Not bad for a bolt- together Camaro but I doubt it will even scratch the surface of what that little mini-truck cost

2nd Chance Camaro - Ride Tech Coil Over Rear Suspension Part I

2012 04-15 Update - Ride Tech Coil Over Rear Suspension Part I
www.2ndchancecamaro.com

Good Morning all,

For the rear suspension I upgraded to the Ride-Tech Coil Over set up. However we've added a few new
parts that Ride-Tech offers. First is there offset lower link bar and offset spring mount which gives you an
extra 3/4" of tire room. There will be plenty of room to fit the BFG 295 (12.5" wide) and most 315's.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2652e18-me.jpg

There new Coil overs - what else do I need to say.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6dd5715-me.jpg

Very Simple Install.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...821bf02-me.jpg

Okay Plan B
Yes I am changing things just a little. I am going to remove the factory spring perch and install Ride Tech's
new weld on lower bracket. I think they are going to clean up the area. The plan is to move the arm over
another 1/2 which will allow me to fit the BFG 335. It will also allow me to fit the Michelin 345 which is an 1"
narrower then the BFG 335.

Before I bring the car to High Speed Welding I am going to cut off the spring perch's off the axle.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...80bc5ad-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0d869bc-me.jpg

In order to get it back to High Speed Welding I used some of my extra parts. This cool little part came from
DSE. Originally I was going to keep the leaf springs but since they wouldn't sell me the front spring pocket
parts I needed that idea was soon scrapped. I made a quick call to Ride-Tech and purchased there
complete rear kit. So if anyone needs these brackets there just sitting on a shelf at my shop.

Priced to sell cheap !!!

Here are the new brackets from Ride Tech. They are really going to clean up the area.

2012 04-16 Update - Ride Tech Coil Over Rear Suspension Part II

Here is what the bracket looks like when it is removed.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4a82933-me.jpg

I need to thank a couple people here.

Mario from US Collision for letting me borrow his 345 Michelin tire and Chris at JCG Customs www.jcgcustoms.com for letting me borrow his 3 finger wheel tool. The 345 fit perfectly after this very simple modification.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cf0eeda-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...921f582-me.jpg

The new Ride Tech lower bracket installed. Much cleaner look and no more ugly u-bolts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d2a70ab-me.jpg

Joe has also been working on the Edelbrock modified exhaust. He made a couple modifications to the floor pan to get the exhaust above the site line under the car. I am very happy with the progress of the exhaust so far.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c341f65-me.jpg

All done and ready to roll.

Marty,

Simple is good!

Sorry for asking if you've already posted this, but what are you using for lateral control (panhard bar, watts, etc.)?

--Eric

syborg tt 04-16-2012 11:06 AM

It's a Diagonal 4 Bar so no need for an addtional bar.

Thanks for the Update Troy.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and the ultra-fast turn around. You guys do great work and I am happy that I brought my car to you. I am certain we will be doing more cars in the future together.

LOL - yep i glanced right over that.

Here is my thought. I love the look of the 335 and 345 on the back of a Car. However when you see a 1st or 2nd gen at at show and see the big tire on the back of a Camaro the first thing you think is yep another DSE car. I'm not good at being the same as other guys plus I want to drive this car and to the trail head with my bike and not worry about anything.

With th 295's on the back it looks very clean. Kinda like when you see a BMW M3 the first thing you say is wow that looks nice. Why because it's balanced nothing is overstated. I am hoping that BFG offers a 315 in the future because that would be my tire of choice since I am running a 255 on the front.

OLDFLM 04-17-2012 08:43 AM

I like the 255/295 combo!

65 347 04-17-2012 09:50 AM

Marty,
Looks great, you must be getting wipped out driving back and forth from Hi-Speed down to BBT.:unibrow:
Let me know next time your going down I'm up for a ride.

The car looks great with the front spoiler and rocker fairings. They did a beautiful job on the gaps. As always awesome job!

Trust me it's good to have it back in the garage. It's so much easier to walk the 26 feet from the house then to drive the 2 1/2 hours to Troy's.
