Here are the latest updates...
We'll here are few more pics of where we are today. Other than Rodger and I agreed to change up the front and get rid of the bull nose and make it more hard like the rendering - it is done. They did a killer job. Like the way they rounded all the egdes. Really gives it a finished look! In the rendering it has an opening for the hood latch which we will not have. Once the package starting together with the Radiator, A/C condensor etc I ran out of room to support the middle section of the latch area. Minor hurdle IMO. My thoughts right now are to run some reverse pins that mount on the bottom of the hood that that will drop through the main support and pin through the grill opening. We'll see - have to do some brain storming.
Thoughts? http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...5/Rodger02.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...5/Rodger04.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...5/Rodger06.jpg The bottom edge of intake below the throttle body is raw at this time. It will have to be cleared for the radiator hose then it will all be trimmed up, arched and radiused like the top. |
Very nice work, that has got to feel good seeing how it came out.
I just went back and looked at Ricochet's underhood pics. Bodes well for the '55 engine compartment when finished. |
Freakin awesome!!
|
Brent, the intake looks really good. As for the hood latch, have you taken a look at the Mule? It's got a latch at each front corner of the hood. Maybe it could work for you?
|
You should see The cover without the flipper the dolphin nose.
THEY CALL HIM FLIPPER.....FLIPPER ECK ECK ECK ECK ECK..... I guess I will have to send you some pics |
Damn. That is some work there!!:hail:

I have seen those. If I remember right they are VW style latches. I ran one on the 57. Just may be the way to go. Once I get it back home this weekend I'll start thinking about options. |

Looks awesome. I wish I had the money to cover up a hogan intake.
|
Holy Crap!! You left a post on my car so out of curiosity I came to look at what you had going. Thats out of this world wicked! The intake, fender braces, exhaust, renderings, etc... Un-freakin-real!! I can sorta imagine how bad you're bleeding financially, but only sorta! Someone earlier said it right, When all is said and done you could call it 'Nickeleft'.

"When the MGM Grand Hotel opened in 1975, starring Dean Martin, the second headline act was Shecky Greene, whose salary at one point climbed to $150,000 a week ($125,000 went to "my bookmaker," Greene cracks). Greene says that Jay Leno once told him that his all-time favorite joke is one Greene recounted about Frank Sinatra saving his life. Five guys were beating up Greene, and then he heard Sinatra say, "OK. He's had enough." |
Here is the latest as of today.......
We'll - Rodger and the boys @ Ironworks finished up what I wanted them to do for me on the car. The ended making new fender mounts, headers, complete exhaust, core support, fender braces, radiator and AC condensor mounts. You can't see them in the pics but I built the main front end supports that mount under the grill support that go down to the frame so most of the front end weight is supported by this. When I asked Rodger to build the core support structure I mentioned I wanted some bars to go down to the frame for further support. We'll Rodger in his infinite wisdom and creativity came up with something better. He didn't like the idea of bars just hanging out there so he came up with the idea of building the top radiator mount, AC Condensor mount and built an enclosure and attached it to the main bars going across then to the frame. It came out slick IMO.
http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger028.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger034.jpg Here are some of the final pics mocked up. Still have quite a bit of tuning up to do for final fitment but we are well on our way. http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger021.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger025.jpg Once again I can't say enough about the workmanship of Ironworks. These guys are on top of their game! |
Looks awesome
|
That is looking killer.
What craftsmanship!! |
Sooooooo Mr. Ricochet, what's next??????

That double depth bead down the center is very nice touch. I am guessing not done with an Eastwood bead roller?
|
Could be, 1/4" step die and 1/4" bead down the middle and you have to hold your tougue just right. :P

Thanks guys!! Here are a few more pics of the exhaust. Notice nothing hangs below the framerails. You can also see where Rodger extended the inside lower framerail in the rear. I plan on radiusing the lower framerail. You can see where I marked it with a sharpie. Want a smoother looking transition as it rolls forward. Should look better IMO.
http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger046.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger047.jpg I like this shot. Gives a idea just how low it sits next to a stock 2500 HD. http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger043.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Rodger039.jpg |
That is one very cool car!! The ride ht and stance is perfect. I can't wait to see more. Nice work from the crew at Ironworks once again! Rodger and the guys do amazing work!
|
Driveway shots look badass Brent! They fill up quick underneath dont they? Always look wide open underneath when you look at a bare frame sitting there but once everything starts going under one it is tight! Looks Awesome man!
|
got any detail shots of the the wishbone on the rear ? I can clearly see the ends attached to the rear housing. Is it attached to the frame with a heim ?
|
Brent iv'e see your rig down at the shop a few times Bad A$$ love the stance and how everything is turning out!

A lot of people will be wantin' rides in this badd boy. |
Well, here is the yearly update on Nickelback... Been moving at a snails pace - but it is in forward progress. Although some of the pics look similar everything is pretty much final fitted and gapped. Since last update, I installed the hood hinges, overflow bottles, final fit the inner wheel wells, started making the inner wheels that mount within the fender to protect the top side of the fenders. These cars never had them originally but I thought it would be a good addition. I'm going to change out out the overflow caps with Marquez caps. I think they look a little more aggressive and not smooth and "street roddish". Collecting a ton of parts and getting ready to send it down south to Bakersfield so the boys at Ironworks can have their way with it. Plans right now are to have them fab a dash, mount the column, install the new rack & pinion, make some truck coils mounts, make a Big Stuff ECM mount, AC mounts. Getting closer. If all goes well, hopefully be in for paint by the end of the year. I still have to finish up the pass inside wheel well, runs all of the AC lines, make Radiator hoses, brakelines, fuel lines, E-Brake, etc. Until then - here are a few pics
http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/IMG_3325.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/IMG_3338.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/IMG_3334.jpg Here is the Marquez Cap I plan on adapting to these overflows. Thoughts? http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...rquezCap-1.jpg |
cap is cool but too large for the cylinder imo
|
With the hinge openings I wanted to have some bezels made to finish it off nicely. I had Judas from Marquez make these. Came out real nice IMO. I also plan on making some cups that will mount on the backside of the inner fender so you don't get that "hole" affect.
Before http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...IMG_3329-1.jpg After http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/IMG_3808.jpg I had plan on doing the same treatment on the hinges DSE did on their 55. I don't like that the hinge mount plates stick above the firewall almost a full inch. I'm going to give these to Judas to modify accordingly. Looks much cleaner IMO! Before http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/IMG_3810.jpg After http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...ndler-424l.jpg |
man I love this car! keep it up- can't wait to see it in color:D
|
Here are a couple more shots. These are the inner fender wells I made for the driver side to protect the back sides of the fender. Tried taking some notes on bead rolling from some of the other crafstman who hang around here. Don't go comparing me to Jason (WAR) or any of the other metal masters! :D Those guys are at a completely different level. Overall, I'm happy with the way they turned out! Off to the passenger side now!
http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...WheelWell1.jpg http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/s...WheelWell2.jpg |
I'd compare that to right up there where the cream floats....
 :woot: |
They look very nice. Kenny did the back side of the fenders on the 57 and it made a huge difference. What your doing is really going look good.
