Probably the greatest "build thread" my eyes have ever gazed upon! :wow:

preston 07-16-2012 01:53 PM

Yeah, amazing work hiding the cage and making it all flow.

Al Moreno 09-11-2012 09:44 AM

Updates Pleeeeeeeease :D

67zo6Camaro 09-11-2012 09:31 PM

Wow, Wow Wooooow! a hidden roll cage. Super clean metal work covering it up, not to mention all the other panel work going on in there.

Matt@BOS 09-11-2012 09:54 PM

Amazing creativity, vision, and execution on the interior!

kovert 09-12-2012 01:03 PM

is this car going to sema this year ???

DOOM 09-12-2012 02:23 PM

Not as of yet but Troy may be bringing it there in the raw if it does go. I'm sure he'll chime inn here soon. He's been a busy man with a WAY more important project to finish.....:_paranoid

Rybar 09-12-2012 03:42 PM

Looks cool, any idea how much weight all that extra metal will add to the car?

Al Moreno 10-10-2012 05:45 PM

$ weeks......week need updates! Starting to get the shakes :willy:

JasonElvisHeard 10-10-2012 09:28 PM

flat out unreal...

I have dreamed about taking the time to cover a cage like that. I honestly though anyone had the balls to spend that much time and effort to blend everything so nice with tubework behind there.

hats off guys, I'm absolutely in shock as to how cool this is.... I cant wait to see the final product. I'm willing to bet that 99% of the people who look at it will never know there is tube work back there. The only reason the other 1% know is because they are on this forum :D

GregWeld 10-10-2012 09:44 PM

The only way I could possibly more impressed is.... if it was mine!

Holy cow man! :hail:

wellis77 10-11-2012 01:35 AM

Incredible build, not sure how I missed it. The cage you built is exactly what I have in mind for my build, I guess I need to get to work...

DOOM 10-11-2012 06:24 AM

Probably none at all. I know the door panels and quarter panels and dash are all lighter than the original. The only part that MIGHT be heavier than the stock is the headliner and if it is its not by much. Alll the stock panels were either made from partical board or steel. Everything here is aluminum.

Are you guys going to the decatur hot rod show this weekend?

windycitychev 10-12-2012 11:42 AM

WOW i have to drive up there to check out your stuff if you dont mind im in chicago

MSTSFabbed 10-12-2012 02:46 PM

Hey Troy,

Can you shed some light on your metal finishing practices? I know you tig everything which makes cleaning it up easier. Do you finish with a DA or random orbital? What grit? I've only seen a small angle die grinder in your pictures.

I don't think I've ever seen such uniform finishing, its jaw dropping! I keep going through this thread just to try to glean more
insight!!

geberhard 12-12-2012 02:05 PM

Insane build, updates??

Yes all the interior panels are 3003 aluminum. Everything is butt welded no lap welding. Once we have the front all welded we weld the back side of all the seams as well. This allows all the finish work to be done (hammering and sanding the welded areas flat) with out any cracks in the weld.

As far as the offset inserts go we used a step die in our pullmax machine to acheive this. I will post pics of both once I am back at work.

I made an engine cover out of aluminum. I have welded it before just not to to the extent of what I was doing. Welding both sides is pretty much a must. I really wish i had a pullmax....

This looks amazing btw...it does.

WOW !!!

GregWeld 01-27-2013 09:10 PM

Insanely Kool!

frankv11 01-29-2013 10:40 PM

This has got to be one of, if not the best build on here. I saw the Torino in last years Grand National Roadster show. Any chance to see this one there?

Can you show us more pictures of those rear seats? and maybe a brief write up. What type of foam, are you using a heavy gage wire for structure, etc..

Lenie 01-29-2013 11:17 PM

Brett, blown away. Mad mad skills.:guns:

Torq'd Design Lab 02-08-2013 10:24 AM

That console is just straight up sick!! I love it!!
