As you can see it needs tires and wheels and lowered which is all being done next. Also the interior will get a set of 69 Camaro front buckets with Black and White Houndstooth and the console horse-shoe shifter. Door panels and the rest of the interior will be stock black.

Stay tune for more updates.

Enjoy....

that is cool but trippy at the same time

haha nice project

Hey Marty, Got the dynamat installed along with the Lizard Skin.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1765045a.jpg

Here is the Seats with the Houndstooth.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psa8619e47.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psf9ce042c.jpg

Also got the ram horn exhaust back from being coated with the Cast Iron color so it will not turn on the car. Trying to keep that old school look.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps05c2a78f.jpg

Looks like the Sub Frame with the Engine and Tranny will be coming out this weekend. Get the Sub Frame off to the Powder Coater and then start hanging the Suspension and install motor & tranny before is slide back under the body.

Enjoy.

That looks great but I think you forgot to put the Carpet in.

... and this reverse build idea is really a good idea. Now if you could find a donor subframe you could just powder it and install the motor and trans and make it a quick swap. However since no two of these subframes are even close to being the same that might not work.

What suspension you putting on the car ?

DBasher 09-08-2014 09:01 AM

Houndstooth looks great Ed!

Looking forward to seeing it a bit lower with the new wheels....what were they again?

Looks like you really pulled it off. I was expecting to see the smaller Nova taillights to drive home the Nomaro theme. Those Ventura taillights do look a bit big, but that rear billet panel really makes it look nice. Seats look great as does the engine.

As has been said, it's pretty trippy. Crazy as it is that 3/4 view photo makes me think of a Maverick in a weird sort of way. Coolest thing about doing this helps us visualize "what if GM designed ..."

How much suspension drop will it have? I'd like to do a quick photoshop when I get a break in the next day or two, I can't wait to see it lowered a bit.

If you haven't already bought it all, while you're shopping around for suspension, give us a look... http://www.speedtechperformance.com/...=cat/cat56.htm

Marty & Ben,
I thought about the Sub frame swap but your right they are not all the same so that may cause a problem.

The suspension is a mix of a bunch of parts. The Speedtech upper control arms for the front with RideTech lower control arms, 2" drop spindles and RideTech coil over shocks. The rear is TCI torque Arm with a Moser 9" and RideTech Coil over shocks. I should be able to dial the ride height right where I want it with these parts.
The wheels are a 19" and 18" ralley looking copy that Alan Budnik is cutting with the correct backspacing. I have a set of disc brakes off one of my other projects that I will probably use on this.

I will be pulling the sub frame with the engine and tranny this weekend then strip the sub frame, powder coat it and do final assembly on that to get it back under the body.

Coming together. Not much time left until SEMA. The NOMARO will be in the HRIA/ARMO booth inside right by RideTech. Come check it out if you can.
Ed

syborg tt 09-09-2014 09:13 AM

See you at Sema

Ed.Capen 09-14-2014 05:18 PM

here is a look at the rear seat installed in the car.

Ed.Capen 09-14-2014 05:23 PM

Here is the sub frame with the engine and tranny slide out from the car. anyone need a 350/350.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8a3ca138.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psb63a9393.jpg

The car has to go up pretty high to get it out but it is a whole lot better that doing it all from the top after it is painted. few wires and tranny lines and hoses and it comes down pretty easy.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps78c97dd1.jpg

now clean up the firewall and AC box along with the wiring.

Ed.Capen 09-14-2014 05:27 PM

This is what is nice about starting out with such a clean car. check the underside of the car. pretty clean...

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps38c91a7e.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psf2bbd839.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...pscaef033d.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6f7fc558.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42314287.jpg

As you can see it is very clean and will not take much to clean prep and coat before it goes back together. rear end is out and the gas tanks as everything will be new going together.

