That will be a SOB since the wiper cowl snaps under the windshield trim and scratching it will be unavoidable. I like the idea, but would rethink on how it will be accessed.

As well as the wiper arms will have to be removed

Just a thought. Maybe he could use some of the clear film like Bad Penny has on the side of her just to protect the part that slides under the chrome? one piece on the stainless and one on the painted surface, if there's room.

sik68 05-23-2012 10:23 AM

Hey John I definitely like where you mounted the reservoirs too. If you want to keep them there (you already put a lot of work into it) maybe you can modify a portion of the cowl panel for a removable section or hinged piece so you don't have to remove the whole thing every time.

I do agree with what the others are saying too though, because I actually fuss with my reservoirs a lot. Topping off fluids, checking fluid levels between track sessions, etc...it pays off to have them really accessible. Plus, I have spilled a bit of brake fluid here and there and I'd hate the feeling of spilling some fluid down into the abyss of the cowl area.

EDIT: I should also mention that when the hood is up, that area is kind of a pinch point especially if you're doing a cowl hood....could be tricky to access for funnels, refilling, etc.

Your project is so dope!

John510 05-23-2012 08:43 PM

..... I can always use the clear bra stuff if I need to on the cowl if it will get scratched.

There are no windshield wipers in the car so Im not worried about it clearing those. Thats why man invented RainX. I don't plan on driving it in the rain anyways. The holes where the wipers go will have caps put in them.

To me the "WOW" factor is worth more than the extra time it will be to access my reservoirs. You rarely see under dash units on first gen camaros and I wanted to be different. When Im at a carshow people will be wondering where my brake/clutch stuff is. It will be a conversation starter

Sieg 05-23-2012 09:16 PM

I like the reservoir concept. Possibly make the grille section with finger/slot mount on the drivers side with a neodymium magnetic latch on the inboard side? The car is looking good John.

Sorry guys I haven't been updating in a while. We had another baby girl and I am in the process of opening another store so life has been a little crazy lately. I do have pictures of the AAW rear mount that Absolute Customs made and a pic of the dash that WCAC is upholstering. Turbo parts are here but I may sell those to help free up some cash flow for the third store Im opening.

Congratulations on the baby, John! What stores do you run...I'd like to patronize a Lat-g'er if at all possible.

Nice, Mountain Mikes has always been my favorite....the pepperonis curl up into little crispy bowls that taste like thick bacon, so delicious.

Went and spent many more hours today trying to get my manifold on. Nobody was biting on the sale and it was looking too pretty sitting in my garage on the shelf so I decided to try to make it fit!

I had to grind a ton of metal off of the TB and I took a piece off of the AC compressor. Then I cut the manifold plenum with a dremel to get the angle up so the coupling would clear. Only took me about 982649832696 tries. I may end up doing a remote mount coil bracket to clean things up. I had to mount my coil brackets upside down so the plugs would clear the manifold plenum but now it blocks the oil filler cap.

That looks great John. Good job. Nice updates.

214Chevy 06-26-2012 05:49 PM

As Tone said...looks good John. Keep up the hard work. It'll pay off and look excellent in the end.

scherp69 06-26-2012 07:28 PM

Looks good John. Congrats on opening your third store and nice to see you're back at the car. If you decide to relocate the coils, I have some pics in my build thread of where I put mine on the subframe. They fit really nice there.

waynieZ 06-26-2012 07:48 PM

It looks slick John.

Vince@Meanstreets 06-26-2012 07:52 PM

See, I told you if you rolled up your sleeves and tucked in your skirt you could get it done. Just wait till you get the turbos plumbed up!

Vince@Meanstreets 06-26-2012 08:02 PM

Oh, and depending on the headers you are using, theres a lot of room down there to mount coils. We are doing the same thing on a 70.

geberhard 06-27-2012 03:54 PM

John, coming out killer, total Darth Vader look!

DFRESH 06-27-2012 09:06 PM

John, glad you decided to keep it on the car---it belongs on it. Blessings on your new baby girl and the new store you are opening up.

Doug

geberhard 06-28-2012 08:39 AM

JOhn, VERY Busy hands and congrats as well on the little princess! We have two little ones and they are a blast! Plus you can teach them soon enough how to wrench and they can start tearing up your car, and use those little hands on those hard to reach under the dash spots (child labor :D ) My 4 year old can already wrench (well more like take stuff apart  )

Lenie 06-28-2012 10:23 AM

Mmmmm.... pretty

John510 07-24-2012 03:17 PM

Well the brake lines are in and bled and the rear Chassisworks suspension is back in. Seats are done but need reassembled. Brakes and lines are hidden when your looking above down into the engine bay.

Just needs wired, driveshaft, fuel system, and started. Then all the body parts can go back on.

Ive been waiting on a health permit for 3 weeks now. Once I get that then I can start construction. Maybe I should start a project thread on the yogurt store. LOL

Thanks

Looking forward to updates John...

geberhard 10-01-2012 01:18 PM

John, how are things coming along on the project? I am still on major project ADD, I know one project is hard enought as it is, but I can not help it :) Picked 67 maro from paint on Saturday, I will try cruising by your store as soon as it is "street legal" of sorts (read bailing wire seatbelts, milk crate seats, etc :)
