Every car on this forum has been modified to some extent. In the last couple of years we've seen multiple changes and design to hoods, spoilers, lower valances, lower tail panels and bumpers, not to mention engine and interior.
In the upcoming years IMO you are going to see more individuals modifying quarters and fenders, deck lids and rocker panels whether it be metal, CF or aluminum almost to the norm. Some of these mods are already into play here on this forum. You can draw concepts all day but until somebody puts it to the car itself you'll never know the outcome.
Besides I already have a stock version and by the time this car gets done the mods will be old news. LOL

I'm waiting for you to cut it in half and add 10 inches for the 'wide body' mod. :) (or is that just sick ??)

Kind of like the full size Dodge vans from the '80s they used for shuttles and aid cars? Two piece windshield and all.....

The car and all of the mods so far are looking great in my opinion. I like where you guys are taking it.

Just think of all the space that would add to the console - and all the cool stuff you could add in there Dave !

X-Box, couple HD screens, buttons and switches and gages all over the place like the space shuttle man !!!

Or not ...

:P

Yea but you can do that with a 356 and most wont notice. Plus it will still fit a trailer!

GregWeld 01-02-2010 05:37 PM

You and Jim keep going, and adding stuff, to this build... it will wind up looking like that horrible "1.3 million dollar" black Mustang... only it'll be 1.5 million!

:willy: :willy:

It was 9. Those porsche guys are always exaggerating...... LOL

The camaro is coming out great some cool ideas.
Can't wait to see the rear all done, the rear bumper just looks a bit big on the side of the rear quarter.

That's not a space shuttle picture. That's the view that Dave has pulling the wheels!!

Maybe more than most.. but not more than this one.. lol.. that's why I qualified it.

And yea, time to get "sorted out" is priceless.

The amount of work in this car is crazy.. I really like it so far.

J2SpeedandCustom 01-03-2010 08:34 AM

Love the car! I really like reading and watching builder/owners thought processes and outcome on their ideas of a design.

Can I ask what made you all put the vent relief behind the front wheel? Is it a functional item or just part of the design?

Thanks, Im all ears on comments. Do you mean in overall, or the height of it. This is to be in line with the quarter panel speed line, other wise it may have looked out of place, but Im not sure considering we dont have mock ups doing it a different aspect. For reference kinda picture the Roaster shop Challenger bumper. I got the idea from a Bo Zolland rendering he did of a 69

I think it looks good that the bumper is up to the style line on the quarter. I think in my opinion ($.02) that it's looks big on the side of the quarter panel I think it would look killer if it was somewhere between what you have and what a rear bumper on a 70 cuda looks like. Also depends on what finish will be on the bumper, if it gets painted body color then it won't be as noticible and will blend in, if it gets a chrome or brushed finish the it will be more noticible .

tellyv 01-03-2010 02:30 PM

looking bad ass Dave!!!

Camaroguy 01-03-2010 05:59 PM

Man the car looks killer! I can just imagine all the labor time in doing the chassis and mods to the car, is there a timeline for the car to be done? I am sure it is the old saying it is done when its done, but do you have any idea because this one will turn some heads!

DFRESH 01-03-2010 06:30 PM

Dave, all you need is a TT Lambo, and I may start calling you SW.

Car is more than amazing--I bet it was tough to say "Sure Roger, go ahead with all those ideas"---any risks you took certainly appear to be worth the reward. That thing is Bad A dude---I think a new bar is being set by Ironworks here. :wow:

Rodger Killer Job! are you going to run that beast on the autocross & road trip Power Tour 2011 or will it be done for SEMA 2011 can't wait to see it finish.Show it bare it is that nice.:hail: :hail: :hail:

ironworks 01-03-2010 09:34 PM

Thanks guys for all the props. The guys in my shop have really been working hard to bring the ideas into reality. There has been a ton of work just on the passenger side of the car, we have not touched the drivers side yet. About the only original sheetmetal is the section in the quarter with the gills and the section below the speed line in the door. Dave and I have had many late night discussions about the direction of the car. Many of them have ended in the words "Just Trust Me" as I hang up the phone and think to myself, are you sure about this Rodger....

This car is pushing the envelope in more ways then one. The mods maybe new to the Protouring scene, but they have been doing this stuff to streetrods for years. As far a certain goals for the car, I'm working towards having the car in our booth at Del Mar this year. We hope to unveil 2 projects at that show. ( One will be a giveaway car with our prototype chassis under neath it :D :D :D :D :D, nothing for sure yet but it should be given away in 2011 ). We still have alot of work ahead of us just to get to Del Mar, let alone get it completed.

MAYBE 2011....

GvEman 01-04-2010 04:59 AM

Just Amazing! The chassis is awesome! And the body looks like its gona be a killer! Awesome!

Like I have always said, it is a team effort around here. From the after school kid cleaning the bathrooms and keeping the shop floor swept, all the way up the food chain to myself. We all have a hand the out come of each project. Without one spoke it would be a pretty rough ride.

Thanks

WSSix 01-04-2010 06:02 PM

and to think I was so excited to see the air jacks being put on this car. Did you guys even have a clue it would start to unfold like this back when y'all started posting updates on the car? I'm loving it and can't wait to see this thing done. If this thing isn't a finalist for SMOY, then someone better have an ungodly car there stealing the spotlight.

waynieZ 01-04-2010 06:18 PM

Rodger awesome work! Dave as far as going with the flow on "Trust Me" looks like a great decision. I love what you guys are doing.

byron 01-04-2010 07:21 PM

Ohh i can see you and I having a discussion about who thought of what first....at some point in our camaro builds. car looks great, just hope mine is done first so that I cant be accused of stealing some similar body mod ideas LOL:cheers:

Dave, I'll design the frame mount so this motor will bolt in...... if that's what you are into.

John, I'd do the same for you..... if that's what you are into.

Both sides of the car getting caught up to each other. We are looking to start on the engine and front section of the chassis. We have been waiting on some parts to become available to build this the way we want.
