Thanks Jason. Like I said, always really liked the design, so it was not a very hard decision.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I hoped the colors/wheel choice would turn out well, but it has turned out better than I envisioned.

RECOVERY ROOM 12-02-2011 08:28 PM

That is turning out great.

Jay Hilliard 12-03-2011 05:10 AM

Thanks Tracy. Alot of work has been done since I picked it up back in March of 2010 when you saw it last. Its amazing how fast time goes by working on these. It does not seem like almost 2 years.

Jay Hilliard 12-03-2011 01:41 PM

Thanks Keith. Enjoyed the company and conversation. Come over anytime. Now get to work on removing that engine:yes:

Gatekeeper 12-04-2011 03:50 AM

Wow Jay, I just read through your wife's build and it's turning out great. I love the body work that Dan did at his shop. I currently have a 69 Camaro at the AMD Installation Center in GA. getting new panels. I also bought this car for my wife to make a nice driver, but I was taking off more parts than I was putting on it so she bought a 2010 SS. I was only going to put in a new floor and trunk pan but both quarters had been worked so I decided to change them also. I wish I had knew about Dan shop because I was at Detroit Speed picking up some parts a few weeks ago and I would have stopped by and checked it out. All I can say is I got a long way to go with my build. Keep posting pics also love the color, it's close to a 77 Vette color I bought new called light blue metallic.

Jay Hilliard 12-04-2011 05:12 AM

Thanks Gatekeeper. Cool, I didnt know AMD had an installation center. On replacing the quarters, thats the norm not the exception. 42 years takes it toll on metal.

Good luck with your build. It goes by fast, as its been almost 2 years for this build and I still have a few more months to go. Something about a budget that keeps getting in the way.

Jay Hilliard 12-04-2011 05:36 AM

Finished up the dynamat last week and some Billet Specialty goodies came in from Holohan's Hotrod Shop. Billet Specialties makes some nice stuff.

Looks great Jay---the color is unique and really stands out--great choice. I didn't go back through the entire thread, so kindly remind me if this will be a surprise to your wife for her Bday---either way I really like that you are doing this car for her and that the car is something she is into. Looking forward to seeing this one completed and driving.

Thanks D. It was for her birthday, but no this is not a surprise. She has always been into cars, so when the new camaro came out, since wanted one of those. But she really wanted a 69 camaro, so I starting searching for one and found one in March 2010 and began with restoration.

Frankenstine 12-04-2011 06:57 PM

Jay, their Installion Center is in Georgia, about an 1 hour and 45 min. for me to get there. It was at Craig Hopkins shop (they did a Charger on Chop Cut, Rebuild) but now it's at Jim Davis shop. Jim bought an old Chevy Dealership and moved it there. Here is a pic of the Chevelle they did at Craig shop for the SEMA show in Los Vegas last month, also here a pic of my floor pan.

It's called DX1 stripe and it was a factory option stripe. You dont see it very often and thats why I went with it. I didnt want the hockey stripe but wanted something time period correct.

The steering wheel is a Billet Specialties wheel.

waynieZ 02-24-2012 07:25 PM