Ed.Capen 09-14-2014 05:31 PM

Not much left of the suspension and frame. Looks like I parked it where I shouldn't of...Frame will head to Powder Coating and then this can all go back together.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psf8fc3005.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps184bc1ec.jpg

Bunch of new parts are going into this.
Ed

glassman 09-14-2014 07:18 PM

Where's it going to be at SEMA? I cant believe it will be done it time lol. Its taken me three weeks just to do a/c.....

syborg tt 09-15-2014 06:47 AM

So what Motor are you putting in it if your selling this one.

Ed.Capen 09-15-2014 07:04 AM

Marty,
It is an LT4 out of a Corvette that I had built. It is ready to go in with the tranny. Just have to get the sub frame back from Powder Coating. They need it all this week as I just dropped it off this morning.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psabc982a1.jpg

Gives me time to address the underside of the car, the rear suspension and fuel tank.
Enjoy

Mike, It is in the HRIA/ARMO booth inside the main hall by RideTech in Hot Rod Alley. They take 6 cars each year for the inside booth to show company parts on cars from the industry. This one has a bunch of those.

See you next week for the tour, looks like I will be driving the Goodguys yellow 69 Camaro and not my 70 Camaro.

Ed.Capen 09-15-2014 05:31 PM

I received the new plastic dash bezel and have also replaced the fake clock with a tach in the dash. The tach is made by Shiftworks and comes with a little box that runs the tach right off the (-) side of coil. The new bezel looks good the old one was not bad but someone had broke the wiper switch off it at some point in its life. Installing the Retro-fit radio in the dash and that part is ready to install.

Rick, It is a Budnik new design wheel that you will have to come to the ARMO booth at SEMA or wait until after and I will post it here.

top secret...:secret:

Ed.Capen 09-23-2014 07:24 AM

Did a few more things to the NOMARO since the powder coater is taking so long on the sub frame.

Painted the whole bottom of the car and the firewall.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbc52c28.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps26fa4478.jpg

Received the parts from TCI for the Ford 9" rear end with their torque are assemble kit. Here is the tire from BFGoodrich at ride height.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psb4002707.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psa94fa4c1.jpg

Now to send the TCI items to the powder coater and get all this stuffed under the car. Budnik Wheels were cutting the wheels yesterday so those should be here soon. Working on getting as much done before I leave on the tour for two weeks.
Enjoy Ed

syborg tt 09-23-2014 07:47 AM

Well that ride height is going to look much better.

ps you should have used my Powder Coater you would have had you stuff back under the car by now.

tubbed69 09-23-2014 09:07 AM

Looking very good Ed,I like it:thumbsup:

Ed.Capen 10-07-2014 06:50 AM

Picked up the frame from the powder coater. Installing the lines and suspension. Upper control arms are SpeedTech, Lower control arms are RideTech with RideTech Coil over Shocks.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4e1eff87.jpg

Just about ready to slide this sub frame back under the car body and raise it up. Working on the TCI rear torque arm suspension now that it is back for the coater.

Ed.Capen 10-12-2014 04:46 PM

Well t was a busy weekend under the NOMARO...
The sub frame with Engine and Tranny were set back under the body and the front suspension was installed with the 14" front rotors and calipers.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9b2affd4.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3559ee39.jpg

The Engine is all bolted up and just have some wiring and the radiator to install along with the AC lines. I wanted to leave the stock heater box to make it look more stock.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psb9a61e8c.jpg

The Dash and Interior is getting close, just have to install the steering shaft and wheel and hook up the wiring.

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2f33aa78.jpg

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psf5f0703c.jpg

The rear torque Arm and RideTech coil overs are all installed. Just waiting on the Wheels from Budnik!!!!

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...pse73ac916.jpg

I am going to fire it this week and get the exhaust done along with the final color sand and buff. SEMA looks good after this weekend.

Ed

Hey Ed, great job. Looking more and more like something that would have come straight from GM. We need to update our SEMA thread with Nomaro. Where is it going to be appearing?

Ed.Capen 10-15-2014 03:46 PM

Al, The car will be in the HRIA/ARMO booth in the main hall at SEMA. Glad some of you like the way it is turning out.

:thankyou:
