IHRA chassis certifications and competition licenses.) Street, DOT or slicks allowed. Open exhaust or mufflers also allowed. Also, to clarify what Rock Falls will accept for a Muscle Car, anything that is 1972 and older is accepted but they will also accept any late model muscle car from '73 to present. Please contact Nathan at One Guys Garage if your car does not fit this criteria and he will contact the track manager to try to get pre approval. Once you have your best time slip, please turn it into Nathan or Stacy Shaw. We will tally the results to come up with the winners of each class. The winner will be decided by averaging the three time slips, and the lowest average ET at the 3 tracks will be the winners. There will be payments to first and second place (75% to 1st and 25% to 2nd). 100% payout will be from the $50 entry fee. The One Guy's Garage Nova will be in the event but will not be in the competition. After racing is completed in Rock Falls, the competition will be completed and prizes will be awarded for each class (NA and Power Adder). Specialty awards will also be given - Biggest Supporter/Dedicated Award, Jackstand Award, Flintstone Award. For those who are in the caravan, we will heading back to Lakeville after the awards. Please contact Nathan via PM or at 763-221-1755 to let him know how you plan to begin the event and how you will be putting on the 200 miles before reaching Cedar Falls Motorsports Park if you are not planning to leave from Lakeville. Racers will need to be responsible for making sure their race vehicle is up to the safety standards of each race track. We have raced at all three tracks so if you have questions on tech inspection please pm or call Nathan 763-221-1755. CFMP is IHRA and Byron and Rock Falls are NHRA. Who is ready to have some fun??!! |
well that was awesome! what a blast and some great people as well! 3 days 3 states and 3 tracks 780 miles round trip and no problems! plus finaly got the Belair into the 11's and how? well i guess putting 350# in the trunk of a 4,900# car lol. left my 20" street tires on it the whole trip. then took it camping with the family a week later over the last few weeks we put on over 1,500 miles and only one glitch and that was on the camper trailer so i could not be happier with this car !

got completely side tracked this summer just spent most of the summer driving the Belair instead of working on it or the Chevelle. i picked up a dream machine that i never thought i would be able to own in my life! it has consumed most of my free time this summer but it will pay me back with the possibilities of what this thing can do! i plan on making the inner wheel wells, tubbs, floor pans and so much more with it i feel so blessed to even be able to own one so i thought it would be the right thing to do is paint this thing up to look like the awesome machine that it is and refresh my airbrush skills and learn new ones. the big catch is it is fricking huge and sparked off another project of finding a place to put it !

Sweet Job Eric! Now it looks like it belongs there for sure...... I can't wait to see what comes out from this.
|
Wow ...nice job w the airbrush! That would complement anyone's garage ... except mine cuz it won't fit inside. lol
|
Holy cow Eric! You got mad airbrush skills! So what exactly will that 200 ton beast of a machine do?

As always Eric --- you cease to amaze me!!!

I really hate cutting things up that I thought were done.I decided to try to get more front grip and having a 4,700# car with a 118" wheelbase the car tends to push hard into tight corners.I picked up a great deal on some used 285/35/20 tires and they are the same size as i am running in the rear now and looks like a couple modifications are in order. like the sway bar brackets, front shock brackets tie rod ends moved to help correct the Ackramen. after measuring the rear tires and wheels it appears that i might be able to run the same tire and wheel in the front too! well looks like it is time to cut more stuff apart!
http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psab760vvh.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...sfaxp5ccn.jpeg 255/35/20 compared to the 285/35/20 http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...pskxnf7jx9.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psy6srjcyr.jpg |
well everything went well for last weekend running on a couple of hrs of sleep for a week to get this boat back on the road for the street machine challenge . the whole idea was to get a 285 35 20 tire in the front and then all 4 tires will be the same size. two days before the event the guy from tire pros called me and told me something slipped through the cracks and the wheels never got ordered! they did agree on 2 day shipping the wheels and got them mounted on fri night and ran them Saturday. upgrades also included new QA1 4 way adjustable shocks. still improving a ton and still room for more improvements!
concept to reality http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psyx10t4js.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...pskrkwwjjy.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psp0vzepxu.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psw2yljq15.jpg http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psvfd5jhi9.jpg |
well the street machine nationals already flew by and it was a very successful thrashing session! finished up everything at 3;30 am slept for a couple of hrs. then headed to the Qa1 open house to check out there whole facility wow.! what an impressive place! love seeing how things are made, inspected and tested and my philosophy is if you love to see manufacturing in this country you must buy things that are made in this country! Turns out everyone at Qa1 loved the Belair and everyone signed the car and we ended up taking the ride of the year award from Qa1 how cool is that already all the effort seemed worth while and still have not even had a chance to test the car out yet! still really frustrated with Tire pros for messing up my wheel order and Not getting my new front wheels here when promised because of forgetting to order the wheels!:warning: had to argue to get them to ship them 2 day and they showed up on Friday afternoon day of the show. got them mounted and balanced for running autocross on Saturday the coarse was super tight for a huge car and the turbo's did Not help a bit. still pulled a 634whp. on the dyno which put me in second place for the real street eliminator competition. and I have no idea how the whole thing played out but still had a blast in any case and the car felt awesome! more not so good news coming up soon just trying to get thing caught up again.http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...psdudkeqmi.jpg

i pulled the belair out the other day and made up a new list of **** to do to the car this year and it is a big list. looked at my thread and realized that i never even posted up the rest of last yeas adventures put on over 7,000 miles on the car camping, drag racing, road racing, autocrossing and cruising. this years schedule and it is going to be a busy year of driving too!

lol. wow looks like i have some updating to get this thread back up to date!
whats everyone using for photo hosting nowadays? i really got boned by photobucket and don't want to ever use them again! |
I switched to SmugMug back then and have used it ever since. Not free but certainly worth the small investment.
|
Not a popular opinion I know but you can just pay photobucket and since they still have your photos (unless you removed them) they'll just reactivate third party hosting again and raise your storage limits. Gone is the $400.00 yearly fee that got everyone upset. Plans start at like .20 cents a day. So the easy button might be to just buy one of their entry level plans.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. I read all the "terms of service" for all of the photo hosting sites I could find when considering jumping off the Pbucket ship and every one has a clause that would allow them to make the same stupid financial move Pbucket did. I'd been a paid Pbucket user since back in the early 2000's when they started but like everyone else got upset when they instituted the $400.00 nonsense even though my third party hosting did not get shut off like all the free accounts because I was already paying for a mid level account. I now have well over 10,000 pics so I have to pay somewhere, I can't really expect a company to store, host third party, etc. for free. How would the company survive profitably? I currently have their most expensive unlimited everything plan and it's less than $150.00 a year. No ads, easy to use. I have found it's easier/quicker to use a Flickr free account for video storage but I suspect eventually as I make more videos the free account will reach its storage limit and because there's no free lunch I'll have to pay for that service somewhere. I think Youtube saw what happened with the Pbucket debacle so they're cautiously changing their "rules" over time. Again there's no such thing as a free lunch so advertising or fees has to pay the bills. |
I use Flikr and Imgur.
|
Hi Eric how's it going? Getting anything done on the Chevelle? Hope it's all well with you.
