Time to get back at it...
I needed to complete the tunnel mod for the 5 speed, and finish the floorpan before finishing the torque arm. I got the pan pulled out to finish the rocker area prep for final welding. Hoping to have the pan back in and finished in a couple of weeks. |
The wheels turned out super nice.

I see you got one of this doo-dads for wheel offset measuring. I wanted too but had way too many other needs . I ended up making jigs, holding squares, tape measures and little dogs :-) |

Haven't got much done between building 500' new cattle fence, snow shoveling, etc...
Still working on upper coil over shock mount and PanHard bar mounting to frame rail. I also made a coil over jig and lightened up a 9" carrier for torque arm install. Car is on a rotisserie so I am using Jason torino420's pictures for approximate ride height. I'm tacking everything in until I can get it flipped over for a better measurement. A couple of pics. |

it's been a long summer working on the acreage but I am finally back at it on the Torino.
My wife Joni helped me yesterday, we worked 7 hours removing the rotisserie and installing the P-ayr block and TKO 5 speed. Had to get it on the ground to check transmission and differential angles for a final weld :weld: on the Speedtech brackets. |
I got to figure out this picture sizing process. Apparently all I did was decrease the pixels and not the size :bang:

Thanks Jody, I was just doing it on a MacBook Air using "preview" then "duplicate"
What is a good size for this site? I appreciate the offer, I was just going to google it later tonight after I clean my shop. Joe |

Just traded email with torino420 yesterday and he sent me some needed measurements. Thanks Jason! My daughter fly's in from Austin early Friday and we are going to spend some time together working on the Torino. |

Using Jason's measurements we got it at the same ride height. Jason has 345/30-19 and his fills the wheel well.
The tire is a 295/30-18 I am thinking I need a 45 to fill the wheel well. |
FWIW Falken's RT660 Azenis 295/40/18 is a nice sized tire (27.4") and has a nice side wall
|
Thanks Ty that is one I am considering.

No work on the car but a couple of new (used) machines to help with the build.
|
Well that looks like fun and it looks like they were meant to be right in that spot.
|
Good find. I bet you can do wonders with those machines.

Two years since the last update, i haven't got much done.
Car hasn't set on all fours since 2015. New Nitto NT555 G2 tires. 295/40-18 and 255/45-18 on Boze Traction wheels. I have been doing some minor sheet metal work over the last week. Attachment 80780 |
Welcome back and the car looks awesome on all four.
So what are the plans now that you are back on it ???? Quote:
|
Those are great looking wheels. Congrats getting the car back on its wheels even if temporary.

Thanks Marty and Trey Plans are to center the pinion on the housing and possibly narrow it a bit more. I had used a housing I had on hand and ordered Currie axles. A friend has been helping me and he is an awesome tig 🧑*🏭 welder . Might as well get it exact now. There are multiple Speedtech brackets that are only tacked on for mockup. I had to design a trailing arm bracket since this is a Camaro torque arm I have been modifying to fit my Ford. Lots of sheet metal work ahead of me, wiring harness etc. |

A good friend TIG welded new big bearing ends, drain plugs, and all the torque arm brackets on my swap meet housing this weekend.
Need to get it installed and build a panhard mount, and shock mounts under the Torino. Then on to all the rusty sheet metal:welder: |
Very nice and I can't wait to see it under the car.
|
Thanks Marty!
|
Good to see someone making Torino progress.
|
Nice work on the rear end, Joe! As you know, that sheetmetal won't fix itself, get after it! A panel a week or a tack weld a night goes a long way on getting the work done.
 |
Looking good, Joe…seeing it sitting on all fours is a real treat! I think you definitely nailed the stance. I, too, joined the Quickjack club a while back and they sure are handy…
